Alice and Caleb stared at each other like mortal enemies. Caleb sneered.“You don’t remember, but I’ll never forget.”
“Because I didn’t do it, so my conscience is clear!”
Alice was certain she hadn’t done anything to betray him. As a child, she’d always obeyed him; the idea of her sabotaging him was inconceivable.
Chloe panicked, realizing that she couldn’t let Caleb speak.
Otherwise, Chloe would be in trouble.
She stepped in, grabbing his arm.“Caleb, it’s not the time for this. We need to handle the situation; this is all over the internet.”
Caleb couldn’t have a scandal.
At least, not until she secured her place in the industry.
Caleb glanced at Chloe.“You’re right.”
Damage control was the priority.
He immediately called his manager.“Get the best PR team; handle this now.”
The manager
sounded frantic.“I’ve hired the top PR firm, and they’ll be there soon. It’ll be alright.”
“It will be fine. Tell them we were rehearsing a scene. The live stream was a surprise for the fans.”
Caleb’s gloomy gaze locked onto Alice.“You think your little game will work? Think again.”
Chloe chimed in, relieved.“Yes! Say we were rehearsing. Alice’s a newbie; it’s reasonable that you’d be giving her private coaching.”
This would explain everything.
Caleb hung up and glared at Alice. “The live stream is over. How shall I repay
this ‘gift‘?”
Chloe suggested cautiously, “Caleb, maybe a little lesson? Don’t injure her too badly, or it’ll be hard to explain to the media.”
She was afraid Caleb would lose control in his rage.
If Alice was seriously hurt, how could they claim it was just rehearsal?
Caleb shoved Chloe away, his fury palpable, however.“Do you think you can tell me what to do?”
Chloe fell to the ground, wincing in pain. Caleb was different from Alice’s other brothers; he was a volatile madman.
Caleb approached Alice, his eyes cold.“Choose. How do you want to die?”
Alice punched him, then kicked him across the room.
She wasn’t waiting for another beating!

Caleb, writhing in pain, yelled, “Grab her! Alice, you’re dead! You made me so mad!”
Alice pulled out pepper spray from her bag and sprayed the approaching goons.
Sirens wailed in the distance soon..
Caleb heard it and sat up, startled.“Alice, you called the cops?”
Alice was surprised; she hadn’t had time to do it.
But she didn’t deny it.“Now you should think about explaining this to the police.”

Caleb realized the situation was escalating. He should’ve left earlier; now the police were closing
- in.
He grabbed Chloe’s arm.“Stop the cops. You know what to say.”
“I know. You go,” Chloe said, desperate to prevent Caleb from getting into further trouble.
Caleb, supported by his goons, limped away, glaring back at Alice.“This isn’t over. I won’t be merciful next time.”
Alice smirked.“Same to you.”
She sat down after he left, wincing at the pain.
Seeing Caleb trying to escape, she shouted to the incoming officers, “He’s over there, trying to
run!”
Caleb’s goons tried to take a different route, but one fell into an abandoned sewer.
Alice heard Caleb’s scream, and the pain in her own body was momentarily forgotten.
He deserved it.
A helicopter appeared overhead suddenly, its shadow cutting across the dark sky like a movie
scene.
Alice looked up at the dark sky, vaguely seeing the helicopter.
Jack, grim–faced and furious, descended.
Andrew followed.“Let’s split up and search.”
Alice, concerned that they weren’t police officers when she heard the footsteps upstairs, decided to leave.
As she reached the stairs, she found herself surrounded.
Jack rushed toward her in the lead, his eyes narrowing at her injuries.
His voice was hoarse.“Why didn’t you call me?”
He’d seen the notification about her live stream. So he saw what had happened.
Alice forced a smile.“It happened so fast.”
She’d only suspected Chloe was eavesdropping; she hadn’t been entirely sure. Caleb was

hyper–vigilant about cameras. She might be caught easily. She’d only had one chance.

“Let’s get you to the hospital,” Jack said, his words tight with worry, carefully gathering her into
his arms.
“Go to the hospital later. I need to go to the police station. The media will be there by now.”
This was her chance.
Alice pulled away from Jack.“I’m fine. Just superficial wounds. I remembered what you taught me about protecting vital parts.”
Jack saw her swollen arm, and his heart ached.
His voice was sharp with concern.“Alice, why don’t you take good care of yourself?”
Alice hid her injuries; she needed a decisive blow against Caleb.
She limped forward, Jack supporting her.
His tone was sharp with concern.“Watch your step. Don’t fall and crack your skull.”
“Can you say something less terrifying?”
Andrew trailed behind, using his flashlight to illuminate their path.
When they arrived at the building’s exit, officers approached.“Go to the hospital.”
Alice stated, “I need a medical examination.”
Jack frowned.“You need to go to a hospital for that.”
Alice, disappointed not to see the media around them, was guided to a car by Jack.
He commanded, “You want to use the media to amplify this? I’ll help you when we get to the hospital. The hospital is your priority. Understand?”
Alice nodded.“OK.”
Chloe appeared.
She looked at Alice.“This will only make the Welch family hate you more. I never thought you’d be this cruel. Aren’t you Caleb’s sister?”
Chloe was distraught; she knew Caleb was doomed.
Alice glared at Chloe and then told the police, “She was involved too. She’s the one who instigated things between me and my brother, encouraging him to attack me.”
“Alice, you’re lying!”
Chloe’s voice was shrill.
The police took Chloe away. She yelled, “Alice, Ethan will get me out!”
Alice smirked. That might not happen.
Ethan was a self–serving man. If his interests were threatened, anything was possible.

Soon, Caleb and his goons were brought out, handcuffed.
Caleb was on a stretcher, his face bloodied, his injuries seemingly severe.
Alice approached, startled by the extent of his wounds.
She didn’t expect it to be so bad.
Caleb glared at her.“Alice, what are you looking at? If I’m disfigured, I’ll kill you!”
