Chapter 59
Alice’s expression was unwavering. Chloe was increasingly uneasy; the streamer’s voice was too similar to Alice’s almost identical! But she refused to believe Alice was the streamer. Alice couldn’t be that good.
Her sidekick sneered, “Alice, stop pretending. The streamer didn’t show her face; the voice just sounds like yours. Don’t take credit for something you didn’t do.”
The class monitor defended her. “But Alice is amazing! She achieved the twelve–hit combo and won the revival match!”
“Right. Someone was dragging their feet in that match, only winning because of Alice.”
“Exactly! Chloe, you’re just jealous that Alice is better!”
Chloe’s eyes welled up. Some boys started defending her.
“Alice, you made Chloe cry! Apologize!”
Alice’s expression was calm.“She’s just bad.”
Chloe, unwilling to give up, looked pitiful.“Everyone, stop. I’m not good at games. No matter how hard I try, I can’t beat Alice. But I’m happy for her.”
Alice sneered.“Good to know. Keep trying.”
Chloe was taken aback; Alice had accepted her apology. But the boys continued defending her. “Alice, you’re only slightly better at games. Showing off is wrong.”
“You made Chloe cry! Apologize!”
Alice’s smile didn’t reach her eyes. “Do you think you’re worthy?”
“Alice, you’re going too far!”
The class monitor, standing beside Alice, said, “Stop defending Chloe! Whenever something happens, she cries, playing the victim. It’s annoying!”
“Yes, talk it out, don’t just cry. Does that make you right?”
The girls disliked Chloe’s manipulative behavior. She could always get away with things by crying.
After being scolded, Chloe cried in front of the boys, gaining their sympathy.
Alice left, having no time to waste. She didn’t want to see any of the Windhams, including Chloe.
The monitor caught up. “Alice, don’t let Chloe stop you. We’re your fans. We’ll support you.” They knew “Sweet
Lemon” was Alice.
Alice smiled shyly. “I… wasn’t trying to hide it.”
“Don’t explain. We understand. Some jealous people will try to sabotage you.” Chloe, so petty, would surely cry now that Alice was famous.
Alice sighed. “Thanks.”
Luke, waiting at the school gate, saw Alice and approached. He hadn’t been able to reach her. His WhatsApp was deleted. He was furious.
Alice’s expression was calm. She told the monitor, “I’ll go. Talk later.”

She turned to leave, not wanting to talk to Luke. He was even angrier.“Alice, stop! Noah was hospitalized for days because of you. He’s always been the kindest to you, and you didn’t even visit him!”
Alice stopped. She remembered Noah having a stomach ache last time.
“Alice, how long will you keep this up? Noah begged you to return. The defective supplies before the exam were an accident. The butler apologized. What else do you want? His life?”
Luke’s accusations echoed in her ears, making her seem like the villain. She turned, her gaze unwavering.
“Which hospital is Noah in?”
“You only care now? Too late. I won’t tell you.” Luke was angry; Alice didn’t care about her family. Before, she’d worry if he even coughed. Now she was heartless.
Alice nodded.“Fine.” She continued walking.
“Alice, aren’t you going to see Noah?”
“I asked, but you wouldn’t tell me.”
Luke was angry.“I was just angry! You wouldn’t really skip it, would you?”
Alice’s tone was indifferent.“Chloe’s with him. It doesn’t matter if I go.”
“It does! Chloe isn’t our real sister.”
Luke saw Chloe approaching. The situation was awkward; everyone heard him. Chloe, mortified, started crying.
Alice smirked. “Luke, that’s wrong of you. Chloe is adopted but has done a lot for our family. How could you say that?” Guilt–tripping? She could do it too.
Luke’s face turned various colors. He looked at Chloe and explained, “That’s not what I meant.”
Chloe wiped her tears, smiling bravely. “I know, Luke has always been kind to me, like a real brother.”
Luke sighed, relieved. One Alice was enough; he didn’t need Chloe upset too. He turned to Alice.“Chloe is always obedient and considerate. Unlike you, always sulking and running away!”
Alice admired Chloe’s acting. She turned and walked away. Luke, unwilling to give up, followed.“Alice, what part–time job are you doing? Livestreaming?” He suspected it was Alice.
Alice looked up, a smirk on her face. “Luke, you want to know if ‘Sweet Lemon‘ is me, right?”
Luke looked uncomfortable.“Don’t overthink it. I was just curious.”
Alice’s eyes were mocking. When she’d trained hard for Landing Team, he’d never cared! Now that she’d left, he was desperately trying to get her back.
She said calmly, “Do you hope I am, or I’m not?”
