Chapter 6
I shook my head and prepared to get on the car.
Ethan grabbed me and said, “What do you mean? You didn’t come back all night, and now you want to take things and leave? Evelyn, don’t go too far with this, because then I won’t have any way to reconcile with you.”
“If you moved away and expected me to coax your back, you must be dreaming.”
I laughed and finally looked at him straight in the eye, saying, “Ethan, I was tired. I didn’t want to wait for you anymore.”
I finished speaking and got on the car.
He sneered coldly outside the car window, “Fine, I thought you were just throwing a tantrum. Take a few days to calm down and think about where you went wrong.”
Caleb, the only son of the Cooper family, had an engagement that could not be low–key. The time was only a few days, but the Cooper family was extremely wealthy and quickly prepared everything.
My parents had always been persistent in wanting me to marry Ethan, which had given me a headache. In addition, they had disliked him since Ava canceled their engagement twice. However, because I liked him, they didn’t say much. Now, they saw me suddenly saying that I was engaged to
Caleb.
My mother, with a mix of surprise and worry, asked, “How did you suddenly get engaged to Caleb? Weren’t you not very fond of him since childhood?”
I shyly said, “Back then, I was young, so he always bullied me. Now that I’ve grown up, please don’t
bring up the past.‘
The two elders all smiled, and Caleb’s mother hurriedly opened the safe overnight to pick out my jewelry, fearing that the gemstones might not be big enough or shiny enough.
The day when Caleb and I got engaged was also Ava’s solo concert.
Her concert was very successful, and my engagement party with Caleb was even more grand and
romantic.
Ethan booked the largest private room in the hotel for Ava and invited a bunch of friends to celebrate, but only a few people showed up.
Ethan’s face looked unpleasant, “Why didn’t you come? You didn’t even answer the phone?”
There was a friend looking at him, “Caleb and Evelyn are engaged, who wouldn’t rush to attend after receiving the invitation? They definitely won’t be able to come.”
Ethan’s face turned pale as he grabbed his friend tightly and exclaimed, “What did you say? Caleb is

engaged to whom?”
My friend stuttered and said, “Evelyn, and, there’s a live broadcast, you know?”
The phone in the compartment rang, it was the climax of our engagement. Caleb opened the ring
box and looked at me tenderly and firmly, “Thank you for choosing me. I swear to love you and protect you for the rest of my life.” The ring slowly slid onto my middle finger, and I was in a daze
as his lips kissed mine.
Ethan smashed the bottle towards the television, “Impossible! It’s fake! How could Evelyn possibly leave me and marry another man?”
His friend’s girlfriend looked down on him and disdainfully said, “How can she not give up on you? Haven’t you stood up Evelyn three times? The engagement ceremony was canceled three times,
even the warmest heart can turn cold.”
Ethan shouted with red eyes, “It’s impossible, I said I would get engaged to her, I just postponed it for a week, I never said we were breaking up.”
The girl pouted, “Ethan, don’t you know what you think in your own heart? For the sake of Ava, you
have broken off the engagement multiple times. If I were Evelyn, I had already broken up with you long ago. Now she is going to marry Caleb, who is much better – richer and more handsome than you. The key point is that he is even more faithful than you.‘
Ethan turned around and rushed out the door, with Ava following behind. “Ethan, where are you
going?”
When Ethan arrived at the engagement hotel, I was toasting with Caleb and the guests. Ethan
rushed in and grabbed my hand, saying, “Evelyn, come back with me and cancel the engagement
with Caleb.”
Caleb grabbed him, “Ethan, today is my engagement ceremony with Evelyn. What is your purpose for causing trouble?”
