The meeting was still in session.
But Nolan didn’t care. He was about to walk out of the company without saying a word to anyone.
Just then, the conference room door burst open.
Tyson stepped in.
The moment everyone saw who it was, they all stood up.
“Mr. Hayes, where are you off to in such a rush?”
There was a faint, playful smile on Tyson’s face.
A group of bodyguards followed behind him, quickly surrounding the doors to the conference room.
It was clear–they weren’t letting anyone leave.
Nolan said coldly, “Move.”
“The meeting isn’t over. Since Mr. Hayes is in charge of Hayes Corp, he should abide by the company’s rules.”
Tyson strolled into the room without hurry. His assistant promptly pulled out a chair for him.
The other executives looked genuinely pleased to see Tyson.
He’d been overseas handling company business for a long time and hadn’t returned until now. With Tyson back, the higher–ups who supported him suddenly found their confidence again.
“Mr. Hayes, thank goodness you’re back.”
“Seriously, you don’t know what’s been going on here lately.”
“I said long ago–Nolan’s too young to run Hayes Corp. Look at this! Right in the middle of a meeting, he tries to walk out. That’s just irresponsible. Mr. Hayes, please take over and bring things back under control.”
All around, people were hoping Tyson would speak up for them.
They were even more eager for him to take command of the Hayes family.
After all, the idea of following a man who had killed his own parents as a teenager left many executives deeply uneasy.
They lived in fear that one wrong move might land them the same fate.
“There’s no need to worry,” Tyson said calmly. “Mr. Hayes may be young, but his abilities speak for themselves. I’m sure he won’t abandon you, right, Mr. Hayes?”
With that one sentence, Tyson backed Nolan into a corner.

If Nolan left now, it would be as good as admitting he wasn’t up to the job.
The secretary beside him couldn’t help glancing at Nolan.
“Mr. Hayes…”
This wasn’t the time to walk away.

“You must be tired from your trip. Uncle. Let’s end the meeting here–I’ll host a welcome dinner for you.”
Nolan had made his decision, and no one dared say otherwise.
The executives in the room exchanged looks, all waiting for Tyson’s reaction.
Finally, Tyson nodded. “It’s true–I haven’t been back in a while. I’ll trouble Mr. Hayes to host the banquet tonight, then. Six hours should be enough for you to prepare.”
With that, Tyson rose from his chair.
The other executives quickly followed suit.
Nolan’s secretary understood immediately–this was Tyson flexing his authority.
Now that Tyson was back, the entire board of directors was turning on Nolan.
While Tyson had been away, things had been manageable.
But now that he’d returned, the old guard was becoming unmanageable.
“Mr. Hayes…”
“Let them go.”
Nolan didn’t care what they thought.
He had never intended to let those men stay in power at Hayes Corp.
They weren’t fools. They knew sticking with him would eventually get them removed, so they were choosing to side with Tyson instead, hoping to protect their status.
“I’m going to the university. You handle the dinner preparations.”
Hearing this, the secretary hesitated. “Mr. Hayes, if you leave now, they’ll have more ammunition against you. There’s still a lot of company business to deal with…”
“I’ll take care of all that tonight. But right now, I have to go.”
Nolan couldn’t let Elaine stir up trouble at Claire University.
She was definitely going to target Eliza.
And Eliza wasn’t the type to go looking for drama.
Nolan couldn’t let her suffer just because of him.

Elaine’s face still wore that gentle smile. “Nolan.”
“Who told you to go to Claire University?”
Nolan’s direct question clearly unsettled her,
Still, thinking back to how she’d wrongly blamed him before, Elaine forced a smile. “I figured it was time I went to college. I can’t just stay in a hospital forever. Campus life turned out better than I expected. Everyone’s really nice.”
She paused, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she looked at Nolan.
“Especially Eliza. She was very kind to me. Nolan, you should’ve told me earlier that she and Henry were engaged. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have made such a scene at the school gate. I almost got myself killed for nothing.”
