Chapter 89
Eva’s POV:
“Era, you are so good at this! I muttered under my breath with grin, swirling the wine in my glass. The crimson liquid caught the light, casting a faint reflection of my pleased smile. The house was quiet, the kind of silence that lets you think. lets you saver every moment of victory.
George and Lenora were still busy with their wedding plans, completely absorbed in their own little world. Delores and Irene were off at some catering job for the day, working their fingers to the bone. Charlie was in school, and Damien-well, Damien was at the office, busy being the dutiful, clueless husband. Everyone was exactly where they were supposed to be.
And me? I was alone. And I loved it
Everything was falling perfectly into place. It’s funny, really. Irene had been the one to serve up the perfect opportunity on a silver platter when she left. She made it all too easy for me. I still can’t believe she thought leaving Damien behind would solve her problems. If anything she practically delivered him to me.
“Such a fool,” I whispered, taking another sip of wine. “What did you think would happen, Irene?”
Did she think I would just let her go? Did she honestly believe that by leaving, I’d give up? Discard all my plans? No, no. She’s more naive than I ever thought. Irene Boden actually believed would change, that there was redemption for someone like
me Pathetic
Neither she nor Damien had the slightest clue how closely I had been watching them. Overhearing their little arguments, their doubts, their crumbling trust-it was all just so perfect. Since that moment, I made sure to up my game. I paid attention to every detail, carefully weaving myself deeper into Damien’s life.
The drinking, the nights I let him spiral Confusing his already fragile mind, making sure he believed he had no one else. Tapping into his phone? Oh, that was just a bonus. I saw all his desperate plans to track Irene down, his attempts to piece things together. He had no idea I was five steps ahead of him the entire time.
And Irene, bless her foolish heart, had packed her things and fled like a thief in the night with her little bastard son and that obnoxious best friend of hers. Did she really think that was the end? Did she really think I would just let her escape?
No, my dear. I’m just getting started.
I stood up from the couch, strolled through the living room, my heels clicking softly against the wooden floor. The house felt larger when it was empty as if it were mine already. I could almost taste the satisfaction of knowing that soon enough, it would be.
I walked toward the hallway, pausing as I passed the mirror. I looked at myself, studying the reflection that stared back at me. A wicked grin slowly curled onto my lips. I knew exactly what I was doing. I always did.
But before I could relish in my triumph, I heard the front door creak open. I frowned, placing the wine glass down on the nearest table. I wasn’t expecting anyone.
Trene?” I called out, my voice dripping with false sweetness as I made my way to the door. And there she was, standing in he entrance, looking more defeated than I’d ever seen her.
Tva,” she said still
stilly, her eyes narrowed,
“Well, well, look who’s home early, I cooed, folding my arms as leaned against the wall. “Did the catering gig not go as lanned

Chapter 89
“I came to check on Charlie, she said finally, stepping further into the house. “I don’t trust you around him.”
I let out a low chuckle. “Oh, Irene, still playing the protective mother. How sweet. But you don’t need to worry about Charlie. I adore the kid
“You don’t adore anyone,” she spat, her voice sharp. “I know what you’re doing, Eva. I know what you’ve been planning all along
I raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “And what exactly am I planning, dear sister?”
She stepped closer, her face tight with anger, “You’re trying to destroy everything. You want Damien, you want to ruin my life, and I swear, I won’t let you.
I smiled, taking a step back as if to give her space to breathe, but we both knew it was a game, “You really think you’re in control here, don’t you? That you can just stop me? You left, Irene. You ran away. You abandoned everything. And you expect me to believe that you have the power to stop me now?”
She clenched her fists, her whole body trembling with fury. “I will protect my family.”
laughed., a cold, mocking laugh that echoed through the room. “Your family? You mean the one you ran away from? The ne you left me to take care of? Oh, Irene, you’ve made it so easy for me. Damien is mine now. You’ve handed him over without even realizing it.”
ler eyes flashed with pain, and for a moment, I almost pitied her. Almost.
You’re wrong,” she whispered, her voice cracking slightly. “He doesn’t love you.”
le doesn’t have to,” I said, stepping closer to her now, my voice low and menacing. “Because he won’t have a choice. You’re e one who abandoned him, remember? You’re the one who ran. And now, I’m the one he trusts.”
ne stood frozen, her face pale. I could see the doubt creeping in, the fear taking over. She knew I was right. She knew that e had given me all the ammunition I needed to take everything from her.
it just as I was about to push her further, she suddenly straightened up, her eyes locking onto mine with a fierce termination. “This isn’t over, Eva,” she said through gritted teeth. “I will fight you.”
mirked, crossing
my arms again, “Good luck with that, sis.
d with that, she turned and stormed out of the house, leaving me standing there, basking in the thrill of our frontation. I watched her go, knowing that her fight was futile. She could try, but I had already won.
oon as she was gone, I walked back to my glass of wine, taking a slow, satisfied sip. This was only the beginning.
ey’re not ready.” I whispered to myself, feeling a shiver of excitement course through me. Damien wasn’t ready. Irene n’t ready. None of them were.
s ready to take everything I wanted. And I wouldn’t stop until they were both completely broken.
a a final smirk, I raised my glass in a mock toast, “To the Boden sisters, I murmured, cackling softly to myself. “One of ill come out on top, and it sure as hell won’t be you, Irene.”
