Chapter 37
Shannon was stunned and then looked over at Randall across the table with a fork in his hand. They were eating at home,
yet
his manners and every gesture were perfect.
Cupping her face, she smiled brightly, “Hubby, thank you.”
Nodding, Randall showed an imperceptible smile. “Eat.”
They ate very quietly, but the atmosphere was exceptionally warm, and no one else could be part of it.
After the last bite, Shannon slumped in the chair, stroking her stomach while burping. “I’m stuffed.”
Since he had been eating with her, Randall’s appetite had noticeably improved, and he ate too much before he realized it,
too.
Noticing this, Yolanda immediately had someone bring them coffee.
While enjoying the coffee lazily, Shannon suddenly remembered something and said, “Oh, this weekend is Celeste’s grandpa’s birthday. You know she’s my bestie. If the party goes on too late that day, I may not come back.”
“How late?” Randall asked, “I’ll have someone pick you up.”
Glancing at him, she said, “Too late, as I’ve already said.”
Snorting, he looked at her deadpan. Then he said, “Shannon, don’t forget that you’re married.”
Blinking, she suddenly leaned over. “Are you jealous?”
He placed his hand on her forehead and pushed her away. “Jealous? Of what?”
“If you’re not jealous, why the warning, then?”
“I was just reminding you of your place.”
“Chill. I know. But…” she deliberately paused and looked at him provocatively, “Mr. Rowe, when are you going to let me fulfill
my duties as your wife?”
Glancing at her, he said, “For example?”
“I want to sleep with you.”
Her words were nothing but blunt, making Randall feel speechless for a second. Then he pinched her face. “Be good. Stop trying to seduce me.”
She huffed, finding his cool demeanor utterly boring. Feeling both stuffed and too annoyed to keep bickering, she stood up. “Forget it then. I’m going out for a walk.”
Randall watched her retreating figure, his eyes flashing with faint amusement.

After that day, Shannon hadn’t seen Randall for days.
It was the weekend. Since it was the birthday of Celeste’s grandpa, Melvin Porter, Shannon went to Rainbow Trade, intending to pick a 300–year–old ginseng for him.
The shop had been set up for her three years ago by Zachary, selling high–grade supplements such as ginseng so that she

could earn some pocket money.
The supplements might be treasured by others, but she had plenty of them, and they barely meant anything to her.

She parked her car at the door, and as soon as she entered, she saw two acquaintances–Beatrice and her mom, Myra Gross.
Beatrice’s expression changed the second she saw Shannon, and her eyes were burning with anger. She then strode over. “Shannon, how dare you show up in front of me again?”
Glancing at her, Shannon replied flatly, “Why wouldn’t I? Are you saying that I have to move to Mars just because I beat you and Curtis that day?”
Beatrice bristled, her jaw tightening as she glared at Shannon. “You only won because you had more people and pulled a dirty trick to ambush us! I haven’t even come after you for that yet, and you’ve got the nerve to bring it up now?”
Every time she saw Shannon, the memory of being pinned down and humiliated by her flashed in her mind, stoking her fury.
She thought, ‘Where the hell did she learn to fight like that? And that strength–she’s a freaking monster! I’ve never suffered such a humiliating loss in my entire life. Just looking at her face makes me want to rip it to shreds.
Shannon smiled calmly. “I had more people? Seriously? Aren’t you ashamed of yourself at all? Oh, I get it. Perhaps I’m so badass in your eyes that think I can take on ten men on my own, right?”

“You…” Beatrice didn’t know how to retort her at all.
Myra glanced at Shannon, sized her up imperceptibly, and then frowned slightly, “Come here, Beatrice. No need to waste your time on fools. Some people can’t live without attention. You’re falling into her trap by talking to her.”
Beatrice didn’t want to give up, but she had no choice; she snorted hard and went over to Myra.
Shannon couldn’t be bothered. She gave Myra a quick, indifferent glance before turning to the shop assistant. “I want a 300- year–old ginseng. It’s a gift–make sure the packaging looks nice
The shop assistant was stunned for a second and then quickly went to get the ginseng.
Beatrice sneered, “You bumpkin, do you even know what ginseng is and how much it costs?”
Glancing at her, Shannon spoke, “What do you care? What matters is I have enough money to pay.”
Beatrice was pissed off, snorting, “What’s there to be so smug about? It’s not even your money–it’s Randall’s!”
While saying, she thought, ‘What’s wrong with the Rowes? Randall married her, an uneducated bumpkin, and his family actually wasn’t embarrassed? There are countless socialites in Larston. How come Shannon gets to be so lucky? Damn it.’
Smiling, Shannon said, “Why? Are you jealous? Well, feel free to be. Randall is crazy about me and offers to spend money on

While saying, Shannon thought, ‘I know, of course, that Beatrice is jealous. After all, I’ve met countless people like her ever since I came back. Well, I always love helping others. Since Beatrice asks for humiliation, I might as well do her a favor.
D Beatrice’s face turned red with fury. “Don’t get cocky yet. One day, the Rowes will kick you out. I can’t wait to see you bawling then.”
Shannon just smiled, the kind of bright, dazzling smile that made Beatrice’s blood boil. “Sorry to disappoint, but that day will never come.”
