Chapter 6
Shannon glared at Craig “Apologize my ass Not bothering to waste her breath, she went to her mom, parked up some necessities, and asked some bank staff to pick up Randall’s gifts. Then, she strade off with her bag on her back.
After getting out, she checked the balance on her bank and. There were only a few tens of billions of dollars left, but it was ruough.
She bought a Bentley Continental and an apartment of a thousand square feet. The car was ready to go, fut unfortunately, she had to wait for two months before moving in.
Yet she figured it wasn’t a big deal. Now that she had accepted Randall’s gifts, she’d go to the City Hall with him to get their marriage certificates tomorrow, and she could live with him before she moved into her apartment.
At night, Shannon went to a food market and bought some skewers and a can of coke. Sitting on a bench by the road, she enjoyed her dinner while watching passers–by come and go.
In early autumn, the night was a bit freezing. The dead and yellow leaves fell in whirls as the wind blew. The dim streetlight made her figure particularly delicate and lonely.
Shannon gobbled and drank. Suddenly, she choked, and tears flew down her cheeks, maybe it was the spicy food or the carbonated drink.
A black Rolls–Royce appeared out of nowhere and stopped in front of her. In the next second, a handsome man in a suit and the stepped out
The sight of Randall surprised Shannon a bit; she wiped her face casually and showed a teasing, unscrupulous smile. “What a coincidence.”
Randall walked over to her with one hand in his pocket, looking aloof as he asked, “Why are you eating here alone? Look how red your eyes are. Have you been crying?”
“Are you kidding? In case you haven’t noticed, it’s very windy,” she said nonchalantly.
He glanced at the backpack next to her. “They kicked you out?”
She took another sip of coke and grinned. “It’s true that I bug them, but they don’t have what it takes to kick me out. The sight of them annoyed me, so I cut ties with them.”
Raising his eyebrows, Randall asked, “Impressive. Where are you going to stay tonight?”
She smiled, her eyes sparkling like stars in the sky, “Your place, of course. We’re going to get married. Aren’t you going to let
me in?
Randall nodded and said calmly, “Since you’re about to be my wife, of course, I will. I just thought you’d pull a stunt before agreeing to marry me.”
He knew how unique Shannon was. Other women either feigned coy or acted seductively when seeing him. Unlike them, Shannon was always straightforward; she could be mean, fierce, soft, or sly, and she’d never marry him because of material things.
Hearing his words, Shannon smiled, “I wouldn’t do that. In fact, we thought it through. Since I’ve got to get married sooner or later, why not choose a man with power, fame, money, and good looks? No man in Lorston is as good as you
“Besides, marrying you will piss off the Lanes so much. Why wouldn’t I marry you? Actually, I’m curious. Countless rich ladies dream of marrying you. Why me?” She knew his claim of lifetime loyalty and devotion was just crap.
Randall cracked a smile, truthfully saying, “Because you’re the tough type. By marrying you, I get to get my parents off my

back and stay away from annoying pursuers. How’s this reason working out for you?”
She nodded. “Sounds perfect.””
Truth be told, she was satisfied with his honesty: feelings aside, least they’d build a peaceful life together on the foundation of honesty.

He continued, “You can think of this as a contract marriage. You get to have money, respect, and the fabulous title of Mrs. Rowe, but not my love. You’re smart, and I’m sure you know what I mean.”
She took a bite of the skewer and nodded again. “Sure. We’ll pretend to be an affectionate couple when in public and stay out of each other’s way in private.”
It was exactly what she wanted. Though they had slept together and were about to get married, they were practically strangers.
Smiling. Randall was pleased, too. Dealing with smart people was always enjoyable. “Alright then. Let’s go home, he offered
“OK.” she readily agreed.
