Chapter 5
I found my disheveled clothes in the bathroom.
Terrance’s clothes were neatly hung on the coat rack by the door, clearly separated.
The scene before my eyes pained me, and I sighed as I silently changed my clothes and walked out of the hotel.
Alma called, her tone strained, “Elliana, they wanted five hundred thousand.”
It was gloomy, and the sun was not visible.
In order to treat me, Alma did not save any money, and my savings were also pitifully small.
“They said that if you don’t give it, they will expose your matter, and they won’t tell you where Aunt’s belongings and ashes are.”
“I tried to advance a portion of my salary and asked someone to lend me a little. I should be able to gather it all next month.”
“Okay.”
-After some hesitation, I pressed a number.
12-
It took quite a while for the call to be connected over there.
“Ms. Cordova, is there something wrong?”
I sighed and said, “Dr. Lowery, I’m sorry to bother you, but…”
It seemed like Shawn Lowery was busy.
He went through several twists and turns, and finally arrived at a quiet place, patiently asking, “Encountered any difficulties?”
I took a deep breath and asked, “Can you lend me 400,000?”
This was the first time I asked someone for money, and after saying it, I felt like my whole body was on fire.
There was suddenly a commotion over there, “Dr. Lowery, emergency surgery.”
“I knew.”
I didn’t have much hope either, and I prepared myself for him to hang up the phone directly.
At the last moment, Shawn briefly said, “Send me the card number, and I will call you within today.”

After saying that, the phone hung up.
The sky remained gray and hazy.
The cold and lifeless hustle and bustle suddenly gained warmth.
In the evening, the manager knocked on my desk and said, “We are going to have dinner with the client tonight, come along.”
A few hours ago, I just advanced him a month’s salary.
With the borrowed money and the previous savings, we barely managed to scrape together five hundred thousand.
When I walked into the private room, I saw Terrance.
I watched as the tall figure effortlessly mingled with the crowd, exchanging greetings.
The brilliance refracted by the crystal chandelier outlined his handsome profile.
The manager gently pushed me forward.
All eyes immediately fell on me.
“Mr. Wilkerson, is this your company’s worker?”
Terrance glanced casually and chuckled, “Yes, newcomer.”
“What kind of newcomer needs Mr. Wilkerson to personally bring them? They look good.”
During the casual conversation, everyone took a seat.
The manager placed me next to Terrance and whispered, “Be quick–witted tonight, block the alcohol if necessary.”
The crowd asked discreetly, “Mr. Wilkerson, can this new employee drink? Or can’t he?”
Without waiting for Terrance’s response, the manager quickly replied, “Can drink, can drink.”
After finishing speaking, he pushed the wine glass towards me and said, “Let’s toast first.”
Terrance smiled and remained silent, gently tapping the table.
I picked up the wine glass, held my breath, and drank it all in one gulp.
The spicy liquor recklessly rushed into the esophagus, igniting along the way, and clamored and churned in the stomach.
