“I won’t. I’ll do a good job. You can check my account anytime,” Chloe immediately said, as if feeling guilty.
But she could transfer the money to her father’s account, so Alice wouldn’t find out.

She looked up at Jack.“Let’s go.”

Ethan looked at Jack with disdain.“I won’t beat around the bush. You’re not worthy of my sister. Don’t think you can gain resources or benefits from her.”
“Ethan! Mind your own business!”
Alice defended Jack, not allowing Ethan to belittle him.
Jack remained calm, holding Alice’s hand to comfort her. Since Ethan said that, it was likely that he didn’t know Jack’s background.
Jack looked at Ethan.“You think all people are trying to climb the social ladder through women like you?”
This statement made Ethan’s face flushed with anger, leaving him speechless.
Alice ignored Ethan and left the lounge with Jack.
Noah wanted to chase after them, but Ethan fainted from anger, so he had to stay to take care of
him.
“Why did you come over?” Alice asked, looking around the event site.
“I came to see how you were doing because I was worried.”
Jack looked closely at her face and saw nothing out of the ordinary, but he was still feeling uneasy.
He couldn’t help but ask, “What are you planning to do with the foundation?”
Alice answered, “I was merely pretending. Chloe will believe me more if I appear to care.”

Alice stood on tiptoe, covering his mouth.“I don’t care.”
Jack held her hand.“Hear me out first.”
“No, listen. I don’t care about your status because I like
you for who you are.”
Alice cupped his face.“Don’t take Ethan’s words to heart. You’re more important than them.”
Jack felt his heart fill with warmth.
He was moved.
He finally mustered the courage to say,“Alice, actually, I’m…”
But Alice turned her head and looked into the distance.“Is that John over there?”
Jack turned around and indeed saw John, who had been concealed by some flowers but was now visible after the flowers had all been moved away.
Jack gritted his teeth, thinking, “Was this brat born to mess up my life?”
Alice walked over to John, curious about what he was so engrossed in.
Jack kicked him, causing John to wince in pain and yell, “Who is it? Who kicked me! I—I…”
When John saw Jack, he immediately quieted down.

Alice looked at John.“What are you doing here?”

John glanced at Jack, thinking Jack had already informed Alice.
But it seemed he hadn’t.
With sweaty palms, Jack looked anxiously at Alice and said, “I have something to tell you.”
