Chapter 74
Alice found Luke’s pathetic attempts at damage control utterly amusing.
Alice thought, “He’s worried about his reputation now? Why didn’t he consider the consequences before speaking
to the reporters? Or was it all about a preemptive strike, a guilt trip to manipulate me?”
This time, she wouldn’t play along.
Alice replied:“Time is different now. I have absolutely no intention of joining Landing Team.”
“Seriously? Do you want to join the Blitzkrieg Team? No! You can’t!”
“You have no say in this!”
Alice blocked Luke after sending the message.
She was free to do as she pleased, no longer needing to consider her brothers‘ opinions or their concerns.
After showering and changing her clothes, Alice went to Jack’s apartment next door.
She found him emerging from his apartment in a loose bathrobe, looking like he’d just finished showering.
Alice’s eyes instantly landed on his abs. Her face flushed and her mind went blank.
Jack looked equally flustered when he saw Alice.
He adjusted his robe, his voice deliberately calm.“Awake?”
“Yeah, just a little dizzy.”
Jack looked at her hesitantly.“Do you remember what you did last night?”
Alice tried to recall but shook her head. “Nothing. Did I do something embarrassing?”
She wished she didn’t!
Jack studied her expression. She was terrible at hiding her thoughts, so he was fairly certain she had no memory the previous night.
He hadn’t slept a wink because of it.
He sighed, “It’s dangerous for girls to get drunk late at night. Don’t drink again.”
Alice blushed, stammering, “I…I accidentally got drunk. I only meant to have a few sips.”
Jack’s eyes narrowed. “Alcohol makes you stupid, and you aren’t smart in nature.”
Alice felt a sting of hurt, but then he offered her a cup of honey water, saying coldly, “Drink this.”
“Thank you.”
Alice sipped the honey water, and then shyly looked at Jack.“Mr. Wilson, you’re actually quite caring. Whoever becomes your girlfriend would be very lucky.”
His gaze deepened after hearing that.“I don’t want a girlfriend for now.”
“No plans for a relationship? Why not? Are you too busy with work?”
Alice was curious. She’d seen him with a girl at a restaurant once.
Jack sensed her line of questioning. He said indifferently, “No.”
Chapter 24
Alice’s gaze flickered, avoiding his.
He noticed her shyness. “I need to go out.”
“Oh, okay.”
Watching him leave, Alice curled up on the sofa, her mind replaying his words.
She thought, “He doesn’t want a relationship. Probably because he hasn’t met someone he likes.”
Alice felt a pang of sadness. She seemed to be developing feelings for Jack.
Then she thought of her online crush from her previous life, a wave of complex emotions washing over her.
She wondered if Jack was her crush.
In the afternoon, Alice logged into her game and found her fanbase had exploded.
She invited Jane to team up.
Jane exclaimed, “Chloe is distorting the fact and slandering you on her livestream! She’s gone too far!”
Alice opened the video Jane sent.
Chloe, the very picture of fragile innocence, had bandages and plasters on her head and hands.
She sobbed before the camera. “Alice, even though you’re ignoring my calls and messages, and refusing contact with the family…I still want to tell you publicly that our brothers are worried about you. What happened at the party was an accident. Please don’t be angry. Come home!”
Many fans commented:“Princess Chocolate, don’t cry! I’ll be heartbroken.”
“Princess Chocolate, you’re so sweet. That bitch needs a lesson!”
Alice’s voice was calm after seeing it.“You know Chloe. She loves to play such tricks.”
“I’m furious! I told all my close friends what really happened, and she’s still lying! I’ve asked my brother for the hotel’s security footage. We need to expose her!”
Alice looked at her computer screen.“I’ll release it once we get it.”
She didn’t want to get Jane involved.
If Chloe wanted to try her old tricks again, Alice wouldn’t hesitate to fight back.
But something felt off. Alice felt Chloe couldn’t be so stupid. She knew Alice got the goods on her, but why did she still publicly provoke her?
Soon, Jane messaged Alice.“Bad news! My brother just told me the footage was deleted.”
“Looks like she came prepared.”
Alice had suspected as much.
Mera
“Alice, what can we do? We know what happened at the party, but she’s framing you. Should we have Noah clear things up? His words would be believable.”
Alice offered a sarcastic smile. “Noah won’t do that.”
It would be detrimental to Chloe, and Noah was too biased to do that.
“Shall we do nothing and just let her get away with it?”

Alice’s eyes were cold.“No.”
She logged out of the game, grabbed a USB drive, and her fingers flew across the keyboard.
Alice hacked into the hotel’s security system and retrieved the deleted footage.
She would restore it!

Hotels usually kept hidden backups of the footage. It would just take some time.
While recovering the data, Alice forwarded the video to Noah. “What’s wrong with Chloe?”
Noah called immediately. “I just found out about this. Chloe didn’t mean any harm. She just wanted to reconcile with you.”
“This is reconciliation? She’s misleading everyone, Noah, are you blind? You always say we’re a family. I don’t need a family that stabs me in the back!”
Alice hung up.
She’d thought escaping the Welch family would solve her problems, but they kept haunting her.
She wouldn’t hesitate to retaliate.
Noah sighed and went downstairs, clutching his stomach.
He’d drunk a lot last night, and his stomach was aching badly.
He told the butler, “I need to see Chloe. Get her to come down.”
Soon, Chloe rushed down.“Noah, what is it?”
“What you said on the livestream will mislead others. Don’t do it again.”
Chloe was reluctant to follow his words. “Noah, I was just anxious to have Alice come back. I didn’t mean anything
else.”
Noah, in pain, lost his patience.“Just do as I say.”
Chloe bowed her head.“Yes, Noah. My livestream isn’t over yet. I have to go back to my room.”
Covering his belly, Noah nodded with a pale look.
Chloe noticed Noah had a stomachache but didn’t take it to heart as she returned to her livestream.
Watching her leave, Noah felt a chill.
Suddenly, he missed Alice. When he had a stomachache, Alice would always drop everything to care for him until he recovered.
He’d missed her herbal tonics for him so much.
Since Alice left, the house became empty.
Noah found the food unpalatable, and his stomach was in a constant state of discomfort.
Noah covered his face. He really regretted it.
It wasn’t Alice who needed the Welch family; it was the Welch family who needed Alice.
