Chapter 0011
Sebastian’s POV
We both know that the woman from that night was Lily, no Miranda.
The thought itself unsettles me. It makes my mind feel restless and uneasy, leaving my memory distorted. Second guesses run through my brain. The hairs on the back of my heck stand at the idea.
I remembered that night as if it occurred the previous nigh It was a night of passion and ravenous desire, but any time I tried to picture Lily in the role of the mystery woman, the passion died.
The wolf inside me remains silent and retreats into his own thoughts.
I catch a glimpse of Evan’s purple eyes from my peripheral vision. I study his expression. He looks as if he w wants to say something to me but is too scared to do so.
“Evan? Is there something you’d like to talk about? You know you can talk about anything with me,” I ask, turning my body to face him. Evan deserves to have someone to talk to with no judgment. If I have to be that person, then so be it.
He hesitates and takes a deep breath. He looks out the window, and I nod to myself, deciding to drop it.
Dad, do you have..other kids?” Evan’s voice is tentative and filled with curiosity. A sharp pain shoots through my chest at his question. What could have caused him to ask this?
“No! Of course not,” I firmly state. Evan nods.
“Then, is it possible for two people to look exactly the same?” He presses on.
I stare at the road from the window beside me. My face scrunches up from confusion. What could he possibly be talking about? Why would he ask such a thing? Has Lily fed more of her nonsense into his head?
“What are you trying to say, Evan?” I ask. Evan sighs in response. He lowers his head, and I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness that flashes across my face and chest.
“…” he huffs and looks out the window, “I just wish I had a sibling…so I wouldn’t be the only one with strange eyes.”
י
My heart breaks in my chest. I always knew that Evan was insecure about his eyes, mainly due to pressures from Lily and her family. His violet eyes are unique to him, and yet he feels the need to cover them up with darkened and blacked–out sunglasses, hiding them from the world.
My Beta clears his throat loud enough for us to hear in the back. I look at him, narrowing my eyes. I nod at him through the mirror to speak.
“I heard that Healer M created a potion capable of altering one’s eye color…” my Beta begins. Evan’s interest is piqued. His posture straightens, and he leans forward in his seat. He looks at me, eyes wide and filled with hope.
“Go on.” I demand.
“It’s just that…well, I heard through a rumor that it was never publically sold, sir.”
I nod to myself. I glance at Evan, who is bubbling with excitement. He vibrates in his seat as the hope of being normal runs through his body.
“Contact Miranda immediately. Tell her she can name her price.” I command.
“Yes, sir.” My Beta nods his head.

Miranda’s POV

I stand in the mirror, looking at myself. My violet eyes stick out from the rest of the features of my face. They’re my mother’s eyes, but I must conceal them.
I tilt my head back and squeeze the dropper into both eyes the liquid feels cool against my eyes, I open them to be greeted with the green color that most werewolves have. I close the bottle and set it on the counter.
Ella pokes her head out from behind me. We smile at each other through the mirror, and I swivel on my heels to face her.
She sits on the rim of the bathtub, her smile disappearing, tilt my head at her.
“Mommy, I think your purple eyes are really pretty. Why do you always make them go away?” She asks. I nod and smile at her. How do I explain the complexities of werewolf society to her? She’s only five years old, after all.
I kneel in front of her and rest my hands on either side of her body. My fingertips tap the white tub, and I hum, thinking of an answer.
“I think it’s easier this way, my love,” I breathe out. Ella frowns at me. I push her hair out of her face and shrug. You’ll learn when you get older. Now go get cleaned up for school,” I stand and usher her out of the bathroom.
Ella and Noah are lucky that they did not inherit my eye color. They are lucky that they do not have to endure any prejudice or bullying from others like I had faced when I was their age. Nobody deserves to go through that, especially not my children.
The thought lingers in my mind as they rush inside the gates of their elementary school. I wave to their teacher, who waves back and helps them with their bags as they walk through the door.
I chuckle and tur in a circle, my eyes trained on the ground. A smile grows on my face, and I’m happy that kids will be in an environment that will help them grow.

My eyes find themselves on a pair of black shoes that stand before me, and I look up. Sebastian looks down at me, an unimpressed look on his face. I roll my eyes and groan.
I try to step around him, but he blocks my way. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, finally looking up at him.
“What?” I glare at him, impatience laced throughout my tone.
“Why are you refusing to sell me the potion?” His tone is both accusatory and condescending. “Is the price I named not good enough for you?”
I take a deep breath, collecting my hands in front of my stomach. I stare at him, one eyebrow raised.
“It’s not for sale. Even if you offered me its weight in gold, my answer is still no. Now, if you’ll excuse me,” I go to push past him, but instead, he grabs my arms and pushes me up against the wall
The air leaves my lungs, and I gasp for air, looking up at him. Fury ignites his darkened eyes. He leans down, closing the gap between us.
“Don’t push your luck, half–breed,” he growls the warning as if it’s second nature to him.
My gaze fixates on his touch on my arms. Electricity warms my skin from his touch, and butterflies erupt in my stomach. I gasp and yank my arm away, ducking underneath his arm to get away.
“I told you,” I shoot a cold glare at him. I fix my clothes to give my hands something to do. “this isn’t about the
money.”

Sebastian’s eyes narrow at me. His gaze makes me feel so small yet so alive at the same time. He straightens his posture and takes in my appearance. A knowing smirk spreads across his face, and he leans down to be at my level.
“You’re not selling it because you’re playing hard to get, are you?” he muses. I scoff at his accusation but remain silent. “Are you hoping I’ll keep coming back to you?”
