Chapter 488
Nathan caught a glimpse of Cameron’s bewildered expression and felt an immediate pang of urgency. With a cheeky grin, he said, “Nathalie, were you just protecting me? You’re so good to me, I might never let you go. What am I gonna do now?”
Nathalie gently tousled his hair, her voice soothing and warm, “Then let’s stay together forever.”
Nathan replied, “Even in the next life, I’ll come find you, alright?”
Nathalie blushed, “Alright.”
These days, Nathalie was living a carefree life, feeling content and healthy, even gaining a little weight. Her cheeks were softly rounded, giving her a youthful, innocent look. Paired with her playful charm, she was simply irresistible.
Cameron had never seen Nathalie look so enchanting before, and something stirred inside him. Maybe it was jealousy or a sense of loss, but he mumbled under his breath, “Show–offs never last.”
Nathan turned his gaze from Nathalie, his demeanor shifting dramatically. Moments ago, he was all sweet and affectionate, but as soon as he addressed Cameron, it was as if a cold frost had settled over him.
“Mr. Dawson, keep your eyes peeled. I want you to see just how great Nathalie and I will be together, how our love will last a lifetime. The so–called curse of show–offs doesn’t apply to us.”
Nathan suddenly held Nathalie’s hand tightly, as if making a solemn vow, “I’ve had feelings for Nathalie for a long time. Thank you for letting her go. I owe you one for that.”
Cameron was left speechless…
Nathalie was overwhelmed with emotion. No one had ever valued her like this. Nathan’s respect and adoration for her shone through clearly. His love was genuine.
However, Nathalie was naturally shy, especially when it came to love. Nathan’s public declarations made her a bit flustered. She squeezed Nathan’s hand, “Nathan, that’s enough. Let’s go.”
Only then did Nathan dial back his enthusiasm.
“Alright, let’s head home,” Nathan cheered.
Cameron, who was older and more reserved, found Nathan’s youthful boasting a bit much.
As Nathan passed by him, he leaned in and whispered, “Cameron, is your wife a bit off? You better keep her in check, If she shows up around my Nathalie again, spouting nonsense, I won’t hesitate to call her out.”
With that, Nathan took Nathalie’s hand and they left.
“Cameron, it hurts,” came Greta’s weak voice, and a look of irritation flashed in Cameron’s eyes.
Cameron was simmering inside; all the embarrassment he faced today traced back to Greta.
He snapped at her, “Get up. Sitting there on the ground, aren’t you embarrassed?”
Greta’s tears fell, “Cameron, I can’t get up. I think I’m hurt.”
Cameron’s eyes flared with anger, “Hurt? What were you doing before? Now that Nathan’s gone, you say you’re hurt?”
The yanked Greta up roughly, her leg hanging limp. Only then did he realize her ankle was dislocated.
Greta whimpered, “Cameron, carry me.”
Cameron, with a sour expression, reluctantly bent down.
De to her height and injury, Greta struggled to climb onto his back. “Cameron, can you stoop a bit lower?”

Greta managed to clamber onto his back.
With a grim expression, Cameron carried Greta to the hospital. Greta sobbed the entire way.
“Why are you crying?” Cameron’s voice bristled with impatience.
