Alice replied in a cold tone, “No.”

Jack saw her pale face.“I told you not to come down alone.”

Alice realized she was in his arms. She awkwardly stepped back.
Jack retracted his hand.“Should we call the police?”

An elderly woman came and said, “That path has blind spots. The police received reports before, but no one was ever caught. Young lady, don’t walk alone at night in quiet areas. It’s dangerous.”
Alice nodded. She hadn’t expected this.

Alice didn’t want to stay outside. She felt being watched.

“Drink some warm water.”
A pair of hands with long fingers appeared in her sight. She took the glass.“Thank you.”
Seeing her pale face, Jack said gently, “I’ll investigate the thing. He must have left a trace. There’s no such thing as a blind spot.”
Since Alice would continue living here, the threat had to be eliminated.
Alice looked up.“You mean hacking into the security system?”

Jack said seriously, “All you need now is rest.”

It wasn’t true anyway.
Jack’s face darkened. He hadn’t expected that man to be so bold.
He said calmly, “Stay here tonight.”
Alice nodded. “I’ll sleep on the sofa.”
Jack frowned. “You can sleep in my room. I’ll sleep on the sofa.”

Her heart skipped a beat.“Isn’t Andrew coming back?”
The apartment had two bedrooms. There was no extra room.
“His room is like a pigsty. Don’t even try.”
Alice gave up.“I can sleep on the sofa. It’s fine.”
“Go sleep in my room. I have things to do tonight. I might not sleep.”
His expression was slightly unnatural, but he hid it well.
Alice went to get pajamas in the next room. Jack waited at the door.
Alice came out of the room and saw him standing at the door. She felt safe.
She went into his bedroom. It was simple and clean.
He brought a new blanket. “You can use this.”

Jack’s face turned dark.“Which floor?”

Jack turned off his computer. He sent a message and went to the bedroom.
He stood for a moment before leaving the apartment.
A line of men in black suits stood at the entrance. They all wore white gloves, baseball caps, and masks.
They stood silently.

One of the men used an electronic keycard to open the door.
Jack walked in and heard moans from the study.
He found the middle–aged man watching pornography.
