Chapter 25
Damien’s POV:
Irene stared at me as if I had said some huge grammar that she couldn’t understand. I think she’s beginning to see the stark difference between the man I once was, and the man I am now. She’s not used to seeing how vocal and bold I am, especially when it comes to the one my heart beats for,
“We should dig in then!” Irene said as she recovered quickly from my words. I smiled knowing how she tends to be. She’s trying to avoid us talking about the things we feel.
So I let it be. My aim is to not make her uncomfortable, but so she can begin to see who Damien Chad is now. I’ve changed. Even I know that, so what more Irene who had lived with the former me.
The door to the study opened and we all looked in the direction, Steven was walking towards us with his phone in his hand.
“Sorry, the call took a bit longer than I expected,” He apologized. “Good morning, Irene, and congratulations on your wedding.” He greeted Irene, extending his right hand forward for a handshake.
“Thank you, Steven.” Irene took his hand and shook it, “Thank you for also taking care of them,” She said, glancing at Delores and Charlie
“It was no bother,” Steven said and took a seat beside Delores.
Oh, he was not even trying to hide it. I can’t wait for something beautiful to happen between them.
“Let’s eat,” I announced and there was a chorus of hums. Charlie was already eating the pancakes I cut into pieces for him. He didn’t bother to wait for us.
“How’s the news today about us?” Irene questioned after some bit of silence, except for the clatter of cutleries being used.
“It’s better. They keep using the tag of True Love Prevails. And it makes the entire story sweeter and more concrete,” Steven answered.
I read a few articles this morning when I was cooking, and I saw the magic of Media and written words. It was amazing how they were able to change the whole narrative and people’s judgment in a matter of one day.
And all the blogs I read, made it seem as though we were madly in love with each other. Which, fueled my determination to make Irene feel wonderful emotions for me.
“That’s actually good to hear. So will this reverse all the damages done?” Delores asked, staring at Steven. And the moment he looked at her, his food went into the wrong hole, causing him to cough.
Delores got worried and quickly handed him a glass of water while rubbing his back in a downward manner.
All I did was chuckle lowly while feeding Charlie some berries, watching the drama unfold.
“Easy,” Delores said softly, helping him calm down.
“Sorry, Steven,” Irene said, concerned. Charlie mimicked his mummy’s voice too, which made me laugh loudly. He was cute.
But the laughter mostly stemmed from the fact that Steven was getting so affected by Delores.
“Thank you,” he said to Delores after calming down, avoiding her gaze.
“Sorry buddy,” I finally said, and he knew I threw a shade at him with that. So he shot me a glare that got me muffled the sound of my laughter.

Chapter 25
“You should drink more water.” Delores said and handed him more water.
70%
“Thank you.” He accepted it while still avoiding looking at her face. As if there was an enchantment plastered on her face that kept capturing him each time he looked at her.
“Steven, you haven’t answered Delores‘ question?” I pointed out, purposely trying to put him on a hot seat.
His eyes widened as he stared at me. I’m guessing he might have forgotten what she asked.
“Uhm-” He said, trying to recall.
“Don’t worry about that. Let’s finish eating.” Delores said to him, and we all focused back on eating.
After eating, we all sat in the lounge and put on a Disney show for Charlie. He didn’t leave my side and I was enjoying the love. Irene couldn’t stop glancing at us at intervals.
Steven explained to us that the damages are getting reversed and everything will eventually be fine. He couldn’t also stop stealing glances at Delores. He was so into her and I strongly hope Delores returns the affection.
The day slowly went by and it was so pleasant. It felt like everyone with me was my family and we were spending a nice time together indoors. Although, I am going to work hard until I make Irene and Charlie my real family.
I don’t want whatever is binding us should just be business only. I want something real and beautiful. Something I can boast freely of I really just want a life with her, and Charlie is already like a son to me.
“Irene,” Delores called out and snapped me out of my reverie.
“Yeah?” Irene asked.
“I wanted to tell you that I will be taking Charlie with me. So you guys can spend more time together.” Delores said and I couldn’t help but smile, trying to fight it off.
“Oh, you don’t have to,” Irene quickly countered.
“No, I have to. You guys need to enjoy your honeymoon phase,” She wiggled her eyes at Irene, causing me to chuckle. “But you know what’s up, Delores. Don’t be like that.” Irene tried to reason with her. But Delores wasn’t having
- it.
And actually, I have no issue with Charlie staying with us. But the fact that Delores wanted to do this, I won’t be interfering. “Just fucking enjoy your new marriage. And we’ll stay out of your hair.” Delores laughed and as the girl kept bantering, Steven walked up to me and showed me what was trending massively on the internet.
Another chaos erupted. Except, this time, I liked the chaos because it seemed like a sweet idea.
“What do we do?” Steven asked, sparing a quick glance at the ladies, who were still bantering.
“I guess I have to plan a real honeymoon. And it must be as soon as possible,” I replied with a sheepish smile.
The universe was supporting me. Definitely.
