Chapter 20
“You are?” the Cromwell family’s doctor turned around at the voice.
A young girl stood before him, her long black hair cascading down, biting into a piece of fruit candy. She looked quite young, but her face was so strikingly beautiful that it was hard to ignore. Her demeanor was cool, yet elegant, and a mole at the corner of her eye gave her an almost ethereal charm. Her deep, dark eyes seemed to exude a quiet but powerful presence, making anyone she looked at feel a subtle pressure.
Manager Monroe quickly spoke up, “Steven, this is the little miracle doctor I brought…”
“Nonsense!”
Before Manager Monroe could finish, a sharp reprimand cut him off.
“You greedy little girl again.” The voice of Evelyn Adler came as she slowly entered the room. Her gaze swept over Amelia, and her expression darkened. “So, you’re here to scam people because you can’t get paid, huh?”
She shouted, “Who let this person in? Was there no one to check on them?”

Hearing her shout, the attending doctor rushed over in a hurry, “Professor Adler, there’s been a misunderstanding. These people are the patient’s companions. The patient’s condition is deteriorating, and we urgently need you to come for a consultation.”
The patient’s companions?
So this girl knew them?
It turned out to be poor relatives, pretending to come from New York. She had wasted her time for nothing.
“Clear the room,” Evelyn Adler ordered coldly.
Manager Monroe furrowed his brow. “No, we must stay here.”
Evelyn Adler’s voice turned even colder. “I don’t like having people around when I’m consulting. If you can’t accept that, you don’t have to see me.”
Did she really think she was willing to work overtime and treat just anyone?
Although Manager Monroe had already heard of Dr.Adler’s bad reputation from the community square, seeing her arrogance firsthand made him even angrier. His blood was boiling.

“You’re a doctor! Are you just going to abandon the patient?” Manager Monroe growled.
Evelyn Adler answered nonchalantly, “You’re the one who disagreed when I asked to clear the room. What do you want me to do? If you really want me to treat him, it’s fine. But…”
Evelyn Adler sneered and looked at Amelia. “Your girl here has offended me. I won’t make things difficult for you people from the countryside, but if she apologizes to me personally, I‘ Il go ahead with the consultation.”
“Apologize to you, my ass!” Manager Monroe had been in New York for many years and was used to being respected everywhere he went. He was infuriated that this old lady was just making things difficult for them, rather than actually trying to save a life.
Evelyn Adler’s expression grew sharper. “What’s your attitude? You trying to cause trouble?”
Manager Monroe’s body trembled with anger, and for a moment, he truly wanted to hit someone.
But Amelia, the person involved, stepped forward and gently stopped him. Her voice was calm and collected, “Stay calm. Saving the patient is the most important thing. We can talk about the rest later.”
Manager Monroe was so furious that his eyes were bloodshot.

Chapter 20
“I understand! Please, you must bring him back from the brink of death! I’m begging you!”
Amelia’s presence was enough to sway the Cromwell family’s doctor, Steven, who now trusted her seven or eight points.
Evelyn Adler sneered, “You really believe that this outsider, with no medical training, can treat and save people? How uncultured.”
“Mr. Lewis, Dr.Adler is right. Please don’t act impulsively,” the attending doctor said, though he didn’t have any particular animosity toward Amelia. However, seeing how young and inexperienced she looked, he couldn’t help but feel dubious. “You know how complicated the old man’s condition is. Neither of us has been able to help, and can she really do something about it?”
Amelia lowered her head, turning the dial on her watch, her tone casual. “The patient’s breathing has been labored and shallow since the beginning. The fever, with no known cause, has persisted, followed by a dry cough that’s been harsh and irritative. There’s blood in the throat, and a clear, dull pain in the chest. Now, I believe the patient’s mental state has started to deteriorate.”
Her description matched the symptoms exactly!
The attending doctor’s eyes widened in shock.
