Chapter 58
Irene’s POV:
“She’s up, Damien. Eva woke up and I don’t know what I should do next.” I mumbled into his chest. After getting that call. I rushed out of the cafe and briskly walked into the busy streets with only the hospital direction in my mind.
A lot of questions filled head but I couldn’t take a pause to think of their answers. I just kept walking as if I was the doctor on standby to attend to her once she woke up. Whereas I know fully well that I do not feel some things for her, and I shouldn’t be in a haste.
Instead, I should take my time and think of the perfect thing to do that wouldn’t hurt me in the long run or Jeopardize my fragile mental health.
“Irene, let’s get into the car first, then we’ll talk properly.” He said to me and before I could even blink or talk, he swept me off my feet and cared me to the car. It was then I realized that he parked wrongfully and there were angry drivers honking angrily and yelling curse words at us.
Somehow, the scene made me snicker.
Once Damien and I settled in the car, he drove off, leaving behind the other angry drivers. “Since they decided to curse, then there’s no need to apologize for my wrongful parking.” He said after some seconds of silence.
“They don’t,” I said in agreement, feeling a bit lighter than how I was feeling before seeing Damien. I knew once again that this man was the love of my entire universe.
“I’m going to drive back to the hospital. And when I park in the parking lot, we can talk better. But I don’t want you to go back there without clearing your head.” He said and I nodded, understanding his perspective.
“How did you find me!” I questioned. “I just had to find you, wifey. No matter what it took. I couldn’t afford you dealing with all of this alone. And I know you can be too caring and forgiving. But now is not the time to be sentimentally thinking and making decisions. You need to be harsh and selfish.” He replied and his words were like an awakening that I didn’t even know I needed.
And I feel blessed to have Damien by my side.
“You’re right.” I told him and soon, he was parking right outside the huge hospital.
“Love, now, I want you to tell me everything you feel and everything you are thinking regarding this situation,” Damien said as he turned to face me, his attention was fully on me and it made me feel seen and loved
“I don’t know if I should keep on disliking her or if I should just help her all the way. I don’t know what decision to make. I don’t want to have regrets, and I don’t want to put myself in a situation that will end up hurting me as well. So it’s really confusing” I expressed myself, hoping the solution glares at me
“If she woke up, then it means she is no longer in critical condition. I will sort out all her medical bills. The nurses will take good care of her. We can even get a personal nurse for her therapy session. She will do just fine without you being there, you can send your well wishes from afar. You don’t have to be in a situation with Eva that you don’t have to be in. She’s not worth all these troubles. This is my opinion.” Damien expressed and I found wisdom in his words. He is really the stable ground. I have been looking for since I got the news.
I’ve been dwindling in confusion. But it turns out that all I needed was Damien Chad.
And a smile spread across my face, “Thank you, thank you so much.” I said to him as I felt so lightened in my heart.
“You don’t need to thank me, love. It’s what I’m supposed to be for you. The calm to your storm. I love you, wifey.” He replied and pecked my forehead

Chapter 38
“Nevertheless, thank you for being that for me.” I smiled at him
you can offer. And it’s so much more than she
“Delores can go check on her and deliver your message to her. This is all you deserves.” He said and I nodded in agreement.
She doesn’t deserve me, after everything she has put me through
For the following minutes, Damien spoke with Delores. He told her that Steven would accompany her and they would deliver some certain messages.
She also spoke with me.
“I am happy that you were able to make the best decision for yourself.” She had complimented me.
Thanks to Damien for awakening my rational self. I had told her. And we talked a bit more about how I was feeling before the call ended.
“Now that that is settled, what does my baby girl want?” Damien fully faced me in his car seat and asked me. Another shy smile graced my lips as I stared at him in awe.
“You have magical powers” I stated, “Because how else did you make me get so calm after the way I’ve been feeling all day?” I queried.
“If loving you and wanting you happy is a magical power, then I claim it. He grinned back at home. “You are wonderful,” I said to him because he might fully understand just how much he did for me.
Now, I have no guilt or regret. No confusion. No negative feeling that is dragging me down. I’m just back to being me. Eva shouldn’t have another chance to shake up the stability I’m working so hard for
“Let’s go fill our stomachs with a good Chinese meal, what do you say?” He asked and I nodded my head immediately.
Let’s go!” He hollered excited and I laughed at his cuteness and his effort to keep putting a smile on my face.
The aroma alone Soon, we arrived at the restaurant and ordered a full–course meal that took up all the space on the table. was enough to send my taste buds into a state of frenzy but they held on rightly and allowed me to enjoy the deliciousness and sweetness of the meal
Damien and I chit–chatted about other random things that brought smiles to my face..
“Are you going to establish your catering brand here in Miami, now that you are with me?” Damien asked for a while.
“I haven’t thought about it. I think some of my goals will have to change.” I replied and he nodded his head.
His phone began to ring and he mouthed ‘Steven‘ to me before he answered it. I was curious to know how he and Delores”
visit to Eva went.
And just under a few seconds, the call ended and Damien gazed at me softly, then said something that left me in surprise.
“Eva wants to see you and I. She said she needs to seek redemption for her sins.”
