Chapter 6

I knew it! Maisie had a plan all along!

As expected, the classmates were indignant about the missing necklace. “What’s wrong with Pearl? Is she going to destroy what she can’t own?”

“She’s an evil soul for stealing something worth 60 thousand dollars!”

Sandy rolled her eyes with a chuckle. “Yeah. Some people are like thieves. They spy on you and get jealous of your happiness. Maisie, you should call the police!TM

“She won’t call the police! All she knows is bluffing. That Bulgari necklace belongs to me; she stole it from me!” I revealed, but my classmates broke out in laughter.

“Hahaha! Did you just admit to your guilt?”

“We were just suspecting you, but you immediately confessed what you did!”

“Can you even afford a 60-thousand-dollar necklace? Your family isn’t that well-off to afford something like that!”

“How dare you accuse our campus belle of stealing your stuff? She doesn’t need to eye your stuff when she has Tanner as her boyfriend!”

The remarks bolstered Tanner’s confidence. Maisie walked over to me with a heartbroken and disappointed look. “Pearl, you shouldn’t lie!”

“Why bother talking to her?” Juniper grabbed my backpack and turned it upside down, shaking its contents onto the floor. Everyone’s eyes widened in shock when they spotted a shimmering necklace on the floor.

At that moment, Maisie approached the necklace with a surprised look. She had only planned to rile up her friends so they’d jeer at me. She did not expect me to really carry that necklace around.

Trying hard to suppress a grin after recouping the 60-thousand-dollar necklace, she put on an aggrieved expression. “Yes. That’s the necklace I lost! I can’t believe it’s really in your bag. I could have given it to you if you liked it that much. Why did you have to steal it from me?”

Tanner’s face fell when he discovered that the necklace was in my backpack. He betrayed a glimpse of guilt before putting on a haughty demeanor.

Meanwhile, Juniper looked evilly gleeful. She snapped at me, “What more can you say?”

The necklace was my mother’s birthday gift for me, one that I rarely wore. Two days ago, Paula informed me that the jewelry box seemed to have been opened. I checked it and noticed that a few jewelry pieces had gone missing. One of those was the Bulgari necklace.

The new driver found the necklace in the car this morning, and I placed it in my backpack. I guessed John must have stolen my jewelry, after which Tanner stole it from him to give to Maisie, However, Tanner must have stolen the necklace from Maisie, as he didn’t want John to notice the missing necklace.

How ridiculous! Maisie must not have expected the necklace to be a gift stolen from someone working in the Rosenbloom family.

I decided to check the security footage at home, as I worried that John might have stolen more valuables from my family than a few pieces of my jewelry.

I slowly began, “The necklace has an engraving of my initials!”

Maisie glanced at Tanner lovingly. She clarified, “Yes. The necklace comes engraved–but with Tanner’s initials!”

That was impossible. I snatched the necklace from Maisie’s grasp, and I was horrified to see a “TR” engraved on the necklace.
