Chapter 28
Seraphina hopped into a taxi and headed over. The company was in a luxurious office building. The lobby was bustling, and the receptionist was beautiful and courteous. About ten employees were hard at work, and everything felt professional.
After signing in, the receptionist led Seraphina to meet the director, David Brown.
The receptionist knocked on the office door and said, “Mr. Brown, this lady is here to apply for the sales position.”
The middle–aged man with little hair looked up, his eyes lighting up as he saw Seraphina. She stood out in any crowd with her looks and charm. When she walked through the office, she had already caught the attention of the male staff, their compliments trailing behind her.
“Come in, please,” David said, standing up with enthusiasm.
Seraphina approached his desk with a slight smile on her face. “Mr. Brown, nice to meet you. I’m Seraphina Johnson, and here’s my resume.” She then handed the files in her hand.
“Please, have a seat.” David gestured for her to sit as he accepted the files.
Seraphina took a seat, and David also sat down to flip through her resume. “You studied languages, but why aren’t you in a related field?” David asked.
“I’m currently looking for a higher–paying job,” Seraphina replied honestly. “I think your company’s sales positions have great potential.”
“The ambition for a solid paycheck is a good sign.” David nodded approvingly. “Only those who are really money–driven put in the effort. You’re smart and stunning–perfect for our sales team. Our company is all about providing a platform for those with big dreams. You’ve got a keen eye for choosing us.”
Seraphina smiled softly and said, “I also hope I can get the opportunity.”
“Absolutely,” David said with a chuckle. “We don’t let talent slip through our fingers. We’re like the scouts of the business world who look for the next star. I think you fit right into what we need. So, I’m officially offering you a position, Ms. Johnson.”
“Thank you.” Seraphina nodded and asked, “When can I start to work?”
“How about tomorrow?” David suggested, pulling out a brochure from his drawer and handing it to her. “This is our company’s promo material. Take a look when you have time to familiarize yourself with our development and products.”
“Sure thing.” Seraphina took the brochure with both hands. “Thanks, Mr. Brown.”
After leaving, she found a nearby café to dive into the company’s information.
Not long after she left, the door to the general manager’s office swung open. In came a middle–aged man in a gray shirt. His hair was slicked back and shone under the light. He looked a bit troubled as he pushed open the door to David’s office.
“Mr. Smith,” David said, pausing his typing as the general manager, Michael Smith, entered.
Michael walked toward the desk, his expression grim. “Did you manage to pull any strings with Mr. Taylor? We can’t let that multi–million–dollar deal slip away.”
David said with a frown, “Mr. Taylor is tough as nails. I’ve tried sweetening the deal, but he’s not biting.”
“Doesn’t he have any flaws?”
David shrugged. “Nothing seems to get through to him.”

Michael drummed his fingers on the desk, muttering, “Everyone’s got weaknesses. If it’s not money, then…” He trailed off, his eyes landing on Seraphina’s resume, where her photo was displayed.
Most people’s ID pictures were a nightmare, but hers was striking. Michael paused and picked up her resume to get a closer Most people’s ID pictures were a nightmare, but hers

“Who’s she?” Michael asked.
David explained, “Just a girl who came in to apply for sales. She looks promising, so I hired her on the spot. She starts to work from tomorrow. I’m just entering her details now.”
Michael stared at Seraphina’s photo, a thoughtful look crossing his face. ‘If her ID picture is this stunning, the real person must be out of this world, he wondered.
After a brief moment of thought, Michael set down the resume and told David, “Call her right now. Tell her to come back immediately. We’ve got a big deal on the table, and I want her on it.”
At the café, Seraphina was just about to order lunch when her phone rang. “Hello?” she said.
“Ms. Johnson? This is David from Vision Tech Equipment. Do you have time to come back to the office today? Our general manager is about to discuss a major deal, and we’re short a hand. He looked over your resume and thinks you’ve got great potential. He wants to personally mentor you…”
Without even taking a bite, Seraphina hurried back to the office, and the

The moment Michael saw Seraphina in person, he couldn’t help but be impressed. She was even more striking than her photo. She was fresh–faced, with a hint of sophistication that men always find

“Yes,” replied Seraphina.

“Now that you’re officially part of the team, mind if I call you Sera?” Michael said with an overly friendly grin. “I originally planned for you to start tomorrow, but I just got word of a major business meeting today.
“My assistant’s out, and I’ve got a ton of documents to prepare. I came across your resume, and you seem to have a lot of potential, so I asked David to call you back. I hope I didn’t interrupt your day.”
“Not at all.” Seraphina shook her head and replied, “I’m between jobs, so I can start anytime. And getting the chance to join you at a business negotiation is invaluable. I’ll learn a lot, and that’s exactly what I need right now.”
“With that attitude, you’re going places. You’ve got what it takes to be one of our top salespeople.” Michael gave her a promising look. “To be honest, I’m not too impressed with our current sales manager. If you perform well over the next few months, there’s no reason you couldn’t be fast–tracked for a promotion.”
Even though Seraphina knew this was likely just the motivational talk that bosses often give to new employees, it still fueled her determination.
“Mr. Smith, I’ll work hard.” With her debt hanging over her, there was no room for slacking.
“Good.” Michael seemed pleased. Then, he gave her the rundown. “Sera, get some materials ready. We’ll be heading to the restaurant at five sharp.”
“Got it,” Seraphina replied with a smile.
She dove into the task, gathering everything she needed and using any extra time to finish reviewing the company’s promotional materials. By the end, she had a decent grasp of their products and features.
At 5 p.m.,
she and Michael left for the restaurant. It was one of the most luxurious five–star hotels in Angoria, an ideal place
