Zoe Bell had chosen her evening gown, but the waist needed altering. By the time it was delivered again, only two days remained before the Bell Family held the welcoming banquet for Mina Bell.
The Litchi Incense had already been made, but William Hale had to fly back to Capital City for work.
He might not make it back in time for the Bell Family’s banquet.
Before leaving, Zoe took out the Lapel Chain she had picked out for him and handed it over.
“Hmm?” William’s face remained untroubled.
“I bought it while shopping with Wyatt last time. I don’t know if you’ll like it?” Zoe glanced at the suit he was wearing and took out one of the Lapel Chains.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Wyatt playing a mobile game while keeping an eye on them.
“Would you like to try it on?” Zoe asked tentatively.

“Sure.”
William always spoke at an even pace, his emotions indistinguishable in his voice.
Standing to the side, Zac Cruz murmured to himself:
Oh, my lord, just laugh if you want to,
Doesn’t it hurt to hold it in?
Zoe approached him, took out the Lapel Chain, hooked
it into the buttonhole of his suit, and laid the tail in the breast pocket–a dark suit paired with a golden chain, very chic.
“What do you think?” Zoe was quite pleased with it.
Wyatt propped his head with his hand, observing the two of them.
After all, when family members gave his brother gifts,. he would only politely say thank you. He was curious to see whether his brother would be just as indifferent towards his sister–in–law’s kind gesture.
But then…
The next second, William suddenly reached out and gently embraced Zoe.

Zoe was startled, feeling a warm breath on her ear.
His voice was pleasant to listen to, low and magnetic, “Thank you, I like it very much.”
To play along with acting affectionate, Zoe reached out, tentatively wrapped her arms around his waist, not daring to hug him, but lightly gripping the fabric of his suit at the side, a gesture that took William by surprise.
He was inwardly delighted.
But he remained utterly calm on the outside, releasing the hand that embraced her while tilting his head to lightly touch her cheek.
His lips, slight and cool,
His breath, steady and warm, kindled a fire within her.
“Take care of yourself while I’m away on this trip,” his tone was gentle.
“You too.”

William warned.
“Got it.”
But no sooner had his brother left than the young rascal was like a wild dog unleashed.
He went out that very night, and Zoe merely reminded him to come home early.
She was making incense at home, and around eleven, Wyatt came back, bringing her a midnight snack.
“Thank you, but I won’t eat it.” Zoe needed to maintain her figure for dancing and didn’t have the habit of eating late–night snacks.
“They are desserts, taste pretty good, I brought them especially for you.”
Wyatt was enthusiastic, so Zoe had no choice but to cooperate and opened the package. She paused upon seeing the logo on the box. “You went to Nightless again?”
“Just… hanging out casually.”

“It’s that sleazy guy we ran into at the mall last time, who kept staring at you. Tonight at Nightless, he’s been throwing money around like it’s nothing, acting all high and mighty. I bet it’s money from the Bell family.”

William Hale’s circle of friends was well–informed and knew he had returned to the Capital City. They insisted on seeing him, no matter how late it was.
It was already very late when he finished work. As he entered the private room, everyone turned to look at him, for he was carefully hanging his suit jacket to one side as if it were a precious item.
“Hale, what’s that on your clothes?” someone noticed the Lapel Chain.
“You wear suits and never liked accessories, right? You find them cumbersome.”
William Hale nodded and sat down, “I had no choice, it was a gift from my wife.”

After the Start of Autumn, a sudden downpour had taken away much of the summer heat.
The clouds moved slowly, the sun set, its afterglow faded, and the moonlight flickered through the overcast clouds. When Zoe stepped out, a cool breeze was blowing, and as she sat in the car, she rubbed her right ankle.
“Looks like it’s going to rain.”
Ever since she got hurt, her leg had been more accurate than the weather forecast.
“Does your leg hurt?” Kyle Lowe was the driver, “Should we turn back home?”
“Just find a place to buy some painkillers,” Zoe said.
It was also because of stopping to buy painkillers, combined with the traffic jam, that they were delayed.
By the time they arrived at the hotel, the welcome banquet had already begun.

That day, Zoe was wearing a strapless gown, with a complex hand–woven bodice adorned with tiny diamonds and lace, and a layered skirt sparkling with countless sequins and crystals under the lights, as if flowing with radiant starlight.
She matched it with a pair of diamond earrings and a beautiful full diamond bracelet, stunningly beautiful beyond reality.
She was already pretty, but this makeup made her instantly capture everyone’s attention.
Mina Bell also noticed the commotion and their eyes met; Zoe flashed her a smile.
Mina’s foot slipped, stepping on Brandon Stone’s foot.
