Zachary slowly approached Lenora, coming to a halt before her. He gently brushed aside a stray lock of hair from her temple, softly saying, “I’m sorry.”
Regarding the Lola incident, he had always owed her an apology.
Had he believed Lenora in the first place, perhaps all these subsequent events could have been avoided. She wouldn’t have had to endure the relentless online attacks and insults coming at her from all directions.
She hadn’t done anything wrong, yet she lived as if she were a rat hidden in the shadows, scorned and shunned whenever she dared to show her face.
Instinctively, Lenora took a step back, lowering her gaze. “Mr. Fuller.”
Had this apology come a bit sooner, she might have been profoundly touched.
“Now that we’re alone, you can call me Zack.”
Lenora maintained her usual composure, speaking in a low voice. “Mr. Fuller, I believe Mr. Gale has a point. Due to personal reasons, I’ve caused significant damage to the company. I can’t shirk the responsibility and can no longer stay in this position with a clear conscience. Therefore, I wish to resign.”
Zachary’s brows furrowed slightly. “It’s my fault, not yours. Just focus on your work and don’t overthink things.”
Lenora pressed her lips together.
She didn’t want to overthink things either.
But under such pressure, she felt a suffocating weight on her chest.
Even in the company, wherever she went, she could feel the eyes on her, whether they were curious, mocking, disdainful, contemptuous, or obscene.
It took all her strength to present her work calmly in front of everyone.

response.

Lenora turned around.
“Don’t forget to come to the Fuller residence on Saturday morning,” Zachary suddenly said.

Watching Lenora disappear at the doorway, Zachary stood still for a moment. Turning around, he walked over to his desk and made an internal call. “Have Mr. Wimble come to my office.”
Billy suspected that Zachary was going to cause him trouble, but he was confident Zachary had no evidence against him, so he strode into the office with his head held high.
“Mr. Fuller, what did you need from me?”
Zachary was lounging on the couch, legs crossed, casually sipping his coffee. Zachary glanced at the seat across from him and gestured to Billy, saying, “Sit.”
“I didn’t expect you to be so relaxed, Mr. Fuller!” Billy said as he sat down opposite Zachary.
Zachary gave a subtle smile. “I won’t beat around the bush. Here’s a document, Mr. Wimble. Take a look and see if you have anything to say.”
As he spoke, he slowly slid the folder in front of him across to the other side.
The folder appeared quite ordinary, with a common blue exterior and no labels.
Yet, it was this ordinary folder that stirred a hint of anxiety in Billy’s heart.
He knew that Zachary would never enter a battle unprepared, but he couldn’t guess what was inside.
Billy slowly opened the folder, his eyes swiftly scanning the pages. When he saw a familiar name, his face changed dramatically. “Mr. Fuller, there must be a misunderstanding here! Gavin is very honest. There’s no way he could have done this!” he exclaimed.
“The evidence is clear as day. How could there be any misunderstanding? If you don’t believe it, you can personally ask Gregory and your son.”
Billy’s face turned pale.
For Zachary to say this, he was clearly already certain of his case.
Seeing that Billy remained silent, Zachary continued, “As Mr. Gale mentioned, the recent news has severely damaged the company’s reputation and stock, causing significant losses. I will file both civil and

criminal lawsuits against Gregory and Gavin for defamation and reputational damage on behalf of myself and the company. Given your dedication to the company, I’m sure you fully support this, right?”
The legal department of Fuller Group was certainly not to be underestimated.
Moreover, given the severe impact and malicious nature of the news, if Zachary and the company were to win the lawsuit, Gregory and Gavin would face enormous compensation claims. They could lose everything, and prison wasn’t out of the question.
Additionally, defamation and reputational damage cases were matters of private prosecution. Even if Billy knew that Gavin’s actions were undoubtedly orchestrated by Lola, if Zachary chose not to press charges against Lola or decided to forgive her, the responsibility would then solely fall on Gavin.
At that very moment, Billy couldn’t help but regret helping the ungrateful Lola.
She had already lost her sanity to the point of irrationality. Fearing that Billy would abandon her, she deliberately dragged Gavin into the mess.
Billy maintained his composure and retorted, “If that’s the case, let’s be frank. Isn’t it true that you and Lenora are involved? Can you really guarantee that you will win the case?”
Leaning against the back of the couch, Zachary wore an air of confidence. “If you don’t believe me, then let’s see!”
Billy fell silent, seemingly weighing the pros and cons.
“You currently have two options to choose from. For your first option, you can bet on me losing the case. The risk is high, but so is the potential reward. If your gamble fails, Gavin will face massive compensation payments and prison time. I’ve already had people look into all the assets under Gavin’s name, so temporary transfers won’t work.”
After a pause, Zachary then said, “For your second option, you must resign from the board of directors on your own accord. In regards to your instigation of the police against Lenora, you need to apologize to her. Once you’ve done this, I’ll forgive Gavin. If Lola had the audacity to act this way, she might have evidence to turn the tables and frame Gavin as the mastermind. You should think this through carefully.”
With a settlement agreement, Gavin’s responsibility could be lessened. He might still need to pay some compensation, but the risk of imprisonment would be eliminated.
At this point, Zachary owed a debt of gratitude to Lola. He was thankful for her involvement in dragging Gavin into the situation, which gave him leverage over Billy.
Otherwise, to remove Billy, a dismissal would have to be proposed at the board meeting.
Billy looked as if he had a chameleon’s face, his complexion alternating between pale and green. In the end, he didn’t dare to take the risk. “I choose the second option.“”
He had painstakingly climbed the corporate ladder from the bottom, step by step, until he reached the position of deputy general manager. If he had stayed a few more years, he might have even gained some shares and become a minor shareholder. Yet, who would have thought that he would end up resigning on his own accord in the end?
He couldn’t accept this.

Just earlier, the police had taken Lenora’s work phone back to the station to collect evidence from the numbers of those who had been harassing her. There were some internal company documents on the phone that couldn’t be leaked, so Miles accompanied the police to the police station.
“Leave it with me.”
“Sure.” Miles placed the phone on the table and exited the office.
Zachary paused for a few seconds before he picked up the phone and switched it on.
After entering the password, he opened the list of all text messages. At first glance, he saw the message: Lenora, drop dead!
