Chapter 5 

The tears in Ava’s eyes were on the verge of falling. 

Ethan’s face changed dramatically. “What do you mean? Your fiancee? Explain yourself.” He tried to grab me, but Caleb blocked him with one hand. 

Caleb and they were not in the same social circle. He had always been superior, even at a regular dinner party, his status was that of the parents of the people sitting there, all of whom had to bow down to please him.

He frowned, and no one dared to make a sound. 

Ethan insisted that I make it clear, “Evelyn, I didn’t expect you to be so capable, to actually get Caleb to accompany you in this performance. Alright, you’ve impressed me, I promise the 

engagement ceremony next week won’t be postponed again, okay?” 

I didn’t even bother to look at him. Caleb hugged me and directly took me out of the private room. 

In the car Caleb drove me home, I took a deep breath and said, “Thank you, how did you know I was there?”

He laughed and said, “The phone was still on, and I heard you guys arguing. Ethan is going to pick up Ava today and he was shouting so loudly that the whole world could hear. I couldn’t eavesdrop.” 

Ethan kept calling me, but I didn’t answer. He started texting me, saying, “Evelyn, what do you mean? Did you come here today just to embarrass me and Ava?”

“The relationship between me and Ava was not what you thought. Don’t jump to conclusions.” 

“Ava has been saying that it was her who made you misunderstand, explain it to her when you go back home tomorrow, this matter has nothing to do with her.” 

“Evelyn, aren’t you coming home? Ava is insisting on staying at a hotel now, saying she doesn’t want us to argue. Please come back quickly.” 

I endured the bitterness in my heart, turned off my phone, closed my eyes, and it was really time to say goodbye. 

I stayed at my own house for one night and the next day I went to Ethan and my new house to pick up my luggage. My luggage had already been packed and the things from the art studio had been moved to my studio yesterday. The only thing I needed to take was a box of luggage that had been packed early. 

When I opened the door and went in, there was a sweet exclamation, “Ethan, the fried eggs you made are really delicious. I have been craving for your cooking since I was abroad.” 

Ethan’s indulgent voice, “Silly, if you stayed in the country, I could cook for you every day.”

ped down and said, “But you’re getting married, Evelyn probably wouldn’t like us being too close, so forget it.” 

Ethan gently embraced her, saying, “You always knew how I felt, didn’t you? Marrying her was just my parents‘ idea, I never wanted to marry her. You know that.” 

I made a loud sound by dropping the keys, and both of them were startled and looked over. 

Ethan busily let go of Ava’s hand. 

Ava was wearing a sexy red low–cut nightgown, which was my nightgown originally intended for the wedding night. Unexpectedly, not only did she move in last night, but she had already claimed everything here as her own. 

She saw the look in my eyes as I looked at her, and shyly lowered her head and smiled. “Evelyn, I didn’t bring my suitcase with me. Ethan asked me to wear your clothes first. He said this one is new, so let me wear it first. You don’t mind, do you?” 

I smiled faintly and said, “I don’t mind.” Then I went upstairs and grabbed my suitcase, only to see a mess in the master bedroom. Stockings and underwear were scattered all over the floor, and anyone could tell that something had happened here at a glance. 

Ethan followed in, wanting to close the door, “Don’t overthink it.” 

I retched for a moment, covering my mouth. “Ethan, move aside,” I said, pushing the suitcase downstairs. 

Ava timidly said, “Evelyn, are you moving away?” 

Caleb’s driver was waiting for me at the entrance, “Do you need any help?”
