Chapter 54
Alice raised an eyebrow, a chill in her eyes. She glanced at the things on the floor and reached for the doorknob.
The butler blocked her. “Miss Alice, if you have a problem with me, say it. But Miss Chloe didn’t do anything to
you!”
Alice scoffed, grabbing a lighter and tossing it. The lighter ignited a textbook, quickly spreading flames.
The butler’s face turned white. “She’s crazy! Someone, get water!”
Alice slammed the door shut. She smelled burning, calmly opening her game. Several private messages awaited.
Luke’s messages:
*If you join our team, we’ll offer excellent treatment. Any other requests? We’ll meet them.*
*Landing Team is backed by the Windham family. Don’t worry about money. My fourth brother owns a film company; we can help you enter the entertainment industry.*
*Whether you’re a student or working, joining Landing Team is beneficial. You don’t need to be full–time.
Consider it!*
Alice found his messages amusing. He still hadn’t given up.
She replied: “I’ll think about it.”
She wondered what his reaction would be if he knew this was her alt account. She was suddenly excited.
She finished a dungeon when a pounding on the door started.
“Alice, get out here!”
Alice heard Luke’s voice. She calmly distributed items, ignoring him.
The door burst open. Luke stormed in, furious seeing her playing.
“Alice, look what you did! You threw Chloe’s things out and set them on fire! You’re out of line!” He’d seen the damage in the hallway and was shocked. Had Alice really changed this much?
Alice exited the game, turning around, her expression impassive.“So?” Her tone was defiant.
Luke’s temples throbbed. “Alice, I know you’re angry about us favoring Chloe, neglecting you. But take it out on us! Chloe owe you nothing, and her father saved your life!”
“Luke, stop. I’m moving out. I’m an adult now, I don’t belong here.”
Chloe, clutching burned textbooks, her eyes red, looked utterly distraught.
“Chloe, don’t say that. When Noah gets back, he’ll see Alice for who she really is! The exams are over, we don’t have to worry.”
“Luke, if me leaving helps you reconcile with Alice, and she joins the team for the finals, I’ll go!”
Luke sneered. “Alice, you think you’re indispensable? We don’t need you.”
Alice raised an eyebrow. He’d just messaged her on her game account. He had many faces.
Luke smugly said, “I found a talented Gunner. She said she might join, so don’t think you can control us!”
Chloe asked, Luke, you really found someone?”

“Yes, she replied an hour ago.”
Alice understood who he meant. She’d only said she’d consider, not that she’d accept.
She smirked. “So sure she’ll join?”

“Of course! Our team offers excellent treatment. It’s a win–win for her. With enough money, I can get anyone!”
Luke finally felt victorious.
“Alice, I gave you a chance. You didn’t appreciate it. Don’t blame me.”
Alice’s tone was casual.“Whatever.”
“Alice, apologize to Chloe!” Luke no longer relied on Alice.
Alice raised an eyebrow.“It’s my room. She shouldn’t have moved in without my permission.”
“She only stayed a few days! What’s the big deal?”
“Then why didn’t you let Chloe stay on the team for the finals? Because she’s terrible, and you were afraid she’d affect the team? How petty! She lowered her grades to participate. You shouldn’t have benched her! We’re a family team! Even if Chloe isn’t skilled, she’s hardworking! Losing is fine, it’s not the end of the world!”
Alice’s rapid–fire rebuttal left Luke speechless. He couldn’t handle it? He used those words to guilt–trip her!
Luke was furious.“Alice, you’re hopeless! If you don’t apologize, I’ll pretend you’re not my sister!”
Alice laughed.“Good. Less trouble.”
“Fine! Don’t regret this, Alice!” Luke stormed out.
Chloe looked at Alice, her voice trembling.“Alice…”
“Get out!”
Alice slammed the door. Chloe was furious. Was Alice crazy? But Alice wanting to sever ties was convenient for
her.
Alice logged back into her game, seeing Luke’s invitation and contract. So eager? Remembering his arrogance, she replied:“Let me review the contract.”
Luke:“No problem. Any conditions, just ask.”
Alice found his polite tone amusing. Last time, she’d trained hard, and he’d never been this nice. People were
strange.
The next morning, Alice slept in. Downstairs, Noah had returned, and Luke was complaining.
Noah glanced at Alice; she was indifferent. He said listlessly, “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have let Chloe stay in Alice’s room. She’s right to be angry.”
Luke was shocked.“Noah, how can you say that? Chloe only stayed for two days! And her father saved Alice’s life!”
Noah heard those familiar, hurtful words, the pain resonating deeply. He was conflicted. If he sided with Alice, Chloe would be hurt.
Chloe spoke up.“Noah, I’ve decided to move out.”
Luke stopped her. “Chloe, don’t be silly! Alice is starting trouble!”
The butler added, “Sir, persuade Miss Chloe. She didn’t do anything wrong!”

Noah was speechless. Alice, her head throbbing, flipped the dining table, food flying towards Chloe and Luke.
The dining room fell silent.
