Alice didn’t want to talk much with Jack.
The last incident with the security footage almost got Jack killed.
David had connections to the Garcia family, and she didn’t want to drag Jack into this mess again. He deserved a peaceful life back in his hometown, New York.
She had enough on her plate dealing with the Welch family; her life was far from peaceful.
Jack didn’t press her.“It’s getting late. Get some rest.”
After the call, Jack’s gentle expression hardened.
He tossed his phone down.“Find out what the hell is going on between David and Alice.”
“She didn’t tell you?” his friend, Garrett, asked.
“No.”
“That’s weird. Alice used to rely on you for everything. She’d tell you about any trouble. Why not this time?”
Jack sensed the shift in Alice’s demeanor.
He had a pretty good guess what she was thinking. He glared at Garrett. “Enough. Go find it out!”

“Actually, no need. I just checked the Harvard University online forums. David is the captain of the Harvard University gaming team, a total creep who preys on freshmen. Alice is gorgeous, and she’s a killer gamer, so naturally, this perv had his eye on her. He even tried to confess to her this afternoon outside the dorm.”
Garrett saw the darkening of Jack’s expression and quickly added, “But she rejected him. This jerk probably retaliated after being turned down, bribed the dorm manager, and tried to pull something nasty.”
Jack’s eyes turned cold, the slight curve of his lips sending shivers down Garrett’s spine.
He said softly and chillingly, “Take care of David.”
Garrett hesitated. “But Alice’s tough now. Maybe you should back off? She’ll handle David without your intervention.”
Jack lowered his eyelids.“I know.”
“If I hadn’t been sharp, Alice would’ve been caught. Julia and your mother are trying to find out who that girl was in the car accident with you.”
Jack fell silent.
Outside the hospital room, a middle–aged woman, Jack’s mother, overheard their conversation, her face hardening-
She pushed open the door and entered, a strained smile plastered on her face.
“Son, how are you feeling?”
“Mom, I’m being discharged today.”
“Good. I’ve arranged a dinner with the Garcias. We’ll talk about you and Julia.”
Jack’s expression remained indifferent.“Mom, I’ve never agreed to an engagement with the Garcia family.”
“You’re not getting any younger. The Garcias are a good match that is suitable for your status. What’s wrong with them?”
“Mom, I know what I’m doing. Don’t get too close to the Garcias; you’ll be the one facing the consequences!”
Jack’s tone was firm.

Amber Wilson was furious. “Is it because of that girl in the car accident? That’s why you’re refusing to marry Julia?” “Even without that girl, I wouldn’t marry into the Garcia family. Give it up.”
“Jack! You’re becoming increasingly disobedient! This isn’t up for discussion!”
The furious woman stormed out of the room.
She turned to her assistant.“Find out about this ‘Alice.‘ What’s her background?”
How dare she be involved with her son?
Amber had to be dealt with before it was too late!
The next day, the news of a cross–dressing pervert in the Harvard University women’s dorm spread like wildfire.
Parents bombarded the school with calls, demanding answers and accusing the school of negligence for the dorm matron’s dereliction of duty.
Alice, enjoying a peaceful morning sleep, was jolted awake by the ringing phone.
She recognized the number. It was a lawyer from the Garcia family.
She went to the balcony and answered.
“Alice, you’re behind what happened to David, right?
Openly defying the Garcia family won’t benefit you, and it will harm your family!”
Family?
Alice’s voice was calm.“I didn’t force David to dress as a woman and sneak into the dorm. And, to beg for mercy last night, he gave me some information about the Garcia family’s shady dealings.”
The lawyer’s voice became strained.“You think I’ll believe you?”
“Whatever.”
Alice hung up, a smirk playing on her lips.
That’s exactly what she intended. The Garcia family would inevitably target David, and she wouldn’t let that creep get away easily.
Checking her phone, she saw the dorm incident had blown up, trending across the internet. Many people discussed it.
It even reached the gaming community because David was a team captain.
Of course, he was the one being vilified.
Alice opened her laptop, preparing to sift through the data she’d salvaged from David’s phone as she needed to find evidence of money laundering to keep the Garcias in check.
A knock on the door interrupted her soon.
After her roommate Lana opened the door, several female professors entered. “The incident last night happened in your dorm, so we’d like to ask what happened.”
Alice closed her laptop. She noticed Lisa hiding under her blanket. She was clearly guilty.
Lana spoke first.“We didn’t expect anyone to be hiding in the bathroom. He suddenly burst out. We didn’t know he d bribed the matron to sneak in.”
A professor turned to Alice.“Is that correct?”
Alice’s tone was cold, about to respond when Lisa yanked open the blanket.

Her eyes were red and swollen.
She looked like a ghost. And her voice was choked. “Here’s the thing! David hid in our dorm because he was rejected by Alice, It has nothing to do with us!”
Lana’s face fell.“Lisa, do you know what you’re saying?”
Lisa shrunk back.“I’m telling the truth!”
Lana turned away, eyes closed; Lisa was utterly going to a dead end.
A cold smirk touched Alice’s lips at Lisa’s expression.
She hadn’t planned on contradicting Lana or saying anything more.
But Lisa was just ungrateful and would never change!
The professor asked, “Alice, was it because of a romantic entanglement between you and David that he came to the dorm to find you?”
“Absolutely not! I came back to the dorm and found no water here, and Lisa gave me a tampered bottle of water. David was already hiding in the bathroom!”
Lisa shrieked.“Alice, you promised Lana you wouldn’t say anything about me!”
“I didn’t plan on it, but you left me no choice! I’m no saint, so I’m not indulging you!”
Alice recounted everything that had happened the previous night.
However, she omitted Lisa’s warning and their joint plan.
Lisa completely broke down.“Alice, you betrayed me! You’re going to pay for this!”
Alice picked up her water glass and threw the water in Lisa’s face.
She tried to wake Lisa up.
