Chapter 14
Damien’s pov
Each step I took was heavy with worry, I was more worried abou trene and the company than what Eva would think of this whole situation.
Like a slow realization, I understood that I didn’t care for her anymore as if I was just being in a relationship with her because I was hanging on to old feelings that had died.
Eva was no longer in my heart. She hadn’t been in a very long time. Irene took over and these feelings I harbor felt more real than anything I’ve ever felt before.
As I pushed open the door to the suite that I was staying in, I could already see my personal assistant and secretaries yelling into their phones,
“Damn, these people are so fast.” My main bodyguard commented as he watcher a furious yet calculated exchange of words over the phone.
“Have they published things already?” I asked while simultaneously bringing out my phone from my pocket to see the trending news myself.
Being a popular billionaire, my life was almost on the internet. Paparazzi are always looking for a scoop or scandal.
“Yes, so many of those popular blog sites have done that, and some broadcasting stations have immediately inserted the footage captured into their entertainment segment. They are working faster than a sonic, he replied, worry etched on his expression..
He’s been a long-time worker of cause to the company’s stock.
mine, so he was more family than a mere staff. He understood the great damage media can
The voices of my personal assistant and secretaries slowly faded in the background as I tried to read through the unbelievable blog titles these paparazzi posted.
‘Damien Chad: Caught Kissing His Caterer Hours to his wedding
“A Caterer Set to Ruin the Damien Chad’s Dynasty, Caught the soon-to-be wedded Billionaire.”
“Damien Chad’s Dynasty in Chaos: Caught cheating with his Mistress.”
More articles that portrayed Irene as a bad woman, a home destroyer, and a mistress kept popping up the more I scrolled. down.
“What the hell is this?” I yelled, angry..
“How can they come up with a fake story? They know nothing about her.” I shouted.
“Steven, what are you doing about this?!” I yelled at my personal assistant who quickly rounded up the call he was having and rushed to my side.
“Damien, I’m trying to stop them. But they keep demanding a press conference, or they will continue publishing whatever they like. Steven replied with a frantic expression as his phone buzzed in his hand again.
“So, are you telling me that they are threatening me?” I asked, enraged at the audacity these people had.
“Yes, seems to be the case. And the shareholders won’t stop calling. They said we should do the press conference as soon as possible or the stocks would start dropping. We need to make a move,” Steven explained, and I took a second to weigh the
situation.
Chapter 14
This whole scandal was mostly painting Irene badly. And soon, ey will begin to reveal her full identity and information. It will affect her business if I don’t do something soon.
“So what do you suggest I say at the press conference? I questioned Steven. He was a crisis solver.
His brain worked like a machine and always came up with solutions swiftly. That’s why I could never let him go
“I would prepare a written statement. And you will answer a few questions from the reporters. We’ll screen some questions that we can before the press conference.” He answered, already ping away into his phone.
“I’ve scheduled the press conference. Our media team will handle it swiftly and efficiently. He informed me.
I nodded. But there’s something that I must protect. Or rather, a woman, the one that has my heart and soul.
“What do you want to write for the statement?” I inquired, wanting to know what would happen to Irene.
“Irene Boden is your past girlfriend, and she is still stuck on you So, she ended up luring you into the cold room and-”
“Stop!” I raised my palm in the air cutting him short because I knew he was heading.
“No. 1 shook my head, “I am not going to say that. Irene isn’t at fault here, so why make her take the blame just for the sake of saving our company? What about hers?” I asked Steven, and the look on his face was that of sympathy.
“There’s no other option, Damien. I understand that she’s your ex. But we can’t do anything about it.” Steven replied.
He was right. The situation was a tight one. But, what I don’t accept is that that is the only option we have.
I took a seat on the empty single couch and began racking my head for ideas.
Because Irene can’t take the fall for something-Eva did.
How do I fix this?
If we even go for what Steven is suggesting, Eva will take that opportunity and paint Irene even worse. Especially based on the recent events with Charlie.
Eva was no good. And she needs to somehow pay for what she did.
“I think I have the perfect idea,” I said out loud to Steven and the other people occupying the room. Like a light bulb, the new idea popped into my head.
“What’s that, Damien?” He asked.
“Schedule the press conference for after the wedding. Send a message to those media companies and tell them that they will get the juiciest news tomorrow if they stop publishing fake news. I ordered and my secretaries were already on it, typing away into their laptops and phones to send official emails and text messages,
“Damien, what’s your plan?” Steven asked, equally amused and worried.
“Just watch, Steven. I will take care of this whole mess.” I smirked, knowing this plan would perfectly punish Eva and put her in her place.
There was only one problem in my way to completely achieving this plan- Irene.
Her answer to my question is the key to solving it all.
