Chapter 83
Once, Clarence cared deeply for Catherine and responded to her every call. But Randy knew that Clarence saw Catherine merely as a sister. However, Catherine’s feelings for Clarence were not as simple and pure.
Randy thought, ‘She must have done something that made Clarence aware of her romantic feelings for him, which is why he suddenly changed his attitude toward her and became distant. As a result, even after she had the accident, Clarence did not come to visit her. In the past, he would have rushed to the hospital to comfort her.
Kandy had seen Clarence treat several girls who had crushes on him in the same way.
“Ms. Howard, you should take some rest. I will handle everything else, Randy said sternly. “The car was severely damaged. Do you want to write it off or have it repaired?”
Tears slipped from the corners of Catherine’s eyes as she softly said, “Randy, tell me honestly, Clarence originally planned to give that car to Seraphina, right?”
Women’s intuition was always sharp.
Randy tactfully replied. “Ms. Howard, the car has been severely damaged. I suggest you write it off. Even if it is repaired, its performance won’t be the same as before. Some things need to be let go.
Catherine understood that Randy’s non–denial was actually an affirmation. He was just afraid that too direct an answer would hurt her pride.
Five years ago, she had seen Clarence kissing Seraphina on the street and then asked Clarence to give her that white car. At the time, she guessed that Clarence wanted to give that car to Seraphina, so she took advantage of the affection Clarence showed her and made the request first.
Clarence had readily given the car to Catherine, which surprised her somewhat. She thought she had won and didn’t dig deeper into it.
Looking back now, Catherine realized that Clarence had done it for another reason.
After Randy left, Catherine asked Allen to bring her phone. She made a call and spoke in a foreign language, “Rafael, please do me a favor and check if Clarence ordered a Ferrari five years ago.”
About half an hour later, Catherine received a return call. The man said, “Ms. Howard, Mr. Vanderbilt did order a 458 Italia five years ago, but he later canceled it.”
Catherine didn’t reply a word, silently hanging up the phone, thinking. There was indeed something hidden. The reason he so readily gave me that car was because he wanted to gift a more expensive sports car to Seraphina. I thought I had won, but in fact, I had already lost.
The next morning, Seraphina received a call from Thomas. “Sera, I’m sending you Lucia’s address. Can you help me deliver the clothes and sunglasses in the bag to her?”
Seraphina really didn’t want to get involved in the conflict between Thomas and Lucia, as neither would appreciate her efforts, making any mediation pointless. Both of them were too proud.
Tommy. Tean help you with other things, but you need to handle this matter yourself, Seraphina said. She didn’t want to offend either of them.
Thomas didn’t push the issue. “Okay, Mom’s birthday is coming up, and I’ll find the time to come back and deal with it myself.”

“Good, the issues between you and her should be faced by you alone. Seraphina encouraged. “But Tommy, even if you can’t be friends with Lucia, she is indeed a nice girl. I hope you can be gentle with her and avoid creating new conflicts. After all, she is a girl. Don’t use such harsh words.”
Before Thomas could respond, a command to assemble came through the phone. He prepared to hang up. “I have training. bye
“Bye” Seraphina hung up the phone and leaned against the railing, lost in thought for a while. Suddenly, her body was warmed by a familiar scent of mint that wafted through the air.
Seraphina smiled gently and turned around to look at Clarence, who had just finished his shower. “Are you going to work?” She adjusted his shirt carefully, like a wife who was reluctant to part with her husband.
Clarence’s gaze softened as he lifted Seraphina’s chin. “What’s wrong? You don’t want to be apart from me?”
“Even if I don’t want to, you still have to go.”
“Not necessarily Clarence playfully rested his chin on top of Seraphina’s head. “A king can neglect state affairs, and I can skip work for my beloved. It all depends on what you do.”
Seraphina felt warmth in her heart but gently pushed Clarence away. “I don’t want to be the center of gossip, Go on, come back early. I’ll be waiting for you.”
Tll be waiting. Those words flowed into Clarence’s heart, and he couldn’t help but kiss Seraphina. “How well can you dance the standard?” he suddenly asked.
Seraphina paused for a moment and shook her head. “I can’t dance at all.”
“Then you need to put some effort into it.”
“Why?”
Tam
“I am attending a charity gala next month, and I want to take you with me.”
Seraphina’s heart skipped a beat. He actually wants to take me to a public event
Although Seraphina had never participated in such events, she had seen them on television. Charity galas were usually very high–profile, attracting media coverage. She thought. If he takes me, wouldn’t our relationship be exposed to the public?
“Even though others might not necessarily think I am his partner, they would certainly assume that a woman who could accompany Clarence to such an important event must have a special connection with him.
If he is taking me to such an important gala, does that mean I hold a significant position in his heart?
I’ve never been to one,” Seraphina murmured. “I don’t know what to do.”
“You don’t need to do anything. You just have to stay by my side and be the most beautiful girl in the room, Clarence said as he kissed Seraphina’s hand.
Seraphina smiled softly, feeling pleased by Clarence’s compliment. Then I will do my best.”
“You indeed need to work hard. The gala will be held in the form of a ball, and the committee has invited me to open with a dance. You, as my partner, will naturally be my dance partner. We will dance the standard.
Seraphina now understood why Clarence had asked her if she could dance the standard earlier. Feeling anxious, Seraphina said. There are only a few days left. Can I?”
You have a month. You can do it: Clarence looked at Seraphina with gentle determination. I believe in you.”

Encouragement always provided motivation, and Seraphina nodded earnestly. Since Clarence was taking her to a public event for the first time, she definitely couldn’t embarrass him.
Clarence was very considerate. I’ve already found a teacher for you. You will start lessons tomorrow. It will help pass the
time as well.”
Faced with Clarence’s thoughtful arrangement, she had no words to express her gratitude, so she simply gave him a farewell
kiss.
The next day, the teacher came to teach Seraphina how to dance the standard.
