Chapter 4: A Gift of Death
Chapter 4: A Gift of Death
(Olivia’s POV)
Gloria smiled hypocritically and helped, .“You’re sisters, what’s yours is hers, consider it your mating gift to her.”
I smiled as sweetly as she did, “Then I can give her another gift, Gloria. ”
Doubt showed in Gloria’s eyes, she certainly understood that I wasn’t being so kind, “What is it?”
“A casket and a graveyard.” I said seriously, “In fact, in the ancient werewolf tradition, they all chose their own double graveyard during the mating ritual, representing the pair’s fidelity to their love.”
Of course there’s no such tradition. I’m talking nonsense. I’m snickering inside.
The room suddenly fell silent, and Bella’s heart monitor began to emit a sharp, piercing sound.
Bella turned even paler. Graham’s jaw dropped. My father Ambrose turned from the window with growing
rage.
“You…” Gloria’s voice shook with fury. “How dare you speak such vile words to your dying sister!”
I smiled and said, “We’re sisters, and as the older sister, of course I’m going to provide what she’s bound to need for her sister, isn’t that what you said?”
Bella began sobbing dramatically. “Graham, she wants me dead!”
Gloria’s face contorted with rage. “Get out!” she screamed, pointing at the door. “Get out right now!”
She turned to Ambrose, voice rising to a shriek. “Look at what you’ve raised! A vicious daughter who invokes
death upon her own blood!”
My father’s face darkened. Alpha energy filled the room, making the air heavy.
“Olivia,” he growled, his Alpha voice vibrating the windows. “You’ve gone too far.”
He suddenly lunged at me, raising his slap, and I switched to wolf claws ready to fight him to the end, when
Graham suddenly stopped in front of me and took the blow that should have been given to me. The sound of
the slap echoed like a gunshot.
Bella screamed shrilly. “Dad! Don’t hurt Graham!”
Graham stood there, cheek reddening. He placed a restraining hand on my father’s chest.
“Ambrose, please,” he said, voice strained. “Let’s calm down. It’s my fault, I didn’t comfort Olivia better and made her angry.”
My father’s chest heaved violently with anger and shame, for it was his future son–in–law, the mighty Stormpack’s future Alpha, that he was hitting, not me.
He gasped and tried to put on a kind face? do it again… Or else…”

I yanked away from his touch. “I have nothing to say to you.”

“Please,” he insisted, grabbing my wrist. “We’re still family. We need to discuss the mate bond dissolution properly.”
Family? After everything they’d done?
“Family?” I laughed bitterly. “None of you are worthy of being called my family. Let go of my wrist.”
“Olivia, please-”
“I said, let go.”
Graham’s grip tightened. “Not until you agree to talk reasonably.”
Years of suppressed rage surged through me like wildfire.
Without thinking, I slapped him hard.
The sound echoed through the hospital hallway. Graham’s head jerked from the force.
Everyone froze. Bella’s mouth hung open. Gloria gasped. My father’s eyes bulged.
“How dare you!” Bella cried, tears streaming. “If you want to hit someone, hit me! I’m the one who took
Graham!”
I looked at her with icy contempt. “I don’t need a reason to hit a traitor.”
I faced them all, voice deadly calm. “The Moon Goddess will judge you soon enough, Bella. Enjoy your
borrowed time.”
I turned my back on their outrage and strode away. Their angry shouts faded as I walked down the corridor.
In my car, I gripped the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white. My body trembled with rage and grief.
I can’t stop thinking about my life after my mom died.Father’s indifference, stepmother’s abuse, Bella’s
calculations…
And Graham–the man I’d always loved, who I thought could heal my pain, Instead, he dealt me the most devastating blow.
All those sacrifices I’d made to help him heal. All for nothing.
My cell phone rings and it’s Lily Bennett–my best friend.
We had planned lunch today to discuss my mating ceremony rehearsal. The irony was unbearable.
“Lily.”
“Livvy! Where are you? I’ve been waiting at the restaurant for half an hour!”
I had completely forgotten. “I’m sorry. I’ll be there soon.”
Twenty minutes later, I walked into Imperial Moon Restaurant. Lily waved from our corner table, her smile
fading as she saw my expression.
“What happened?” she demanded as I sat de “–

Chapter 4 A Gift of Death
“Bella is going to be Graham’s mate,” I said flatly. “Not me.”
“WHAT?!” Lily’s shout drew stares from nearby diners. “You can’t be serious!”

