Chapter 31
The four Lanes were weak, especially in terms of fighting. Even the bodyguards they brought were no match for Randall and Shannon at all.
Soon, they collapsed to the ground, whereas Randall’s suit didn’t have any wrinkles. He turned to Shannon with a smile. “Nicely done. You aren’t hurt, are you?”
Raising her chin high, she answered proudly, “Of course not. They are no match for…”
Suddenly, she had an idea. She bit her lip and looked at him pitifully, saying, “Oh, my hands hurt, and my foot hurt, too. Did I sprain my ankle? Hubby, can you carry me inside?”
Audrey smiled, “Of course, he can. He’ll carry you back to your villa.”
Meanwhile, Randall glanced at Shannon with a half–smile and then ordered the housekeeper to throw the Lanes and their bodyguards out.
Audrey waved her hand, saying to Randall, “Go. Your business here is done. Can’t you see how uncomfortable Shannon is? Take her back to your villa.”
Shannon didn’t think he’d listen, but he actually stepped forward and picked her up, one hand holding her knees and the other holding her back.
Subconsciously, she wrapped her arms around his neck. Meeting the eyes of Audrey and her sisters–in–law, she felt a bit shy and buried her head in his neck.
After entering the door, Randall looked at Shannon in his arms and snorted, “How much longer are you going to stay in my arms?”
She raised her head, met his eyes, and cheekily said, “I’m hurt. Hubby, can you take me back to my room?”
“Nope,” he refused her without hesitation.
A bit frustrated, she puffed out her cheeks, glanced at him, and said, deliberately dragging the word, “Why?”
He teased with a meaningful smile, “I’m afraid you can’t control yourself and won’t let me out once I enter your room.”
As he spoke, his Adam’s Apple bobbed; she pressed on it, blinked, and deliberately blew into his face. She asked, “Can you control yourself then?”
Arching an eyebrow, he put her on the sofa, propped his hands at her sides, and leaned slowly towards her, smiling, his voice deep, magnetic. “You tell me. You think you can trick me into bed easily? I’m not a low–hanging fruit.”
She was left speechless, thinking, ‘What a hard nut to crack. All I want is a daughter, not his life. How come it’s so hard for him to say yes?‘
It was the weekend. Shannon had no classes, so she didn’t bother to dress up or put on makeup. She tied up her hair casually while wearing a loose white T–shirt. Other than her pretty face, she looked just like a slovenly house woman.
When Audrey showed up at Randall’s villa, she was enjoying herself, playing games on her phone on the sofa.
Audrey glanced at her in disgust. “Look at you. If others see you like this, they might think we aren’t treating you well. enough. What a waste of your pretty face. Come on, come with me. Don’t be glued to your phone.”
All Shannon’s attention was on her phone. While playing games, she asked absentmindedly, “What’s up, Audrey? What’s

“Nothing big. I just thought we could hang out together.” Audrey watched Shannon press buttons to move the figure on the screen around. After several flashes of different skills, the figure competing with Shannon’s figure fell down. Intrigued, Audrey asked, “What’s this?”
Just then, a mechanical female voice announced Shannon’s victory. She looked up and saw Audrey’s expression. After a brief pause, she said, “It’s a MOBA game. Audrey, do you want to join the? Let’s team up.”
Though Audrey was interested, she said, “Forget it. I’m too old for this. I don’t know how to play anyway.”
Shannon said enthusiastically, “Age is irrelevant. Don’t worry, Audrey. I’ll teach you.” She then set up an account for Audrey and guided Audrey through the tasks for beginners.
Since it was a new account, there were no champions. At first, Shannon wanted to buy five champions so that Audrey could have a ranked game. Yet after Audrey clicked on the mythic shop, she bought all the champions as well as their skins.
Shannon fell silent; though she had played for so long, she hadn’t collected all the champions yet.
After buying, Audrey was overjoyed and advertently glanced at Shannon’s account. With a bit of disdam, she then bought all the champions and the skins for Shannon.
Shannon’s eyes lit up right away as she looked at the rare skins she had been longing to have. “Rest assured, Audrey. I got your back. Let’s play.”
Rookies weren’t skilled, and Shannon helped Audrey pick a champion easy to operate. All Audrey had to do was follow her. They won again and again, and Audrey became dizzy with success.
She lounged on the sofa with Shannon, immersing herself in the games, completely forgetting what she came here for. Megan and Celia had waited for them for a long time and finally came over, only to see the two enjoying games.
Feeling a bit helpless, Megan said, “Audrey, didn’t we agree to go shopping? Have you realized how long it has been? We were ready and have been waiting for you for over two hours.”
Shannon was a bit guilty and looked at Megan and Celia awkwardly. On the contrary, Audrey said with great interest, “Shopping? No way. Games are way more fun.”
Megan was at a loss for words.
Audrey was totally addicted to the games and didn’t want to go out at all. She reluctantly put down her phone after Shannon promised to team up with her, Celia, Nicole, and Megan after they came back.
Although Audrey was the four’s mother–in–law, because she was well–maintained, she was like their sister when standing together with them. The second they entered the mall, they attracted a lot of attention.
Since they bought a lot of clothes and bags last time, they didn’t buy much today; instead, they casually browsed and bought new arrivals that were to their liking.
As Audrey looked at Shannon’s bare neck, she frowned slightly. Realizing that they didn’t buy any jewelry last time, she took the four into a jewelry store.
Shannon didn’t like jewelry and wasn’t very interested, but the other four were very interested in dressing her.
