Chapter 47
While Clarence was on his business trip over these past few days, he would call Seraphina every day, just like a husband reporting his whereabouts. This filled her heart with warmth and security.
Yet, he grumbled. “So if I don’t call you, you’re not going to call me either?”
Seraphina wasn’t the type to be proactive. Mostly, she was afraid her call would interrupt Clarence. After all, with her current status, she couldn’t afford to get too comfortable. So, she tried to keep a sense of restraint in everything she did.
She softly replied, “I’ll just wait for your call”
Seraphina’s gentle tone tugged at Clarence’s heart, causing him to speak with a bit more tenderness. “Silly girl. If you miss me, just call anytime!
Her heart filled with sweetness, and she responded warmly, “Okay. Then, she asked, “When are you coming back?”
Tomorrow
“Okay”
“What’s that? Miss me?
Instead of answering directly, Seraphina said, I’ll be waiting for you to come home.”
Clarence was a little puzzled by her response but still said, “Alright.”
“Okay. I’ll hang up now. I don’t want to disturb your work.”
After hanging up, Seraphina felt a warmth spread through her, lifting her spirits. Though their conversation hadn’t involved any sweet nothings, it still left her feeling incredibly content.
The moonlight spilled across the room like a veil. As Seraphina slept soundly, she suddenly felt someone kissing her, a ücklish sensation dancing across her face. Instinctively, she reached out and touched something soft and fluffy. Instantly, her drowsiness disappeared.
She opened her mouth to call out, but a pair of warm lips pressed against hers, silencing her. “Mmm” She struggled to make a sound
Her mind raced, wondering, How could someone sneak into this villa with such tight security? Wait. I think I smell a faint scent of mint. The one kissing me… Is it Clarence?
Finally, Seraphina focused on the face of the man kissing her. And sure enough, it was Clarence
“Not resisting anymore?” he asked, his tone teasing with a hint of mischief
Seraphina pouted and gave Clarence a light shove. “Do you expect me to be obedient to someone else?
“Fair point”

Clarener leaned over her, his presener close and warm. In the dim light, his deep eyes seemed to hold an undercurrent of emotion. “I missed you, so I came back carly,” he said softly
Those umple words spoke louder than any lengthy explanation making Seraphina’s heart skip a beat.

She thought to herself. He missed me? Isn’t that something only someone who truly cares would say?
Even though Seraphina constantly reminded herself to keep her feelings for Clarence in check, his unexpected tenderness always managed to stir her emotions, leaving her touched in an instant.
Who wouldn’t be moved when such a perfect man says he missed you?‘ she mused. How many girls could remain unaffected? Probably none
No matter how composed and reserved Seraphina tried to be, she was still just an ordinary girl at heart. She wasn’t some ethereal, untouchable fairy. Sweet words could still move her.
When she woke up the following morning, the sun was already high in the sky. The house staff, knowing better than to disturb them. had stayed away.
Seraphina had slept on Clarence’s arm the entire night, and as she slowly woke, she thought that his arm must be completely numb by now. Feeling a pang of guilt, she quietly shifted her body and slipped out of bed, trying not to wake
him.

After stealing one last glance at the still–sleeping Clarence, she tiptoed out of his room. Once back in her own room, sh freshened up and applied a light touch of makeup, leaving her looking bright–eyed and radiant.
By the time Seraphina arrived at the dining room, Clarence was already there, sitting at the table, perfectly dressed and ready for the day. She couldn’t help but think, “He was still sleeping when I left. How did he get ready so fast?”
Why didn’t you sleep in a little longer?” Seraphina asked as she walked over to him.
I’ve got a meeting to attend,” Clarence replied coolly, but his hand reached out toward her.
Seraphina placed her hand in his, and he pulled her to sit beside him. His eyes lingered on her freshly made–up face, his lips quirking into a playful smirk. “Did you put on makeup to hide how tired you are from last night?”
She didn’t answer right away, thinking instead that she had done it so that Clarence would be in a good mood when he saw her. After all, who doesn’t enjoy beautiful things?

Seraphina ariswered the call, “Mom”
“Sera. I’ve got some great news for you!” Shirley’s voice was filled with excitement. “I got a call from NexGen Group this morning. I got the job! I’ll be their Finance Director.”
“Congratulations. Mom. Make sure you give it your best,” Seraphina replied cheerfully
Shirley’s excitement bubbled over. “Of course, I will! You know what, Sera? Ms. Dickens, the company’s CKO, interviewed me personally. She’s not only beautiful but also incredibly poised. She speaks so well and has such a down–to–earth personality. Honestly, she’s perfed”
She kept praising Jennifer “Sera, she’s about the same age as you and she’s already the CEO of the company. So young and
complished. If you ever get the chance to meet her, you’ll see just how amazing she is
