Alice was surprised that it was Ethan who answered the call.
“Where’s Noah?” she asked coldly.

“Who is Noah? You don’t see him as your brother anymore, so why do you covet the wealth of the Welch family? Moreover, you are not a Welch anymore, so why?”
Ethan sounded triumphant because he finally got the upper hand in the confrontation against Alice.
To him, Alice had been a headache lately.
Alice’s tone was firm. “You have no right to dispose of what Dad and Mom gave me. I’d rather donate it to the charity organizations than give it to Chloe.”
“Dream on. Drop the charges against Caleb and Luke, and I will give it back to you. Otherwise, it will go to Chloe. I am as good as my word.”
Then, Ethan hung up the phone.
Alice kicked a table in frustration.
Then, a call from the Maple Company came.“Alice, bad news.”
“Go ahead.”
“Didn’t Noah’s company lose the bid? Lately, it began to lobby for support while spreading rumors.”
Hearing this, Alice smirked and thought, “I just knew it.”
She asked, “What rumors?”
“As a Welch, you participated in the Al project of the Welch Group. However, you stole the trade secrets when you disowned your family. Now, the Welch brothers are falsely accused.”
“That’s all they can do,” Alice commented.
Now, she felt it necessary to make things clear to the public, or her brothers wouldn’t stop causing trouble.
After training with her team members, Alice exercised at the
gym.
When she was working out on the treadmill, Jack’s voice sounded, “Aren’t you supposed to take a good rest now?”
Hearing the question, Alice adjusted the speed of the treadmill.
Looking at Jack, she asked, “Why are you here?”
“Did you contact Billy for the division of the Welch family’s assets?”
“Yes. I am not interested in the assets. However, Ethan intends to give Chloe what my parents left me, and that is unacceptable.”
The Welch Group was on the verge of bankruptcy after the Welch couple died.
The wealth the Welch family currently had resulted from the Welch brothers‘ hard work, so Alice didn’t covet it. Alice wouldn’t complain if her brothers intended to give all their wealth to Chloe.
However, she would insisted for what her parents had left her.
Jack understood Alice.“I didn’t expect them to use such a dirty trick to make you yield.”
“That’s how they treat me when things like this happen.”
Gazing at Jack, Alice said, “After the plagiarism, Ethan spreads rumors that I stole the trade secrets of the Welch Group.”
“What’s your plan?” Jack asked.
He knew that Alice had a plan, given her confident look.
“A

conference. I’ll clear things up in the press conference to prevent them from disgusting me again.”
Alice was ready for a showdown with her brothers.
Jack smiled. Not a bad idea.”
‘Since you agree, I will let the TG Company to arrange

conference for me.”

Alice had had enough of Ethan’s dirty trick.
Looking at Alice, Jack said, “After the showdown, it will be more difficult for you to get your parents‘ inheritance back. What’s your solution?
“Isn’t Chloe already in charge of the foundation? Greedy, she will cook the books for sure. I’ll gather evidence to send her to prison and disgrace
Ethan.”
Alice wouldn’t compromise.
Jack handed a bottle of water over.“Looks like you don’t need me.”
Alice had a full plan to fight against her brothers.
Alice tilted her head and looked at Jack.“No, I do.”
“Out with it. What can I do for you?”
“Your support. Be on my side even when I do something questionable against them.”
Alice looked at Jack agitatedly.

Jack tapped Alice’s forehead.“Of course. I will give you the knife when you want to kill someone, and I will keep watch when you want to set a house on fire.”
With a faint smile, Alice said, “Not that bad. I’m a law–abiding citizen.”
After exercise, Alice and Jack had dinner together.
Then, Jack drove Alice back to her college. The car pulled over, and he said after a moment of thought, “I will leave for a business trip in two days, and I will try my best to attend your press conference.”
“You don’t have to. Focus on your work because there is the public relations team. A professional one.”
Alice didn’t need Jack to be around her all the time.
Moreover, that press conference would be a problem between her and her brothers.
Jack watched Alice go into the campus and then called Andrew.“Alice will hold a press conference in the coming days. Keep an eye on the conference if I can’t make it.”
“Sure. You told John to publicly clarify your relationship with Julia. Isn’t it a public humiliation to the Garcia family?”
“I’ve given the Garcia family a lot of chances, but they didn’t seize them,” Jack said.
Never had he acknowledged his engagement to Julia, and he’d given the Garcia family many chances to clear things up. However, the Garcia family had played dumb all the time.
Now, the Garcia family had themselves to blame.

Jack didn’t end the call with Andrew till a message came from Alice, saying that she was already in her dormitory.
After checking the reply from Jack, Alice put down her phone.
Because of the noise from the bathroom, Alice glanced at Lana and then asked, “New roommate?”
“Yes, a special one.”
Right then, a stranger walked out of the bathroom.
Instantly, Alice found out how special her new roommate was.
She could tell by the deliberately slow gait that her new roommate had a handicap in the leg.
Alice greeted after one glance at her new roommate’s leg, “Hello, I’m Alice.”
“Hello.” That was all of the greeting from her new roommate, and there was no self–introduction.
Alice didn’t feel slighted.
She then got a new message from Lana.“She majors in journalism, and the housing office wants us to take care of her. However, she seems very reticent.
Alice replied, “Okay. Let’s see what we can do.”

The next day, Alice and Lana went to class when their new roommate was sleeping.
After class, Alice got a call.“Alice, the Garcia family will sponsor our team again, so contact them.”
“We don’t need their sponsorship. We already have a sponsor, Alice said.
“Alice, the Garcia family has been our sponsor for years, so it is inappropriate to say no. Just contact them.”
The caller hung up the phone without hesitation, so Alice didn’t have the chance to argue,
Alice felt unhappy.
She wished that this sponsorship would had no ultimate motives as Julia had said.
