Irene thought sadly about how things had changed between her and Yonas.
“I’m not sure, but we’ll find the culprit,” Yonas said coldly.
Irene quickly set the small table and took out the soup from the thermos. “Try it, I made it myself,” she said, her cheeks blushing slightly.
Yonas, out of respect for Mr. Lewis’s instructions, didn’t refuse. He took a sip and then put down the spoon. “It tastes great.”
Irene smiled softly, “If you like it, I can make it for you often. Yonas, Grandpa asked me about us today. He said he discussed with Nathan that if you don’t mind, we can get engaged first.”
Yonas’s expression changed, “Irene, I only see you as a little sister.”
“But I don’t see you as a brother, Yonas. I’ve always thought you understood my feelings,” Irene said, looking hurt. Her heart was uneasy; how could Yonas not accept her?
“Irene, we…”
“Is it because of Yasmine?” Irene narrowed her eyes slightly.
Yonas asked, “What?”
Irene exclaimed wildly, “It’s because of Yasmine! You like her, that’s why you don’t like me!” Her face twisted with a snarl, as if she had uncovered Yonas’s secret. Whenever they stood together and Yasmine appeared, he couldn’t see anyone else but her.
Yonas’s lips parted slightly, but in the end, he didn’t say a word.
Yasmine walked over carrying an insulated container. Today, she had Finola prepare a nourishing soup; they say you are what you eat, so they made braised pork. Just as she reached the hospital room door, she heard a woman crying inside, “Yonas, why are you treating me like this? Grandfather Nathan already spoke to you. We were engaged since we were kids; you used to treat me so well. Why has everything changed now? Is it because of Yasmine? I can’t think of any other reason than her. Just because she’s around, you think I’m some kind of wicked, selfish person?”
It was Irene’s voice, and it seemed like she was crying… Yasmine didn’t go in; she hesitated at the door. She wasn’t sure how to enter the room since Irene was already inside, saying such accusatory things. Going in would definitely be awkward.
“No, don’t overthink it,” Yonas said.
Suddenly, Irene remembered something from a meeting that afternoon and quickly said, “Yonas, EverPeak is really pleased with the goods we supplied. They said they’ll renew the contract once it expires.”
Yonas seemed to have known already. “Mr. Norton went back?”
“No, when he heard about your car accident, he couldn’t wait to come over, but I stopped him,” Irene said solemnly.
Dennis, care about him? Yonas chuckled with self–mockery. His interest probably lies in the speed of the factory’s output. How’s the factory these days?”
Irene smiled, “With ine around, you still worry? Our factories are side–by–side, and I always make sure to carefully double- check each shipment.” She shifted the topic. “But how should I respond to Nathan’s questions? This was no exaggeration. Both her grandfather and Nathan had been discussing things forrlays, all because of the two of them.

Yonas didn’t reject the notion, in fact, he agreed. However, upon hearing this, Yasmine felt it was no longer necessary to listen any further. She turned and left the hospital, her eyes as cold as ice.
In the courtroom. Yasmine and Morgan watched Yvette seated in the defendant’s chair. With an air of nonchalance, she looked around at the crowd, a smile on her face as if attending a casual meeting. Yasmine didn’t understand why Yvette wore such an expression, but she knew full well that the Flynn family must have paid a hefty price for Yvette to escape punishment.
“Plaintiff’s attorney, please cross–examine the witness,” the judge instructed.
The lawyer sitting next to Yasmine stood up and walked towards Finnian. After taking an oath, the lawyer asked, “Mr. Finnian, did Miss Yvette come to Lutz Corp, find your son Grady, and ask him to design a plan to insult my client?”
Finnian cleared his throat and said, “Yes, it was indeed Yvette.” Even though she heard his testimony, Yvette couldn’t help but show signs of panic.
Yasmine turned to look at Selena and Xavier, who both calmly accepted the situation, but Yasmine felt uneasy. Her intention was hot to make Yvette confess, even though the matter was directly linked to Yvette. Underneath the surface, there was an even more significant culprit.
All the obvious evidence was presented in court, yet Irene, who was behind the scenes, remained hidden. The fact that Yvette wasn’t flustered was itself quite suspicious.
After Finnian’s questioning was over, Yvette’s defense lawyer immediately stood up and bowed to the judge. “Honorable Judge, Ms. Yasmine Sanchez is the ex–wife of my client’s husband, so she’s biased from the start. After the incident, the real culprit has already confessed, but Ms. Sanchez insists it was my client’s doing. We request to bring the confessed perpetrator to testify.”
“Granted,” the judge said.
Yasmine slightly furrowed her brows and looked towards the door, surprised to see a familiar face. Helen, expressionless and carrying a hint of gloom, appeared in the courtroom and walked to the witness stand.
