Chapter 35
The squeeze hurt so much that Miriam cried at once. Her tears broke Camilla’s heart. She wanted to deal with Shannon but was no match for her at all, and Shannon’s indifferent attitude further provoked her.
In a fit of pique, she grabbed a vase on the counter and threw it at Shannon. She snapped, “Shannon, you join hands with the Rowes to go against us. Lincoln won’t let
you off.”
Shannon’s eyes were sharp as she ducked. She then walked up to Miriam, grabbed her hair, and smashed her head against the counter–the loud, dull sound was heard by everyone.
Screaming, Camilla pounced at her. “What the hell, Shannon?”
Shannon said, “Mrs. Lane, you’re my biological mother, so I won’t get physical with you. But I won’t show Miriam any mercy. And let me be crystal clear–if you dare pull something like this again, I’ll make sure your precious kids pay the price.”
Shannon’s eyes were icy, making Camilla tremble with fear. With the fierce, hawk–like stares of Audrey and her other daughters–in–law, she didn’t dare to make another move and left quickly with Miriam.
Seeing them gone, Audrey grabbed Shannon’s hand at once to see if she was OK; after all, the vase broke right beside her.
Audrey, Celia, Nicole, and Megan were all worried. They breathed a relief after making sure Shannon wasn’t hurt.
Megan patted her chest and said with lingering fear, “My, Camilla is nuts. You’re her biological daughter! Who does that?”
Celia’s face was a bit pale. “She’s lost it, like someone’s cast a hex on her or something.”
Meanwhile, Audrey held Shannon’s wrist and looked at her worriedly. “Shannon, don’t you worry. They aren’t your family; we are. I’ll double down to make sure you’re treated right.”
Shannon smiled, feeling warm. “It’s okay, really. If anything, I’m finally seeing things clearly; if they loved me, they wouldn’t have left me in that village. I’m a fool, thinking they’d treat me better after I went back.
“Let’s drop it, though, okay? Don’t let them ruin our day. Say, how about we grab some hot chocolate to wind down?”
Nicole rolled her eyes. “Nah. You know that’s basically sugar in a cup, right? Drink one, week to burn it off.

“I know you’ve got good genes, but even you can’t dodge the aging bullet forever. Watch yourself, or you’ll be crying when those wrinkles come in.”
Audrey glanced at Nicole and retorted, “It’s just hot chocolate. Big deal. She can always go to the gym to work out. Shannon, relax. Gaining weight is perfectly OK. If Randall dares to say a word, I’ll deal with him.”
Shannon burst out laughing, feeling touched. Hugging Audrey’s arm, she said, “Thanks, Audrey. But Nicole’s right. I shouldn’t slack off, especially since we’re trying for a baby.”
Audrey was overjoyed. “Already?”

Shannon wasn’t exactly serious about it, and she was surprised at Audrey’s big reaction. Blushing, she braced herself and nodded.
Grinning, Audrey said, “I’m so glad. Alright then. We’re all experienced people here, and we can be of help.”
Shannon thought Audrey was referring to food and stuff, but they dragged her to a lingerie store. And, this wasn’t just any lingerie–they were pulling out the skimpiest, most risqué outfits she’d ever seen.

Chapter 35
She blushed utterly as she stared at the racks of lace and leather. Audrey, this… I won’t be needing this, will I?”
Megan grinned. She grabbed Shannon by the arm and pulled her forward. “Are you kidding me, Shannon? This is essential.”
Celia nodded. “Trust me, if you want Randall wrapped around your finger, this is the way to go. You have to keep things spicy.”
Meanwhile, Nicole looked at Shannon teasingly. When Shannon noticed that she had put a set of lingerie with a cat ears headband in the shopping cart, she felt the heat rush to her face so quickly she thought she might faint.
Thinking that there were other shoppers around, Shannon didn’t even have the courage to raise her head. Unfortunately, she couldn’t stop the four at all; they were so enthusiastic.
Going home with several bags, Shannon felt her whole person burning with shyness. She hastily said hi to Yolanda and then quickly went upstairs with the bags. Feeling weird, Yolanda glanced at her, wondering why she was blushing so much.
Shannon closed her room door as quickly as she could, put the bags next to her bed, and went to the bathroom to wash her face.
Looking at herself in the mirror with a crimson face, she bit her lip and turned around instinctively to look at those bags beside the bed, thinking, “Trying them on… won’t hurt, right?‘
Taking a quick look at the stuff in those bags, she picked the set with the cat ears headband chosen by Nicole Holding it up in front of her, she grudgingly admitted it wasn’t half bad.
For some reason even she didn’t know of, she took a shower and changed into the lingerie, including the white ears and the bushy tail.

Randall came back from work and looked around the living room. Usually, it was after dinner at this hour, and Shannon would sit on the sofa waiting for him. Yet today, she wasn’t there. He frowned. “Where’s Shannon? Is she still with my mom?
Yolanda stepped forward to take his coat. “She came back already and has gone upstairs, but there seemed to be something off. I wonder if she’s feeling unwell.”
He became tense at once. “I’ll check on her.”
When he reached her door, he hesitated for a second before knocking–only to find the door ajar. Pushing it open, stepped inside, yet there was no one inside.

There were bags all over the floor with something falling out. His brows furrowed as he bent down to pick up what looked like…a little round thing with tassels.
In the next second, the bathroom door behind him was open. Straightening up, he looked over. “Yolanda said you…” When he saw Shannon, he suddenly couldn’t utter a sound.
Shannon was startled to see him in her room and wanted to retreat to the bathroom. But then she thought of something, so she gritted her teeth and walked towards him.
The tiny scraps of fabric couldn’t hide anything. As she moyed, it was more teasing than modest, making her even more enchanting. She mimicked a cat’s paw, and looked at him wide–eyed. With a meow, she said, “Hubby, how do I look?”
