Ethan was back?
Alice wasn’t surprised. A sardonic smile played on her lips.“So what? It doesn’t concern me.”
“Noah is quite ill. He can’t handle company matters, and Ethan found out. He also knew your grade was the top one in the city,”
Luke hadn’t expected Alice’s high score. A complex mix of emotions welled up inside him.
Alice’s tone was cold.“So?”
“Ethan’s flight arrives tonight. You know him. I suggest you move back home temporarily. After he leaves, you can move out again. Noah and I will keep it a secret.”
Luke knew Alice had moved out after being hurt.
So, he needed to make amends.
Alice hadn’t expected Ethan’s return.
But it was inevitable after her exam. It happened in her previous life too.
Alice had to face it eventually.
Her expression didn’t change.“No, thanks.”
“Alice, there’s no need to confront Ethan directly. You’ll only get hurt. You might even implicate Jack. You know Ethan. He’s capable of anything.”
Alice felt a surge of frustration.“I know how to handle it. Don’t worry about me.”
She knew dealing with Ethan would be difficult.
But Alice wouldn’t accept Luke’s suggestion. Since she had left, she wouldn’t be going back.
Luke sighed, “Alice, do you hate Noah and me that much?”
Feeling guilty, Luke and Noah wanted to make it up to Alice, but she wouldn’t accept it.
They were siblings. There shouldn’t be lasting grudges.
Alice’s eyes held a hint of mockery.“We have cut ties. What you’re saying is irrelevant.”
Back in the apartment, Alice ran a hand through her hair, feeling anxious.
She wasn’t worried about herself.
But she was worried about Jack.
After Alice’s livestream, Jack still hadn’t returned.
Alice waited on the couch, eventually falling asleep. She woke to the sound of the apartment door opening.
Alice opened her eyes to see Jack supporting Andrew, who was drunk.
Alice stood up.“Did you go out drinking?”
“You’re still up?”
Jack helped Andrew to his room, unceremoniously tossing him onto the bed before returning to Alice. “Something you want to talk about?”
“Yes.”

Jack removed his jacket, loosened his tie, and unbuttoned a few shirt buttons.
Alice quickly poured water and placed a glass of lemonade on Andrew’s nightstand before rushing to Jack.
She then put a glass in front of him too.
Jack’s gaze fell on Alice’s slender hands, his throat tightening slightly.“What is it?”
He guessed it had something to do with Chloe’s cheating allegations.
Alice said, “I want to find a new place to live. I won’t stay here anymore.”
Jack raised his eyebrows, his gaze locking on her face. He could see her apprehension and hesitation. “Why?”
Because… it’s not right for me to mooch off your place. I have money now, so I can buy my own.”
Alice offered a flimsy excuse.
She continued, “And if your girlfriend ever comes over, it won’t be convenient with Andrew here.”
“Are you worried that my girlfriend won’t have a place to sleep?”
Jack’s voice was husky, with a hint of teasing in his tone..
He leaned back on the sofa, his shirt open, his collarbones exposed.
Alice felt a strange pull at his relaxed posture.
She lowered her eyes.“It’s just a suggestion.”
“Don’t worry. She’ll sleep with me.”
A smirk played on Jack’s lips.“Alice, you’re young, but you think a lot.”
Alice’s mood soured after she heard that.
She couldn’t imagine Jack being that close to another girl and sharing a bed. It was unsettling.
Alice looked much calmer.“I’m going to bed.”
She turned and left, slamming the door quite forcefully.
Jack raised an eyebrow at the sound as he thought, “Is she angry?”
“Jack, you’re not being truthful. You don’t have a girlfriend,” Andrew slurred.
“I didn’t lie to her. Doesn’t your girlfriend sleep with you?” Jack retorted.

Andrew took a sip of lemonade. “You’re playing word games with Alice. Alice is so thoughtful. She even puts water by
bed. If it weren’t for her family background, I’d say you two would be perfect together.”

Jack’s eyes darkened.“Don’t joke about that.”
“Okay, let’s talk business. I just got a message. The exam footage was out. Chloe did cheat. The evidence is clear. What are you going to do?”
A cold smile touched Jack’s lips.“Exactly what needs to be done.”
Chloe deserved it.
Back in her apartment, Alice replayed Jack’s words, wanting to punch him.
Restless, she lay in bed.
Alice almost forgot about Jack’s girlfriend, hoping to ignore it.

But it was just self–deception.
Alice suggested moving out so that if Ethan found out where she was, he wouldn’t involve Jack.
Disturbed by it, Alice hardly slept all night.
The next day, she received a call from Mike.“Ms. Alice, the game you helped develop is about to launch. We need a final meeting with all participants, including you. Are you available this afternoon?”
“I don’t want to go. My absence won’t make a difference.”
Alice didn’t want to see the Welch family.

“Ms. Alice, this is work. I know how you feel, but we need to separate things. If you start your own business, and it’s related to the Welch family, will you avoid them forever?”
“Who says I’ll avoid them?”
Alice sighed, “I’ll be there.”
After hanging up, she was in frustration.
She wouldn’t run away.
Alice went to the hospital. Noah was still hospitalized.
Several project team members were present. It was true that they were going to have a meeting.
On the way, Alice wondered if this was a trap.
Noah’s eyes softened when he saw Alice.“Here you are. Let’s start the meeting.”
Alice stood aside, listening to the team’s complaints about the tight deadlines from the partners.
She realized that Andrew and Jack weren’t home these past few days, probably working on the game.
After the meeting, Alice turned to leave.
“Alice, wait.”
Soon, only the siblings remained.
Noah said, “Ethan came back last night. Do you know?”
“Yes, but my decision won’t change.”
As Alice reached the door, several people entered, led by a man in a suit, handsome and stern.
Ethan said coldly, “Stop. Where do you think you’re going? Come home with me!”