I recounted the past two days in a detached tone. Bella’s illness. Graham’s betrayal. The stolen gown and jewelry. The hospital confrontation.
With each revelation, Lily grew more horrified. By the time I finished, she was vibrating with rage.
“That manipulative little b***h!” she hissed, slamming her fist on the table. “And Graham! How could he do this after everything you’ve done?”
Before I could stop her, Lily pulled out her phone and dialed Graham.
“You spineless, gutless traitor!” she shouted into the phone. “Has Bella bewitched you? Have you forgotten how Olivia saved your worthless life during the territorial war?”
I winced as Lily’s voice grew louder.
“She gave you her blood! She risked her life! And this is how you repay her? Cheating with her sister?”
Graham tried to speak, but Lily wasn’t finished.
“How long has this been going on? Were you sleeping with Bella behind Olivia’s back? Is that why you always
defended her?”
A waiter approached, politely asking Lily to lower her voice. I gently took the phone and ended the call.
“That’s enough.” I said quietly.
Lily was still fuming. “I’m not done with him! Or Bella! That snake has been plotting for years!”
“Lily, please,” I gestured to other diners. “Let it go.”
She took a deep breath, trying to calm down. “Does he even love her? Or is this just about her illness?”
I shrugged. “I don’t know what he feels anymore. But I know he never truly loved me.”
“How can he not see through her?” Lily asked, bewildered. “Bella has been manipulating everyone since
childhood!”
“I tried to tell him many times,” I said bitterly. “He always dismissed my concerns as jealousy and prejudice.”
ly shook her head in disgust. “Does he even know Bella and Thomas are your half–siblings?”
er told him,” I admitted. “So he may or may not know.”
nile crossed Lily’s face. “He’ll regret this, Livvy. Once Bella has what she wants, she’ll show her true
en he’ll realize what he threw away.”
anned silent, sipping my drink. Graham’s future regrets no longer mattered.
After lunch, Lily squeezed my arm./”At least you got your company shares. Focus on that. Don’t waste time grieving over that idiot.”
She was right. I needed to focus on the legal procedures for the share transfer and mate bond dissolution.
“I’ll call Graham and arrange to meet this afternoon,” I decided. “The sooner we complete the paperwork, the
better.”
Three hours later, Graham arrived at my office. The red mark from my slap was still visible.

“Let’s make this quick,” I said briskly. “We need to finalize the share transfer and begin the mate bond
dissolution process.”
Graham looked at me with those sad eyes that once melted my heart. He opened his mouth to speak, then
closed it.
We completed the legal transfer in tense silence. Afterward, we drove separately to the Northern Territory Registration Office.
The clerk explained that dissolving a mate bond required an appointment, extensive documentation, and a
mandatory 30–day waiting period.
“Thirty days?” I asked, frustrated. “Is there no way to speed this up? We didn’t even complete the mating
ritual.”
The clerk shook her head apologetically. “I’m sorry, Ms. Oasis. The waiting period is mandatory for all mate
bond dissolutions.”
I clenched my jaw. This meant I’d still be legally tied to Graham while he prepared to mark Bella.
Graham placed a hand on my shoulder. “It’s okay, Olivia. There’s no rush. Bella isn’t pressuring me about this.”
I stared at him coldly “Doesn’t she worry about not living long enough to see the official paperwork?
Graham’s face paled. He had no response.
I suddenly realized the leverage I held. I could delay this dissolution indefinitely if I wanted.
“Maybe we shouldn’t dissolve it at all,” Graham suggested quietly. “After Bella… passes… we could-”
I stared at him, unable to comprehend what he was thinking, why, even now, he was still confident that I would stay with him when Bella died?
