Alice frowned, wondering what Julia wanted to talk to her about.
After thinking for a moment, she stood up and went to the office.
Alice poured a glass of water for Julia.“This is a modest place. Ms. Garcia, would you like some water?”
“Thanks. You can call me Julia. And you don’t have to be so on guard. I’m here to discuss a collaboration.”
“Collaboration?”
Alice remained wary. She had had a serious falling out with the Garcia family before. She didn’t believe Julia was unaware of it.
In addition, there had been rumors of the Garcia and Wilson families‘ recent failed engagement.
Max had been keeping a low profile lately.
“Yes, the Garcia family has been sponsoring the Harvard University base for years. We have been working closely together. You must have seen the investment returns before. So, I’d like to invite you to join in,” Julia explained.
Alice was taken aback.
The former team captain had collaborated with the Garcia family on some high–end investments, which turned out to be money laundering for the Garcia family.
Alice replied, “I’m not interested in that. I’m afraid I can’t collaborate with you.”
“Would you like to consider it first? I heard that you have a charity foundation under your name. The collaboration I’m proposing is also related to a charity foundation. The event you held a few days ago was quite poorly organized. It has been discussed in the social circle that you’re only here to make money.”
Alice became angry.“This foundation was created by my parents. It’s definitely not a money grab.”

After hearing this, Alice asked, “Why do you want me to join?”

After Julia left, Alice called her charity foundation to prepare for the event.
They needed to buy many supplies, especially sanitary pads.

The person in charge asked, “Should we leave this to Ms. Black? She needs to sign off on the funds.”

That night, Alice returned to her dorm from the team base.
She saw a bouquet of roses on the table, beautifully wrapped.
Lana exclaimed, “Wow, Mary, did you get the flowers from your boyfriend?”
Mary glanced at the roses and nodded. “You can say that.”
Alice looked at the roses silently, guessing they were from Ethan.
Lana turned to Alice.“Will you allow that hypocrite to get involved with the charity event too? She ingratiated herself with Mrs. Yates and made things difficult for you the other day at the event, and Ethan even defended her. I suspect something is going on between them!”
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Alice glanced at Mary. It was best not to say such things in front of Mary due to Mary’s relationship with Ethan.
“I didn’t say anything wrong. Chloe caused trouble, but Ethan blamed you for it. I think it’s wrong to be so prejudiced. They’re not even siblings. Isn’t it normal to think something is going on between them?”
Mary frowned at the remarks.“Maybe they’re just close siblings.”

Alice planned to talk to him about it when he returned. He didn’t need to work so hard.

At the entrance, she was stopped and told, “The back door is for employees. You’re not entering here.”
Alice replied, “I’m not an employee. And aren’t you an employee too? Do you look down on yourself?”
The employee became furious. “I’ve seen many gold diggers like you. This is a members–only club. Do you have a membership?”
Alice didn’t.
“Well, isn’t this Alice? Why are you stopped at the entrance?”
Max and Chloe walked over, arm in arm.
“Alice, are you here to meet your poor boyfriend? Didn’t he tell you this is a members–only club?” Chloe was pleased to see Alice in trouble.
“Pumpkins like Alice know nothing. A little money doesn’t make you rich. You would have to pull a string to become a member of the club.”
Max wanted to humiliate Alice. “But if you apologize to me, I’ll take you in. My sister has a black card membership.”
Alice laughed, “Your sister invited me.”
“No way. Julia wouldn’t bother with you.”
Max was unsure although she said so. She was aware that Julia had a function today.
She wondered if Julia had invited Alice.
‘Ms. Welch, it’s really you.” Amber approached, surprised to see Alice.

Amber asked, “Why are you standing at the entrance?”
Max chimed in, “Mrs. Wilson, she wanted to get in without a membership. Of course, she got blocked. She’s really overestimating herself. Does she think she can just go anywhere she wants?”
Max, are you so ill–bred? It’s just a club. Can you get admitted without your sister’s
membership?”
Amber gracefully stuffed the membership card from her purse into Alice’s hand. “Take it. Use it as you please.*
