Back in her room, Ash grabbed a pillow from her bed, imagining it was Calvert’s face as she pummeled it viciously. Unsatisfied, she even kicked it a few times. Never in her life had she felt so frustrated and wronged.
“Damn Calvert!” she growled, venting her emotions.
Just then, her phone rang, it was Bailey.
Je- Oops, Ash, are you okay?” Bailey asked, concern evident in her voice. “What happened? How did you suddenly disappear?”
“Just ran into a bit of trouble,” Ash replied, her eyes narrowing as she thought about the welcome party. Something fishy had clearly happened there.
“Were you hurt?” Bailey pressed.
Ash scoffed. “Please, with my skills? Who could hurt me?”
“True. Bailey chuckled, relieved. “Oh, by the way, Samantha’s dress needs repairs. Apparently, it got a huge tear.”
“We’re not taking that job, Ash said firmly.
Bailey giggled. “That’s what I told her. I said our store doesn’t offer repair services for dresses under 2 million dollars.” Ash’s lips curved into a smile. “Look at you, getting all clever.”
“Well, I learned from the best,” Bailey replied. But I’m still no match for you.”
As they chatted away, Ash’s bad mood over Calvert lifted. However, things were far from peaceful in the Moreno family
“What kind of lousy store doesn’t offer repair services for a 590,000 dollar dress!” Samantha fumed, staring at her ruined. gown
She stomped her foot in anger and continued, “It’s all Jewel’s fault! Mom, what am I going to do? If Tristan finds out I damaged the dress, he’ll be so upset with me.”
At the mention of Tristan, Samantha’s eyes welled up with tears.
Lorelei’s heart ached for her daughter. She quickly embraced Samantha, comforting her. “If Tristan was willing to spend that much on you, he wouldn’t be mad. It’s okay, don’t cry
“Mom,” Samantha sniffled, “do you think Jewel is with the old man from the Turner family now? How else could she afford such a beautiful dress today? I saw it in the store. It’s a limited edition. It must cost at least eight figures.”
Lorelei humpherl derisively. “I never thought Jewel would stoop so low. She probably started fooling around behind Tristan’s back long ago. It’s a good thing she’s out of our lives now, or she would have brought shame to our entire family.” “Enough” Dexter, who had been silent until now, suddenly roared. “Haven’t we embarrassed ourselves enough already?” Samantha flinched, cowering in Lorelei’s arms. Lorelei patted her back soothingly before turning to yell at Dexter. “What are you shouting for?”
“Everyone at that event was either wealthy or influential, Dexter fumed. “We were turned away at the door just because we offended Jewel. Do you understand what that means?”
He slammed his hand on the table as he stood up. Instead of gossiping, you’d better apologize to jewel Otherwise, you two night for yourselves nut on the street! With that, he stormed to his room

Samantha bit her lip, tears streaming down her face. “Mom. is Dad really angry? Should I go apologize to Jewel tomorrow?”
“Apologize for what?” Lorelei scoffed. “She’s just cozying up to some old geezer. In a few days, she’ll be nothing again.” She turned to Samantha, her voice softening. “Sweetie, your main focus now should be keeping Tristan. Understand?”
Samantha nodded. “I understand, Mom.”
The next morning. Ash headed downstairs and grected Brooke in the living room with a smile. “Good morning. Mom.”
“Good morning, sweetheart, Brooke replied, setting aside her magazine. She patted the seat beside her and handed Ash her phone. Take a look. See any wedding dress styles you like?”
Ash’s brow furrowed. “Mom, I have no plans to get married, she said.
Brooke seemed to have anticipated this response. She patted Ash’s hand. “I know you and Calvert aren’t into each other right now, but feelings can develop. If you spend more time together you’ll see how wonderful he is. He’s the only one worthy of you”
Ash inwardly rolled her eyes, wondering which part of that arrogant, selfish jerk was supposed to be wonderful. She couldn’t bear to look at him for one more second.
“I’ve already made an appointment for you. Brooke continued, gently guiding Ash towards the door. “You’ll go try on wedding dresses her. It’s better to see them in person than just looking at pictures.”
Realizing this had been planned well in advance, with the driver and butler already waiting. Ash resigned herself to go along
with it.
Ash had assumed Calvert wouldn’t show up, but as she entered the shop, she spotted him sitting on a sofa. His eyes, filled with mockery and disdain, locked onto her.
Furious. Ash marched up to him. “What are you doing here?”
Calvert sneered. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that? Yesterday you talked big about breaking off the engagement, and today your mother sets up this little wedding dress appointment. Ash. I had no idea you were such a talented actress.”
He stood up and continued, “Well, I don’t have time to waste on this charade. If you want to try on dresses. I’ll have Dean accompany you. With that, he left the shop without a backward glance.
Ash glared daggers at his retreating back, her hands clenching into fists. If looks could kill, she’d tear him to shreds.
She ran a frustrated hand through her hair, wondering why her usual quick wit deserted her whenever she faced this infuriating man.
As she turned to leave, a familiar but unwelcome voice reached her ears.
Tristan, the dresses here are so beautiful! Let’s take a look, Samantha said, dragging Tristan into the store.
Upon spotting Ash, Samantha’s brow furrowed briefly before she forced a smile. “Jewel, what are you doing here!”
Noticing Dean Castillo beside Ash, Samantha’s eyes gleamed with malice. She couldn’t resist a dig. “Here to try on dresses with your companion!”
Tristan had been sizing Dean up his gaze growing complex as he looked at Ash.
In no mood for Samantha’s antics. Ash called over a shop assistant. I heard the dresses here are quite expensive, right?”
maam,” the assistant confirmed.

figures. The cheapest dress here costs that much.”
Ash never put price tags on things and despised people who constantly bragged about money. But with Samantha, she had no choice but to get down to her level
Hearing this, the shop assistant politely gestured towards the door. “I’m sorry, Sir, Miss. We’re closing the store for a private appointment. Please make your way to the exit.”
Humiliated at being publicly dismissed, Samantha gritted her teeth and pointed at Ash. “Jewel, who do you think you’re fooling? Just because you’ve snagged some old geezer, you really think you’re something?
Ash smirked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Why don’t you try finding one yourself? Oh wait, you probably don’t have
what it takes”
