Noah stepped forward.“Alice, let us drive you back to school. It’s late. I’m worried about you going
alone.”
“No, I’ll take a taxi.”
Alice remained distant. She agreed to reconcile with them, not forgive them.

She messaged Lana, “The stairs near our room are slippery. Warn our roommate not to use them.”

content.

Alice stopped.“Fancy meeting you here, Ms. Garcia. Are you here for the working out?”

Julia forced a smile.“I’m looking for someone.”
