Chapter 22
Audrey’s blunt words humiliated Camilla, who gritted her teeth and said with hatred, “Mrs. Rowe, you’re so protective of Shannon. But she isn’t as meek as you think. It’s just her facade. You’re bound to regret it for not choosing Miriam.”
A hint of disgust flashed across Audrey’s eyes. “Don’t bother, Mrs Lane. In fact, I assure you that you’ll regret what you’ve done. Shannon doesn’t need the Lanes. From now on, we’ve got er back. You and your family should stay away from her.
“We’ve been lenient with you over the years. You get to live a glamorous life all because of us. Have you forgotten how miserable you were back then? What makes you think you get to throw a tantrum here?
“Leave right now, or believe me, your family’s assets will suffer a heavy blow tomorrow. See her off, Yolanda.”
Camilla’s expression froze, and she fell silent. Meanwhile, Yolanda stepped out and made a gesture of leaving toward her. “Mrs. Lane, this way. You’re a woman with status, and I’m sure you don’t want to be escorted out by the guards.”
Camilla’s face turned sullen. She shook her hand with great force and turned around to leave dejectedly.
Meanwhile, Nicole walked over and took Shannon’s arm. “Don’t be sad, Shannon. Now that you’re married to Randall, we’re family.”
Celia nodded and took Shannon’s other arm. “Indeed, Shannon, if anything, tell us. We’ll make sure whoever upsets you gets what they deserve.”
Meanwhile, Audrey transferred 6 billion dollars to Shannon. “Shannon, I’m sorry for what happened. Here’s some allowance. Go buy yourself some fancy stuff. Hope this will help you feel better.”
The corner of Shannon’s mouth twitched, as she found such compensation a bit too much.
Megan suggested, “Hey, since we’re all dressed, let’s go out. I’ve been meaning to go to the mall, and I never really had time. Let’s go shopping today. And we’ll hit the spa after that.”
Nicole nodded. “Sounds great. Let’s head off now. It’s been days since I went there. My face is getting less tender.
She stroked Shannon’s cheek and continued with envy, “Being young feels so great; your skin is just flawless. I even want to take a bite at your face. No wonder Randall was so eager to marry you.”
A bit helpless, Shannon reminded her, “Nicole, you’re just a few years older than me.”
Their constant teasing made Shannon blush, and she hurriedly dragged them into the mall so as to divert their attention.
They went on a shopping spree, almost emptying the entire mall
As Shannon walked past a counter, she was suddenly attracted by a tie, which was a dark blue one printed with dark lines, all mysterious and luxurious.
Pondering for a few seconds, she then walked into the store, pointing at the tie. “Miss, could you show it to me?”
The shop assistant nodded and took out the tie. Suddenly, someone reached out and grabbed it away.
Shannon turned around, and the sight of Dudley brought coldness to her face. “Give it to me.”
Holding the tie, Dudley checked it out and said with a disdained and shocked look, “You’re buying crap like this to please Mr.
Rowe?”
With a face of pity, he continued, “Oh, I forgot. Bumpkins like you don’t know people like us wear bespoke clothing. This tie isn’t even as expensive as Mr. Rowe’s socks.”

Shannon rolled her eyes. “Why do you care about the gifts I give him? Seems you’ve forgotten how miserable you were that day.”
He glanced at her with disgust. “Mom’s sick again all because of you. Why else do you think I’d come to you?”
“Aww, you’re so nice, she said sarcastically and then started to pick from other ties.
He looked at her coldly. “Come home with me and go apologize to Mom and Dad.”
Ignoring him, she continued to choose.
Furious, he gritted his teeth. “Did you hear me?”
She said flatly, “I never waste my time talking to nutjobs.
“Shannon!” Enraged, he reached out, trying to pull her.
To his surprise, she moved swiftly; after dodging aside quickly, she slapped him. Deliberately looking angry, she shouted, “Help! There’s a trafficker here!”
Dudley was stupefied. Before he knew it, he was pinned down by several security guards who rushed over. Totally pissed, he roared, “Let I go of me! I’m her brother, not some trafficker.”
Looking terrified, Shannon patted her chest. “Please. Don’t let go of him. I don’t even know him. What if he gets back at me after you leave?”
Séveral onlookers surrounded them, and someone could not help but suggest, “Why don’t you take him to the police? He looks kind of malicious”
Some were skeptical. “I doubt it. The clothes and jewelry he’s wearing are very expensive. How could a trafficker afford.
them?”
The one who gave the suggestion retorted, ‘Don’t judge by a book’s cover. What if he’s dressed like this deliberately just to give others think he’s not up to no good?”
Looking up, Dudley saw Shannon looking not far away, ready to enjoy the show, and he was utterly irritated.
Audrey and the others had gone to the dressing room. When they walked out, they saw a bunch of people surrounding Shannon and were instantly nervous. “Shannon, what’s going on?
Before Shannon could reply, one of the onlookers said. “See this man? He tried to flirt with her and even wanted to lure her away. Luckily, she was smart enough to see through his intentions.”
Dudley was pinned to the ground, looking embarrassed. Seeing him, Audrey realized that just like Camilla, he was here to pick on Shannon. Without hesitation, she nodded, acting as if she hadn’t known him. “Great. Scumbags like him should be punished by law.”
Since no one vouched for Dudley, he ended up being taken to the police.
Nicole couldn’t stop giggling at all. “Shannon, he’s your brother. Don’t you feel reluctant at all?”
Smiling, Shannon replied, her voice sweet and clear, “Not at all. I want him to rot in jail”
While saying that, she turned to Audrey and the others. “Ladies, I’m exactly the vindictive type. To get what I want, I’ll go all out and do anything. Does this disappoint you?”
