A week before the engagement, Ethan Carter canceled the engagement banquet and postponed it 

for a month. 

He said, “Ava Anderson said that day happened to be her personal concert, which was very important as it was her first concert in her life, and I couldn’t be absent.” 

“We were definitely going to get engaged, what difference does it make if it’s a week earlier or a 

week later.” 

This was the third time he called off the engagement with Ava. 

The first time was when Ava said she fell ill abroad, she was very scared and missed him a lot. 

The second time, Ava said she wanted to go on a spontaneous trip, and Ethan was very worried, so he followed her. 

This was the third time. 

I put down the phone and looked at Caleb Cooper, my childhood sweetheart from a wealthy family. “Do you want a fiancée?” 

On the day of our engagement, Ethan, who was embracing Ava affectionately at the celebration banquet, watched Caleb and my engagement ceremony being broadcasted live throughout the city, and his eyes turned red. 

Caleb looked at me and said, “Did you really think it through? Can you let go of Ethan?” 

I shrugged my shoulders, “I had given him a chance, this is the third time he has called off the engagement ceremony for the same woman. I guess this is fate, we were destined not to be together.” 

“No matter how much enthusiasm, it cannot overcome the coldness of the heart, right?” 

Caleb smiled, “Now that you’ve decided, I’d like to have a big engagement ceremony. After all, the Cooper family has a lot of people to invite, and I also hope that everyone knows who the person I am going to marry is.” 

I looked at him, as if looking into his heart, but what I saw was a firm determination. Suddenly, I mustered up the courage and said, “Okay.” 

I came back home and started organizing my things. Ethan came back and looked at my suitcase, sneering, “Running away from home again, Evelyn? We’ve been together for four years, and every time we argue, you run away. Aren’t you tired of it?” 

“Just because I postponed the engagement ceremony? Do you really have to make such a big deal out of it? It’s just a one–week delay, it’s not like I’m not going to marry you.” The impatient tone

sounded as if he could slam the door at any moment. 

I said calmly, “I’m not running away from home, just organizing my things.” I added in my mind, “I’m actually planning to leave you completely.” 

Ethan took off his tie and casually instructed me, “Oh, since you’re tidying up the house, why don’t you also tidy up the guest room? Ava mentioned that it’s close to the venue of her concert, so she’ll be staying with us for a while.” 

I pushed the neatly arranged box to the corner without lifting my head and said, “Okay, tomorrow let Linda Green clean up a guest room.” 

My obedient and compliant behavior caught Ethan off guard, and his tone softened. “Alright, I know I’ve upset you. Tomorrow, you can go to the jewelry store and pick out a set of jewelry, and I’ll buy it for you. I haven’t had time to spend with you these past few days, you know, Ava has returned. Her house hasn’t been occupied for a long time, so we need to make sure it’s cleaned and arranged for her.” 

“You take care of the engagement matters these days, and I will accompany you properly after Ava’s solo concert is over, okay?” 

My heart felt like it was being crushed by a big stone, and I said, “No need to accompany me, I have a lot of things to do. I just want to tidy up some of my belongings here.” 

He didn’t ask me why there were things to clean up as soon as I moved in, he just looked at me with relief and said, “Last time Ava said she didn’t like you using that sunroom as a studio, she wanted to use it for practicing the piano. Have you finally realized that it’s time to get rid of all that junk and move out?” 

I took a deep breath and said, “Yes, I understand now. The sunroom will all belong to her tomorrow.” In my heart, I silently added, “And you, too, belong to her.” 

When Ava came back, it was the next day and I hadn’t woken up yet. The picture of Ethan and the renowned cellist Ava embracing at the airport went viral.
