Chapter 20 A Girlfriend
Chapter 20 A Girlfriend
As soon as Jaziel returned to Lakefield Estates, he noticed a sedan parked right at his mansion’s entrance,
As Jaziel stepped out of the car, the door of the sedan swung open as well. A tall, beautiful woman emerged. It was Kayla.
Upon seeing Kayla, Jaziel was also taken aback. “Why are you here? Are you here to repay the money?
The day she left, he had given Kayla three hundred for her taxi fare.
Although he didn’t really care about the money, it was, after all, borrowed from him by Kayla. Hence, it was only perfectly justified for her to repay it.
With a smile. Kayla said, “I’m not just here to repay you. In gratitude for your hospitality. I’d like to treat you to a meal. Mr. Lassche, would you do me the honor of joining me? If you reject me, you’ll make me sad
After she had finished speaking, Kayla looked at Jaziel with a face full of anticipation.
In truth, Jaziel barely ate anything when he was at Susannah’s.
He wasn’t pleased with the fact that Timothy, Bennett, and the others changed their attitudes toward him.
Thus, going out again to eat something else wasn’t entirely out of the question.
Moreover, having saved Kayla, it was only natural that she would want to repay him.
Therefore, Jaziel gave a slight nod and said, “All right, then.”
Quickly, Jaziel settled himself into Kayla’s sedan and left the mansion.
Leaning against the car door, Sean took a drag from his cigarette, his gaze lingering on the departing sedan, and he was lost in deep thought. Mr. Jaziel sure has a way with women…
Kayla drove Jaziel to a restaurant, a place only known to those within their circle.
The surrounding environment was beautiful and tranquil, carrying a hint of a serene pathway leading to a secluded place.
Perhaps the guests didn’t go there solely for the food, but they were more drawn to the tranquility that took them away from the hustle and bustle.
The owner was a graceful young woman, and she affectionately greeted Kayla, “Hi, Ms. Nevison.”
Simultaneously, she subtly took a glance at Jaziel’s face
That was the first time Kayla had brought a man to dine alone at the restaurant.
Thus, it piqued her curiosity about Jaziel’s identity.
“Ms. Nevison, the dishes you ordered are prepared. Should we start serving now the young woman
asked.

“Sure.”
Kayla and Jaziel made their way toward a private room
This kind of exclusive restaurant wasn’t frequented by ordinary people.
As Jaziel passed by one of the private rooms, he could help but take a second glance.
Inside, he saw two familiar figures, Heather and Selina.
Surprisingly, the two of them were dining together.
Jaziel then recalled the last time he bumped into Selina at Dominion Group.
When Selina mentioned knowing the CEO of Dominion Group, she was probably referring to Heather.
Jaziel and Kayla soon settled down in the reserved private room.
Jaziel pulled out a cigarette, about to light it, when he heard a conversation between Selina and Heather from next door.
“Selina, I asked you to meet up this time because I need your help with something.” Heather said.
“Heather, we’re like sisters. You can just speak your mind. There’s no need for formalities.”
Selina’s tone was one of displeasure.
“All right. I’m sorry.”
Heather playfully shook Selina’s arm in a rush of affection.
Once Selina’s face broke into a smile, Heather finally said, “Recently, Dominion Group managed to secure a piece of land down south. We’re planning to develop a commercial district there. A construction company shown interest in taking on our project, but their quote was exceedingly high, so we didn’t end up collaborating with them. Unexpectedly, that construction company isn’t a legitimate business. They harbor resentment and cause trouble daily, making it impossible for our project to proceed. I had someone negotiate with their boss, who then arranged to meet with me tomorrow. The company is notorious for its underhanded tactics. From what I’ve gathered, they have a penchant for solving problems with their fists. However, you know I’m a bona fide businesswoman.”
“Are you saying you want me to back you up?” Selina asked.
She was born into a prestigious combat family, and her combat prowess was exceptionally remarkable.
“Of course not.” Heather quickly shook her head. “Selina, don’t you know what your status is? Getting you to deal with those hooligans is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Moreover, considering your status, it’s not appropriate for you to get involved in such matters. I just want you to introduce me to a skilled fighter who can help me hold my ground. I know you’ve been trained in combat arts since you were young, and you’ve met quite a few experts.”
After hearing that, Selina nodded and said, “I see… In fact, I should personally handle your matter, but my status indeed is a bit sensitive. I happen to know a highly skilled individual from the fighting community, Master Warrink, who resides in Cadrexia. He’s a practitioner of Core Boxing, and he has considerable strength. He should be more than capable of holding his own against the other party

“That’s a relief, Selina. You’ve really lifted a weight off my heart,” said Heather joyfully.
Jaziel couldn’t help but fall into deep thought after he heard their conversation. Why is a construction company resorting to such despicable methods?
Dominion Group was Jaziel’s company, yet Heather didn’t even report to him.
It made sense, though. As the CEO of the company, Heather couldn’t possibly bother Jaziel with every little thing. It would make her seem incompetent. She probably wanted to handle it on her own.
Having heard what had transpired, there was no way Jaziel could just turn a blind eye.
Engrossed in his thoughts, Jaziel didn’t notice that right next to him, Kayla was sneakily pulling out her phone to take a picture of him.
It was often said that a man who was focused was the most enchanting. At that moment, in Kayla’s eyes, Jaziel was simply brimming with allure.
By the time Jaziel returned to his senses, Kayla had already put away her phone.
The dishes then began to arrive one after the other.
“Jaziel, isn’t it a bit unfair of you to be daydreaming while dining with a beauty like me?” Kayla intentionally remarked.
“I’m truly sorry. I was a bit lost in my thoughts just now, Jaziel said with a smile.
Feeling genuinely hungry, he immediately began to pick up food with his fork. “Well, Jaziel, do you have a girlfriend?” Kayla suddenly asked, catching Jaziel off guard. “Huh? I’m just released from prison, an ex–convict. How could I possibly have a girlfriend?” At that moment, what unexpectedly flashed through Jaziel’s mind was the image of Kimberly. The woman he had once deeply loved was, ironically, the one who hurt him the most.
“That’s good, then,” Kayla blurted out. Immediately after, her face flushed a deep shade of red.
