Cameron was left speechless when he saw the little girl. The surprise in his eyes was impossible to hide, and he sprang to his feet, exclaiming, “Is it really you?”
His secretary looked on, clearly confused.
Cameron waved her off, “You can leave us for now.”
Just as she was about to leave, Cameron stopped her, “Oh, and Matt, could you grab some snacks? Something healthy, please.”

He got up, walked around his desk, and stood in front of her.

Cameron studied her for a moment, moved by the determination in her eyes. “It seems you really don’t like me,” he muttered softly.
Nina replied, “It’s not that I don’t like you.”
Cameron’s eyes flickered with hope, “So you do like me?”
Nina shook her head, “It’s not about liking or disliking. You’re just a stranger to me.”
The hope in Cameron’s eyes faded.
He glanced at Nina, curious, “Do you know why I came looking for you?”
A spark ignited in Nina’s eyes.
Cameron pulled up a chair and sat down, trying to meet Nina at eye level.
“You know, you look a lot like my daughter,” he said, his voice thick with emotion.
Nina asked, “Do you like your daughter?”
Cameron hesitated, unsure of how to reply.
He ought to, but his actions told a different story.
“How could you not like your own daughter?” he murmured, his voice subdued.
“You like her?” Nina seemed surprised, “Then you must have done lots of things for her. Like my dad, who buys me clothes, exercises with me, and cooks delicious meals.”
Cameron’s face turned awkward. What had he truly done for his daughter?
