Chapter 63
Thomas clicked on Lucia’s phone number, intending to call her. But before he clicked called, he gave up. After hesitating. Thomas searched her profile on WhatsApp. He clicked on her profile picture–it was her, wearing a flight attendant’s uniform, stunning and radiant, like a star in the night sky, exuding a unique charm.
Without lingering too long, Thomas confirmed it was Lucia, minimized the picture, and sent her a straightforward message: I’m Thomas]
Sunlight streamed over Lucia, who was sitting cross–legged on the floor. She had just finished a yoga session and was still glistening with sweat.
Just as Lucia picked up her phone, she saw a text from Seraphint Lucia, I had sent Tommy your phone number. Thanks for your help last night. He wants to treat you to dinner as a thank–you.]
I know there’s been some misunderstanding between you two, but you’ve already done him a big favor. Just help him out one more time and go to dinner. Tommy doesn’t like owing people, and he’ll only feel at ease if you accept his invitation. Thanks again. Lucia]
Lucia sighed. Last night, Seraphina had asked her for a favor to pretend she had pulled some strings with Clarence to sort out Jeremy Thinking it wasn’t the right time for Seraphina and Clarence’s relationship to be made public. Lucia had agreed. What Lucia hadn’t anticipated was having to dine with Thomas, that bad lad. She didn’t get along with him, and she could already imagine the awkwardness of that meal. She texted Seraphina back: [You have to come too.]
Seraphina responded quickly: [Deal.) They had a problem before, and if she wasn’t there, they would be a little embarrassed.
After reading Seraphina’s text, Lucia noticed a new notification on WhatsApp. Opening it, she saw a message from Thomas, Looking at the cold, blunt I’m Thomas.] in his message, Lucia shook her head. She thought, “Typical guy. And that profile picture just a soccer ball.
Lucia added Thomas‘ number to her contact list for Seraphina’s sake but didn’t reply. Exiting the chat, she scrolled through Twitter. Not even a minute later, a new message pinged in. She switched back to the conversation.
Thomas had messaged her: (Are you busy?]
Lucia thought, No small talk, straight to the point. He is definitely the no–nonsense type. She texted: [What does it matter if I’m busy?]
Thomas typed: [I’m heading to Kingsland for training next Monday. Let’s grab a meal sometime in the next few days.]
Lucia thought, ‘His tone is so overbearing as if my schedule has to fit his. She huffed internally and typed: [Not free] but didn’t send it. After a brief hesitation, she deleted the words and rewrote her reply: I’m flying out the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow’s my only free day.]
Thomas texted: [What do you want to eat?
Lucia replied: [The more expensive, the better.]
Thomas didn’t miss a beat: [6 PM at Etoile Royale tomorrow. Seafood buffet.)
That was the most luxurious seafood buffet in Angoria, over 300 dollars per person, and all the seafood was flown in fresh
every morning.
Lucia, feeling smug, didn’t reply. She thought, ‘Even a 300–dollar seafood buffet felt like a bargain for that guy.
“Lucia” The door opened, and in walked a handsome middle–aged man wearing glasses, his face lighting up. “Sweetheart, have some orange juice. It’s good for your skin.

Kemp gazed affectionately at his daughter, pride filling his eyes. My beautiful Lucia. With such elegance, why don’t you act in one of my movies instead of flying around all the time, making me worry!”
Tad, flying is the safest mode of transportation. Lascia said between sips, giving him a quick fact check.
Kemp said, “But if something does happen, there’s no walking away.”
With a dad as amazing as you, nothing will happen to me.” Lucia gave Kemp a playful wink and finished her juice in one go. Thanks, Dad. I’m off to shower.
“Go on, then Kemp took the glass from Lucia.
The workout room had its own shower, so Lucia went straight in for a rinse.
Kemp tidied up the yoga mat and picked up Lucia’s phone from the floor. The screen was still on, paused on her chat with
Thomas
A conversation with a boy? Kemp, who adored his daughter, felt his sense of morality waver as he couldn’t resist reading the entire exchange between her and Thomas.
Kemp thought. This is clearly a date. My precious girl is secretly dating someone? Lucia’s replies to Thomas definitely have a playful teasing tone. Who talks like that if they’re not in a relationship? Oh no, the daughter Ive lovingly raised for 22 years is about to be snatched away by some random boy‘
Thomas showed up half an hour early, waiting at the entrance of Etoile Royale.
Seraphina arrived.
Wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses, Thomas leaned against the wall, casually scrolling through his phone, looking effortlessly handsome.
Young girls who passed by couldn’t help but glance his way. But no one recognized him as Thomas Johnson, the rising

After all, athletes didn’t have the same universal fame as movie stars.
It was only when Seraphina walked up that Thomas looked up.
“Hope you don’t mind me being the third wheel, Seraphina chuckled,
“You are not even one. Thomas slipped one hand into his pocket, looking as cool as ever. His tone carried a slight air of arrogance. “It’s just a thank–you dinner.
Seraphina thought, ‘Even Lucia can’t meet his eyes. His ego is really sky–high. There’s no hope for him at this rate. But he’s always disliked spoiled, entitled girls. While most guys prefer the delicate, sweet type, Thomas can’t stand them. And Lucia is clearly not that kind of girl:
Seraphina had thought about explaining to Thomas that Lucia wasn’t a typical heiress, but decided against it. With someone as literal–minded as him, playing matchmaker would only doom Lucia to misery. Thomas seemed destined to be single forever. He’d probably end up settling down with one of his die–hard fans if he ever wanted a wife.
After waiting for a few minutes, a white sports car sped into the parking lot and pulled up in front of the restaurant. Ironically, it parked right in front of Thomas‘ motorcycle. The contrast in wealth was striking

shoulders. With sunglasses an, she looked chic and stunning. As Lucia stepped out of the car, Thomas caught a glimpse of her in profile. Her snug dress accentuated her slender waist, showcasing just how slim she was.
Lucia scanned the area and quickly spotted Thomas and Seraphina.
Seraphina gave Lucia a small wave,
Lucia smiled slightly, removed her sunglasses, and tucked them to her bag as she walked over to the siblings.
“Got caught in a bit of traffic,” Lucia said to Seraphina, not sparing a glance at Thomas
“No worries, traffic’s pretty bad at this hour, Seraphina replied,
