Ad for ageing them even more? Eider Marcus scoffed. “That’s suicide, Sarah!”
As they argued back and forth, I felt my control over the situation slipping away. I had hoped this meeting would bring some clarity, but instead, it was turning into a chaotic mess of panic and finger–pointing.
Suddenly, Elder Thomas, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. “Maybe we are looking at this the wong way he said, his rough voice cutting through the noise. “What if all this is not about Adam Griffith tal? What is about the gin?

Elder Thomas leaned back in his chair, a calculating look in his eyes. “Think about it. This Aria girl shows up out of nowhere and captures the attention of our Alpha,” he nodded towards me, ‘and then after a few years, the ads for a divorce and a powerful man with ties to the Griffith clan comes to take her away? It seems to me she might have switched her target, cozying up to someone with more… more influence.”
The room erupted once again, but this time with a different kind of energy. Elder Sarah gasped, “You don’t think she planned this all along do you?”
“It makes sense,” Elder Grayson nodded. “She was probably just using Dante to get close to our pack, waiting for a better opportunity to come along”

Elder Thomas shook his head slowly “Dante, my boy, know you care for her. But you have to consider the possiblity that she’s been playing us all for fools
I felt a rush of anger, mixed with a deep, aching sadness. How could they talk about Aria like this? The Ana I knew, the one I had fallen in love with, would never do something like that. But then again, how well did I really know her?
As the elders continued to throw insults and accusations at Ana, I found myself tom. I really wanted to stand up for her, to hold onto the glimmer of hope that this was all some terrible misunderstanding

But I felt lost, overwhelmed in a sea of doubt and confusion. What if they were right? What if I had been blind all along?
The noise in the room grew to a fever pitch, each elder trying to speak louder than the rest with their theories and accusations
It was too much. The walls felt like they were closing in and the air was thick with tension and fear. Without warning. I stood up, my chair scraping loudly against the floor. The room fell silent once more, but I didn’t stay to hear what they had to say. I turned on my heel and walked out, ignoring the calls. behind me.
“Alphal Where are you going?”
“Alpha Dante, we are not done yet!”
“Come back here, young man!”
Their voices grew fainter as I walked down the hallway, my mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions.
I had no destination in mind; I just knew I needed to get out, to breathe, to think.
As I pushed open the front doors of the pack house, the cool morning air bit my face. The sky was just beginning to lighten. I took a deep breath, trying to clear my head.
What on earth was I going to do? The elders were looking to me for leadership, for answers, but I was feeling more lost than ever.
I started walking, letting my feet carry me wherever they wanted to go.
As I walked, I replayed every moment with Aria in my mind. Her smile, her laugh, the way her eyes lit up when she talked about the future.
Had it all been a lie? A carefully crafted act to worm her way into our pack?
