But when Nolan opened the door, it wasn’t Eliza he saw it was Elaine.
Her eyes glinted with something almost like defiance, and she even let out a cold little laugh.
So it really was true. The moment something involved Eliza, Nolan would come running.
“You need something?” Nolan’s tone was flat and unwelcoming.

Tyson’s driver, sticking to Julio’s script, said, “Mr. Hayes, this evening Ms. Sue went to Ms. Elaine’s house and destroyed everything. Ms. Elaine now has nowhere to stay, so our sir instructed me to bring her here.”
“This is my home,” Nolan replied icily. “I never agreed to let anyone else move in.”

But Elaine immediately cut in. “Wherever you go, I’ll go. If you won’t live with me, I’ll move in with Eliza instead.”
She thought she’d found his weakness.
But Nolan didn’t even flinch. “Go ahead. I’m sure you two will get along great.”
Elaine froze.
The memory of Eliza’s icy eyes as Matteo smashed her home came rushing back. That look would haunt her forever.
There was no way she had the courage to live under the same roof as Eliza.
Nolan stepped aside and opened the door wider, letting her in.
Once she entered, he made his conditions clear. “There’s only one guest room upstairs. You stay there. Don’t touch anything else. You can stay one night. Tomorrow I’ll have someone arrange a new place for you. Understood?”

Nolan knew exactly what that meant–Tyson was up to something again.
“I got it,” he said, hanging up.
His assistant was already waiting outside the hotel. Nolan made his way to the company.
