He’d managed everything to appease Alice.
But Chloe stole the spotlight.

Chloe, with teary eyes, said to Alice, “Alice, I didn’t mean to, I thought you were deliberately hiding your identity to better blend in at the company as an intern.”
Alice smirked. Chloe’s mind worked quickly.

The manager explained, “Ms. Alice said her code was stolen.”

The team leader of the tech department hadn’t solved the issue in months. How could he have suddenly cracked it?
The team leader denied it.“I didn’t steal it. I wrote it myself.”
Chloe added, “Alice said someone stole her code. She needs proof.”
Without proof, Alice wouldn’t prevail.
Noah looked at Alice, doubtful.“Alice, are you sure it was him?”
Alice’s gaze was mocking.“Yes!”
Mike looked at the manager.“Check the security footage.”
“Right, the footage!”
The manager returned dejectedly. “The lobby cameras were broken. The footage from the past few days is gone.”
Chloe looked smug. She knew that would happen.

Chloe smiled, looking worried at Noah.“Noah, Alice wanted to help you solve this problem. We know she tried hard, but we shouldn’t let her take his credit just to make her look good.”
Noah was conflicted and agitated.
He tugged at his tie.“Mike, find other evidence.”
“There is evidence!”
Alice pulled out her phone, showing the security footage from last night.
It clearly showed what happened last night.
The team leader accessed her computer, copied the files, and tampered with her code.
It was clear.
Noah slapped the team leader angrily. “You dared to tamper with my sister’s work? Are you courting death?”

The team leader was stunned. This was impossible!
He hacked into the security system and deleted the footage. How was there evidence?
Chloe noticed something was wrong after that.
Alice had the footage. Why hadn’t she shown it earlier? It was a trap?
Chloe supported the team leader, her eyes filled with distress.“How could you do this? I trusted you!”
The team leader, smelling Chloe’s perfume, felt his senses melt.
He spun a tale.“It was me. I just didn’t like her arrogance. No one else was involved.”
He couldn’t betray Chloe.
He believed Alice had acted out of spite and bullied Chloe. So Chloe fought back.
Chloe was relieved as she heard it.
She couldn’t be exposed.
She looked at Alice, feigning remorse. “Alice, I shouldn’t have doubted you. I’m sorry.”
Alice sneered. “You should apologize.”
Chloe’s face stiffened; fear flickered in her eyes.
The team leader, ever the white knight, said, “Ms. Black’s doubt was understandable. Alice didn’t show any proof!”
Everyone was shocked.
The manager yelled, “You stole her code, and you dare speak up?”
Noah’s eyes were cold.“Mike, fire him and call the police!”
The team leader panicked upon hearing that.
Chloe, with tear–filled eyes, looked at the team leader. In the end, he didn’t reveal the truth. Security escorted him

“The team leader probably couldn’t solve the firewall issue and was afraid to take responsibility when Noah came for his inspection. So he did so.”
Chloe panicked. Alice seemed so calm and collected, implying she might have more evidence.
Noah’s face was stern.“We need to find out if anyone else is involved. I don’t believe a mere team leader would dare to do this.”
