Chapter 8
The sound of instruments ticking came into my ears.
The setting sun seeped through the cracks of the blinds and fell onto the nearby sofa, resembling a beautiful layer of golden sprinkles.
I blinked my eyes, and the nightmare gradually faded a
away. I sat up.
The man sat on the sofa, quietly peeling an apple with his head down.
The fair and slender fingers were very nimble, and in no time, a whole fruit appeared.
Smooth and clean.
It was Terrance.
He heard a noise, looked up, met my gaze, silently stood up, and pressed the bell.
The doctor quickly walked in, examined my pupils, and after confirming that I had no issues, turned to Terrance and spoke.
She couldn’t keep up with her nutrition, so in her daily diet, she could focus on supplementing
some protein.
Terrance nodded and said, “Thank you.”
The door closed.
He walked to the bedside and handed me the apple, saying, “Don’t think about anything, just focus on getting better.”
I did not answer, but got out of bed and opened the cabinet to search.
The phone was lost.
There were no clothes to wear outside.
He let me mess around in the ward.
“Terrance, what did you want to do?”
I stood barefoot on the ground, a beam of sunlight shining through, reflecting my pale and haggard face on the glass.
“What I wanted to do, you didn’t know?”

Terrance placed the apple on the bedside table, took out a tissue, and carefully dried his hands. “I want you,” he said.
He sat in the light, his black eyes unabashedly staring at me, his gaze burning and… shameful.
I trembled and clenched my hand, “Terrance, you can’t treat me like this.”
Terrance got up and took a few steps towards me. He looked down at me from above and neatly combed my hair for me.
“Why not?”
“I had someone I liked, please stop bothering me.”
“Is that so?” Terrance had no trace of a smile on his face.
He held my face, leaned in, and stopped with his lips just one centimeter away from mine.
I couldn’t break free from him. At the moment I turned my head, with my eyes closed. My body trembled uncontrollably.
Terrance laughed, his cold voice pouring into her ears, “Elliana, you lied.”
