Chapter 7: The Wedding That Should Have Been Mine
Chapter 7: The Wedding That Should Have Been Mine
(Olivia’s POV)
I covered my stinging eyes with the handkerchief, the soft fabric smelled like forest and wild grass.
I was so immersed in the flavor that I didn’t want to pay attention to the world around me at all.
That’s when I heard Ambrose’s voice – his voice sounded polite in a flattering way, “Alpha Shadowcrest! I can’t believe you’re here, it’s such an honor! Please take your seat in the Alpha section over there, we’ve arranged special VIP seating…”
“I’m comfortable here, thank you“, that nice male voice rang out, so he’s the Alpha of Shadowcrestpack? I thought secretly in my heart.
Ambrose persisted. “But surely-”
“Ambrose!” Gloria hissed, tugging his sleeve. “The ceremony is continuing.”
I wiped away my tears and just as I looked up, I heard the host’s voice, “Will the officiant, Olivia Oasis, please
come to the stage.”
A harsh spotlight found me. The hall fell silent as all eyes turned my way.
I could read their expressions clearly. Some pitied me, others enjoyed my humiliation. A few looked genuinely
uncomfortable.
I folded my handkerchief and put it in my pocket. Then I straightened my spine, lifted my chin, and stood up.
As I walked toward the stage, whispers resumed.
“Can you believe Alpha Oasis is making his daughter witness this?”
“The poor girl designed that gown herself…”
“Six years together, and he throws her away for her sister…”
I listened to the banter as I walked up the steps and no longer felt embarrassed, after all, the real disgrace
was standing on stage.
Two rogues and bitches on stage. Graham and Bella were beaming with happiness. My father and Gloria
watched them with glee.
The host shoved the microphone in front of me, “Here’s Olivia to say a few words for the pair.”
He extended the microphone with a sympathetic glance. I took it, my fingers ice–cold against the metal.
I looked directly at Graham and Bella. She leaned against him, her face a perfect mask of fragile happiness.
He had his arm around her waist, protective and possessive.
Something dark and vengeful surged through me. I smiled.
“Esteemed pack members,” I began, my voice clear and steady. “Today we celebrate the union of Graham
Storm and Bella Oasis.”
“As her sister and witness to this joyous occasion, I wish them eternal devotion, a long life together bonded

as one, and a den full of pups.”
I paused, letting my words sink in. Bella’s terminal illness meant she’d likely be dead within a year. A long life together was impossible. Her condition made bearing pups extremely dangerous.
“On behalf of the happy couple, I thank you all for witnessing this… union. May the packs prosper under the moon’s light.”
I led the way and started clapping.
The audience responded with scattered, uncertain applause. Someone called out, “Congratulations, Alpha
Oasis! What a wonderful family!”
The sarcasm was unmistakable. Nervous laughs followed.
Gloria grabbed my arm as I turned to leave. “You’re embarrassing the Oasis Pack,” she hissed, claws digging
into my skin.
“The only ones bringing shame are those who steal another she–wolf’s true mate,” I replied loudly.
I pulled free and headed for the steps. Bella’s voice stopped me.
“Sister, wait!”
Her hand caught my wrist with surprising strength. She pulled me back to center stage.
“Everyone,” Bella began, tears welling in her eyes. “Please don’t misunderstand.”
She looked around the hall, her expression sad and noble, and began her masterful performance.
“As you know, I suffer from a rare heart condition, and my hematopoiesis has failed me so badly that the doctors say my days are numbered.”
She paused for sympathetic murmurs to ripple through the crowd.
“My final wish was to be marked by my beloved Graham before I leave this world.” She squeezed his hand. He
gazed at her adoringly.
I suddenly realized – she was playing her best victim card, trying to manipulate people’s sympathy.
“My sister, in her infinite kindness, agreed to step aside so I might experience this happiness before I die.”
I fought the urge to roll my eyes. In the crowd, I spottedAlpha Shadowcrest again. Unlike others who were moved or uncomfortable, his expression remained unreadable. He seemed to study the performance rather
than be affected by it.
Bella turned to me, her voice dripping false sweetness. “Sister, do you hate me for taking Graham from you?”
The host handed me another microphone. The entire hall held its breath.
I looked at Bella’s expectant face, Graham’s uncomfortable expression, my father’s warning glare, and Gloria’s triumphant smirk. Years of enduring their manipulation crystallized in that moment.
Fine. I would play their game.
“Bella,” I said clearly, “I should thank you for taking not my true mate, but my biggest problem.”
Shocked gasps rippled through the audience.
“Graham Storm has proven himself to be le

MATE, much less mine.” I looked straight at him and smiled, watching his face turn somber.” Dear Bello, you did me a huge favor by exposing his true colors before I tied myself to him. My sister is truly so grateful to
you.”
The hall erupted in gasps, nervous laughter, then surprisingly, cheers and applause from some quarters. Not everyone was fond of the Storms.
I turned back to Bella and Graham. “I wish you both eternal togetherness, bound In this life and the next.”
My father’s face contorted with rage. He stormed forward and slapped me hard across the face.
“You ungrateful b***h!” he roared, his Alpha voice making windows rattle. “You’re just like your mother–a curse on my life and pack!”
When I heard him mention my mother, the anger inside me instantly erupted.
“Shut up! You shameless bastard! It was because of your disloyalty that my mother suffered and died young! You don’t deserve to mention her!” I retorted, the taste of blood spreading through my mouth.
Graham stepped between us. “Olivia, what good does this outburst do? You’re only making things worse.”
I looked at this wolf I’d once loved and felt nothing but contempt.
“You should take off that suit,” I sneered. “I designed it for a loyal mate, not a treacherous rogue. Even my dog
Ranger would look better in it.”
“By the way, there’s one thing I purposely waited until today to say” I smiled sweetly, “Graham Storm, I, Olivia
Oasis, reject you as my mate.”
Graham turned pale and backed away, covering his chest. Furious, Ambrose seized the opportunity and lunged at me again. His hand hit me hard in the face again and I stumbled.
My years of suppressed anger exploded. I switched out of my wolf claws, dodged his next blow, and countered back with a heavy claw strike to his jaw.
“You will not touch me again,” I growled, my voice low and dangerous.
