Chapter 63
Damien’s POV:
I can see what was happening. I was scared that it was happening because it was something I knew I couldn’t put a stop to and it was also something I knew would explode back in Irene’s face.
Like a boomerang effect.
I fear for what the near future holds for her.
I fear all the shocking things that will unfold even though I’m totally not aware of what those shocking things could be. But I know those things would happen and it wouldn’t leave a good impact on anyone that gets the brunt of it
“I know what to do,” Irene said and walked back into the room, going to check on Eva again. Paranoia has filled up and she is not so mentally aware of all the things she was saying or the decisions she was making

Yet, I was curious to know exactly what she wanted to do about this pressing matter. I want to know how deeply she has been caught up in the webs of her step–sister.
Not that I doubt that Eva is in a bad place mentally, but I couldn’t fully trust her. I have had a firsthand experience of what her deception and betrayal smell like. I know the kind of games she is capable of playing just to achieve her goals.
So what if all of this was a game of chess she was playing? Even when she is not certain of winning the game, she plays it anyway because she has always been a huge risk–taker.
And Irene was deaf to whatever anyone wanted to say. All she cares about right now is protecting Eva from committing that grave mistake that actually leads to a grave.
“What do you plan to do?” I asked her after she confirmed that Eva was alright, checking that there were no sharp objects
around her.
“I will talk to the reporters myself.” She replied and I internally groaned because it meant she was going to be exposing herself to those vultures with microphones and cameras. This was something I’ve been protecting her from and yet, Eva had all the power to make her risk herself.
Why does Irene have to have a soft heart?
She forgave me. She could very much forgive Eva if the lady begs enough and deceives her with fake emotions that may seem real. And a blinded Irene wouldn’t be able to see through the entire facade.
I have experienced it and I know what she is capable of.
So once again, I’m so scared for her.
“Don’t expose yourself, Irene. I can deliver the message on your behalf” Steven had interjected before I could express my disapproval knowing fully well that there was a high chance she would not listen.
“It wouldn’t silence them the way it would if I said it. I’m Eva’s stepsister, it would move them more and we wouldn’t keep dealing with their Shenanigans.” She argued her point, and I knew she was wall. We can’t talk to her.
We can’t penetrate,
“Okay, so what do you want to say to them?” I asked, at least we should all be prepared.
“Don’t worry, Damien. It’s not anything that will put us all into trouble.” She answered. “Steven, please stay with Eva.” She told him. “Dantien let’s go together.” She said to me.

And we all did as she cod because she was in charge and I didn’t want to rouse more frustration in her by not doing what she asked of us. She’s emotional and she’s running on sentiments, but I know pretty soon, she would be able to see things more clearly and do what is right for herself and everybody else.
“Make sure she do anything stupid,” Irene said to Stever one more time before we both walked out of th heading outside to where the reporters had gathered and disturbing the peace of a medical facility.

“I’m with you, wifey,” I told her once we reached outside and the reporters gathered us, already throwing questions at us.
“Why did she want to kill herself?”
“Did you abandon your sick sister in the hospitali
“Is that why she wants to kill herself?”
Similar and annoying questions like that were being thrown in the air like that. And it took all of my self–control not to plunge at some of these merciless creatures and beat the hell out of them.
They had no shame. All they wanted was to get that ‘hit‘ story
“Silence everyone!” Irene shouted at the top of her voice. It was a rare sight to see a fierce Irene taking charge of a situation
“You want to hear the story, then you keep those mouths shut and hear all I have to say.” She yelled at them and silence instantly took over.
“My sister had a terrible accident and incurred some injuries, while we don’t know if they are permanent or not, we are doing our best to support her physically and emotionally. So instead of making someone going through hardships your headlines and kick–starting rumors, focus on other problems going on in the country and leave my family out of it. Also. my sister never tried anything. She is resting right now and will follow us home once she is discharged.” Irene said all of that in one breath. And it was so damn impressive even if I was not in full support of what she said.
The part where Eva will come home with us. But I won’t go against Irene’s decision. Or at least, not yet.
“Lastly, this is a facility for sick people. Please vacate the premises right now before force is being used. This is a message from the hospital’s director.” She said, grabbed my hand, and walked back into the hospital. Leaving an outburst of paparazzi behind.
While admiring her courage and fierceness, I couldn’t help but think about the new decision Irene made.
As we walked back to the room Eva was in, all I could silently hope for was that my instincts were very wrong.
