As soon as Ancesa spoke, the room instantly fell silent.
Even Susannah’s expression had frozen.
Indeed, Jaziel, a young man who had just been released from prison and had no proper job, couldn’t have gotten the money to buy an emerald bracelet worth so much.
There was also another possibility that it could be a counterfeit made of resin or glass.
“Ha!” Aneesa chuckled, her tone laced with a hint of sarcasm. “Don’t take it the wrong way, Jaziel, I don’t mean to pry. I’m just a little curious, that’s all.”
Vivian looked at Jaziel with a hint of annoyance in her eyes. This is totally out of line. If he can’t afford emerald. he could’ve gifted something else. How could he deceive people with a fake?
Right then, Timothy let out a cold huff.
He had always suspected that there was something off about Jaziel’s character. At that moment, his opinion of Jaziel had fallen even further.
Only Susannah felt some sympathy for her nephew. Even if what he bought was a counterfeit, it still represented his sincerity.
She also didn’t think Jaziel had the money to buy the real thing, but she would still appreciate the gift.
Watching Jaziel being ridiculed by s
many people, she felt a bitter taste in her heart.
Susannah thought it was partly her own fault. I knew full well that Jaz was strapped for cash, yet I insisted on celebrating my birthday. I should have offered him some financial support.
Only Caleb believed that the emerald Jaziel gave was genuine.
After all, given Jaziel’s stature at the time at Cloudview Club, gifting a real emerald was indeed a very normal occurrence.
Of course, he was more than happy to see Jaziel make a fool of himself and be misunderstood by others. He certainly had no intention of coming to Jaziel’s rescue.
However, the person in question, Jaziel, didn’t show much emotion on his face. He said nonchalantly, “Of course, it’s not fake. How could I possibly give Aunt Susannah a fake item? I chose this elysivine emerald bracelet specifically as a birthday present for her.”
However, as soon as these words were spoken, the expressions on everyone’s faces varied greatly.
Timothy uttered with a stern face, “A lie is a lie. If you’ve made a mistake, admit it. It’s not that it can’t be forgiven, but being obstinate is simply unacceptable.”
As he spoke, Timothy picked up the two bracelets that were on the table.
“Look at this bracelet Aneesa brought. It’s filled with fibrous structures. This is what real emerald should look like. Even though I don’t understand emerald, I do have some basic knowledge. The bracelet you

brought is so transparent that it’s clearly just glass. What else do you have to say? Being poor is acceptable. but lying is just wrong. One simply has to be upright, Timothy lectured.
“That’s right, Jaziel. If you can’t afford a gift, you could have just said so. You could have even borrowed some money from me. How could you lie?” Caleb added fuel to the fire.
Vivian turned her head to the side, clearly deeply disappointed in Jaziel.
Sull maintaining his composure, Jaziel turned to Timothy and said, “There are only two possibilities if there are no structural inclusions in the emerald. One, could be made of glass, or it could be of extremely high quality. Uncle Timothy, how can you be so sure it’s fake? Why can’t it be of extremely high quality?”
“You really are stubborn!” Timothy was furious. “Forget it. If you say it’s emerald, then it’s emerald. However, I won’t let Susannah wear it. What if it contains some harmful chemicals? What would we do if it harms her health?”
Timothy sat down with a dark expression on his face.
Aneesa gingerly picked up her own bracelet. “I spent twenty thousand on this bracelet. Susannah, you should put it on later.”
With that, Aneesa glanced once more at Jaziel’s bracelet, picked it up for a closer look, and casually tossed it back onto the table. “Jaziel, don’t take advantage of our lack of knowledge about emerald and act cocky here. Bennett will be here soon, and he knows a thing or two about emerald. We’ll let him determine its authenticity.
A hint of panic crossed Susannah’s face when she heard Ancesa’s words.
Susannah thought Jaziel was already embarrassed. If he were to be exposed on the spot later, he would truly be left with nowhere to hide his shame.
Susannah quickly interjected to stop them, saying, “I think there’s no need to-”
When it came down to it, she truly cared for Jaziel.
Even if Jaziel gave her a fake, she was still happy.
“Why not? I think it’s absolutely essential.” Timothy abruptly cut off his wife’s words with a cold interruption. “I have serious doubts about Jaziel’s character. When Bennett arrives, if he determines it’s a fake, it’ll serve as a lesson for him. If he can lie through his teeth to his own family, it speaks volumes about his character.”
Jaziel settled himself on the couch while Aneesa gave her husband, Bernett Fanshaw, a call, asking when he would be arriving-
After hanging up the phone, she excitedly said, “Bennett said he’s on his way. He’ll be here in about five or
six minutes.”
Sure enough, not long after hanging up the phone, there came a knock at the door.
The door opened, and in walked a middle–aged man with striking features, donning a pair of gold- rimmed glasses.

Timothy, what’s wrong with you? What’s with your gloomy expression? Are you not happy to see me?” Bennett jokingly remarked.
When it came to Bennett, whose business was faring better than his own, Timothy didn’t dare to put on any airs of superiority. He managed to squeeze out a smile and said, “Not at all. It’s just Jaziel who’s been giving me a hard time.”
At that moment. Aneesa hurriedly took hold of her husband’s hand and said. “Bennett, perfect timing. Come and tell everyone if this bracelet is really made of emerald.”
She immediately picked up Jaziel’s bracelet and showed it to Bennett,
At the same time, she couldn’t help but glance at Jaziel with a hint of smug satisfaction in her eyes. Kid, you were pretty tough–talking, weren’t you? Let’s see how you handle embarrassment later.
Nearby, Timothy also nodded in agreement. “That’s right, Bennett. Could you take a look at this emerald bracelet?
“Sure.” Bennett nodded with a grin, clearly eager to give it a shot.
He had a fondness for emeralds and had even specifically studied this field with experts. He could even considered a professional, albeit a less experienced one.
Given the chance to show off his abilities, he was more than happy to do so.
“Let me see.”
With that. Bennett took the bracelet
As he picked up the bracelet, aiming it toward the sunlight, his expression gradually grew serious.
