Chapter 10

Ms. Cressen broke out in a cold sweat. At first, she was overjoyed to learn about Ken’s attendance that day, as she hoped to get promoted for taking great care of

Tanner.

Alas, her plans were ruined, and it was all Tanner’s fault. She wouldn’t have ingratiated herself to the wrong Rosenbloom if he hadn’t misled everyone into thinking he was Ken Rosenbloom’s son.

Treading cautiously, she simpered and promised she’d never make that mistake again.

Now that things were almost wrapping up, Herbert jumped out to mediate. After all, Ms. Cressen was objectively a good teacher. Besides, I didn’t act like I wanted a change in my homeroom teacher.

“Ken, I’ll apologize to you on Ms. Cressen’s behalf. If you dislike her, we can terminate her contract after Pearl graduates. Your daughter has adjusted to her environment. We wouldn’t want to change the homeroom teacher and affect the entire class!”

Ms. Cressen shot my dad an eager look. He turned to me. “Pearl, what say you?”

“I think Herbert’s idea sounds good.”

Ms. Cressen looked at me with gratitude. My dad agreed to listen to my opinion, and he instructed his driver to bring the gifts from the car.

Ms. Cressen drooled at the sight of the limited edition gift boxes.

Ken began, “Pearl told me that Ms. Cressen wears Chanel bags a lot. I thought of getting two for Ms. Cressen, but judging by what happened just now…”

Ms. Cressen stared at the two bags longingly. She would be too embarrassed to accept them now even if they were offered to her.

“Mr. Rosenbloom, you’re too nice. I cannot accept those bags-”

With a wave of his hand, my dad motioned at his driver to take back the two bags. I bet Ms. Cressen must have been grinding her teeth in anger while silently cussing Tanner out.

“The rest are Pearl’s gifts for her classmates. My secretary Joseph will take them to her class. Ms. Cressen, I’ll need your help to distribute the gifts. As for the hostile classmates…”

“I’ll dress them down! They for sure won’t be getting any gifts!”

“Joseph, go with Pearl.”

“Sure, Mr. Rosenbloom!”

Dad had wanted to go with me to the classroom and hand out the gifts, but he was bombarded by work calls on the way. So, he made Joseph stay while he and the driver headed back to his office.

Meanwhile, the classroom remained noisy. Finley was trying to get Tanner to meet up with Ken Rosenbloom and call out my bluff.

“I’m worried for you! Only our class knows that she’s pretending to be a Rosenbloom. People from the other grades think she’s the real deal. I’m not surprised that they treat her like a princess because she does act like one!”

Tanner would never dare do so. Yet, he sat firmly at his desk and announced in a righteous manner, “I do not want to bully her. Stop forcing that girl into a corner. She’s going to be really embarrassed if you call her out.”

I smirked. “Tanner, you seem to be living out your delusion right now. You should look at yourself in the mirror.”

His lackeys could not stand my caustic remarks anymore, and they started to yell at me.

Ms. Cressen showed up in time to put a stop to the chaos. “Guys, tone down! Pearl’s dad came to our school just now, and he brought everyone some gifts.” When Joseph entered the class with bags of gifts, Finley was the first to laugh at him. “Haha! Look at her dad’s outfit. I wonder if he’s an insurance agent!”
