Chapter 2
Edwin did not take it seriously.
“I don’t want a nanny. I want you to take care of all the chores.”
I used to be so happy when I heard this.
But now, it only made me feel disgusted.
I picked up the keys and left without answering him.
I stepped out of the elevator.
Then, I saw Tiara show off their love on her social media account.
“A man who loves you is willing to cook for you.”
The comments were all filled with envy.
Edwin’s comment stood out exceptionally.
“Princess Tiara, I will always guard you like a knight.”
Tiara replied, “It would be better without the witch.”
Edwin and Tiara were childhood sweethearts.

They had never parted ways and even worked in the same department.
They were supposed to be together, get married, have children, and grow old together as a matter of course.
And I was the redundant one.
I was finally willing to admit that Edwin had never loved me.
I was busy all night after I returned to the hospital.
The next morning, when I was disheveled, I encountered the bright and glamorous Edwin and
Tiara.
Edwin’s expression was full of disdain, with a hint of condescension in his eyes. “I bought an extra steamed bun. Tiara is on a diet, so you can have it.”
This was the first time in seven years that Edwin had brought me breakfast.
But it didn’t make me feel happy.
Tiara’s eyes were filled with pride. “Jaliyah, please don’t mind. Edwin said I have excess fat on my waist. So you can take the bun.”

I tried to resist the drowsiness. “Sorry, I only have coffee in the morning.”
Tiara cried pitifully after I rejected her. “Edwin, does Jaliyah not like me? Did I make Jaliyah unhappy? Edwin, it’s better for us to keep our distance.”
Tiara always acted this way, knowing that Edwin couldn’t live without her.
Whenever I made her upset, she would pretend to the pitiful.
Edwin was flustered, gently wiping away Tiara’s tears with his slender fingers.
“Princess Tiara, don’t be angry.”
Then, Edwin looked at me coldly. “Jaliyah, why are you putting on airs again? Don’t forget your place.
“Apologize to Tiara now.”
I took a sip of the coffee in my hand and said, “Well, the princess really likes apologies. But unfortunately, I am not a knight.”
Edwin’s eyes were full of anger. “Jaliyah, you checked my phone? Shame on you!”
Edwin’s accusation was baseless. But hearing that, Tiara raised her voice. “It turns out Jaliyah enjoys prying into other people’s privacy.”
I did not back down, looking up and down at the arrogant woman in front of me.
“I don’t have time for that. Remember to block me when you show off your love on social media again.”
In the morning during rounds, I could always hear patients whispering.
“Do you know Dr. Herrera’s fiancé? This morning, he was flirting with a girl in the stairwell! How shameless!”
“Oh, I saw it too. That girl seems to be Dr. Rangel from the neighboring department.”
“Dr. Herrera is beautiful and kind–hearted. More importantly, her medical skills are superb! Why did–she fall in love with such a scumbag?”
I smiled and lifted the curtain, “Sir, thank you for your compliment, but I don’t like scumbags.”
The entire ward fell silent instantly.
When I finished my rounds with the intern, Edwin had already been waiting in my office.
Seeing that I had not prepared coffee for him, he scolded me.
“Jaliyah, where is my coffee? Don’t you know that I won’t have the energy to work with

the morning?
“Jaliyah, I think you should quit your job. You look like you’re about to die working as a cardiac surgeon. You should just stay at home and take care of me.”
I was already exhausted from working overnight.
Without looking at him, I leaned back on the chair and closed my eyes.
At that moment, I only wanted to take a good bath in the early spring sunshine.
Seeing that I ignored him, Edwin softened his tone. “Fortunately, Tiara bought me a cup of coffee. I will pick you up for lunch later. Let’s eat together.”
I obediently replied, “OK.”
