Chapter 19

“Congratulations to you in advance then, Mr. Rosenbloom.”

After that, I got into my car without bothering to spare Tannet another glance.

Thank goodness he was still dumb as usual. I was extremely relieved, to say the least.

This year, something major happened in Aldonpolis, the city we lived in. In our past lives, Tanner relied on that incident to rope in the biggest financial backer of his career.

Richard Golding was in the midst of conducting an investment inspection in Aldonpolis. He was the youngest son of the richest businessman, Oliver Golding, in Geltrolonia. Since he had been studying overseas, no one knew who he really was.

Furthermore, a financial fraud case had just occurred in Aldonpolis. That was why Richard kept getting turned down by various companies so far. I had met him in my past life, so I did all I could to convince Tanner to work with Richard.

Now, Tanner wished to replicate what he had done in our past lives. The men that I had dispatched to monitor his movements were quick to report back to me.

Apparently, Tanner had been lurking around the hotel Richard was staying in. What he didn’t know was that Oliver valued Richard a lot, so there were bodyguards constantly patrolling the hotel’s perimeter.

That was why Tanner’s photo and life experiences were instantly drafted into a dossier and delivered to Richard’s room on the first day Tanner showed up outside the hotel.

Honestly speaking, Richard failed to understand why the people in Aldonpolis were acting so weirdly. All of the major companies refused to see him, and yet a high school dropout, who was also an ex-inmate, was extremely interested in him.

Richard could only order his men to keep an eye on that weird boy. That was why Tanner couldn’t get an opportunity to get close to Richard at all.

Oliver had only given Richard one month to conduct his investigation. Now that the time was almost up, Richard decided to send invitations to all well-known companies in Aldonpolis by using his father’s namesake.

Tanner tried to enter the hotel, only to be stopped by the staff members there. “Sir, we don’t serve customers who aren’t well-dressed.”

So, he could only change into a waiter’s outfit.

“You think you can look down on me? Once I get rich, I’ll make sure you won’t be able to survive in Aldonpolis ever again!”

Lately, my father had been meaning to expand my company’s business chain, but he was worried that the bunch of old geezers on the company’s board would refuse to do so. That was why he sent me to the hotel to try my luck and see if I could convince the Goldings to invest in Rosenbloom Group.

If the answer was yes, my dad would start a new company for me so that I could practice running it.

I arrived at the hotel happily. Just as I reached the entrance, I heard Tanner’s confident declaration. The crowd behind him guffawed out loud upon hearing his words.

As usual, Tanner was extremely confident for no reason.

“Where did that weirdo come from?”

A bunch of young heiresses gathered together to gossip with each other before the start of the banquet.

An old man rushed in from the outside, resulting in him accidentally bumping into Tanner, who was balancing a tray on his hand.

It was just a light bump-the red wine in the glasses didn’t even sway from the bump. But Tanner’s temper got the better of him. He threw the tray away before rushing over to shove the old man angrily.

“Hey, old coot! Are you blind?”

The old man was about to apologize when he noticed how arrogant Tanner was being. So, he just harrumphed icily in return.

“Mr. Golding has hosted this banquet for entrepreneurs only! Where did you come from, you old coot? Hurry up and leave!”

The old man stumbled due to Tanner shoving him. I quickly rushed over to catch the old man.

Tanner really was an idiot!

When Tanner noticed me, disdain was quick to flicker across his eyes.

“Wow, Pearl! To think that you’re even targeting old men! You really are a slut, huh? Even if I don’t accept you as my girlfriend, that doesn’t mean you should lower your standards that much, right?

“I’ll be Mr. Golding’s business partner soon. If you get down on your knees and beg for my forgiveness, I might consider giving you one more chance.”

After I helped the old man to the side, I didn’t hesitate to deliver a heavy slap across Tanner’s cheek.

“You… You bitch! I’ll-”

Just as Tanner raised his hand, Richard came to my rescue.

“Stop it!” he exclaimed.

Tanner was delighted to see him. He snarled out to me, “Consider yourself lucky this time!”

Then, he smoothed down his clothes before approaching Richard quickly. “Mr. Golding, I’m Tanner Rosenbloom. It’s a pleasure to work with you.”

Richard frowned instantly. “What?”

“The investment, of course! I accept your investment, but you mustn’t interfere with my company! Rich scions like you have no idea how to run a company, after all.”

Richard gazed at Tanner, clearly amused. “Which project are you planning to get me to invest in, then? Do you have a business proposal? How much annual profits is your project able to net us?”

Tanner was stunned by the barrage of questions. “W-Why are you asking me these questions? Isn’t it your job to give me money?”

Everyone just stared at Tanner like the idiot he was.

Did that waiter go nuts? What he did was equivalent to asking for 200 dollars from a random passerby on the streets!

Besides, Richard needed to conduct an investigation on his future business partners before deciding if he wanted to invest in them! That waiter was clearly poor and stupid. Was he planning to ask Richard to sponsor him?

In my past life, I had the finance department prepare all the documents in advance. All Tanner did was use what little available time he had in between his dates with Maisie to meet up with Richard once. Even then, he was quick to leave impatiently after a short while.

I was the one who had to do everything I could in order to salvage the situation. I even had to use Rosenbloom Group as a safety net in order to help Tanner secure Richard’s financial support.

Did that idiot seriously think he was that capable?

“Sorry, but I don’t do charity work.”
